Abstract

Marine ambulance, as medically equipped vehicle which tranports patient to referral facilites, is very important in Batam archipelago. Routine maintenance activities is conducted to ensure all systems function properly. The maintenance includes maintenance of ship mechanics and ship engines, electrical systems, and hull cleaning. Maintenance standard operating procedure (SOP) is composed to help ship crew conducting ship maintenance. The maintenance activity repairs system problems successfully and appreciated by ship crew, LAZ Batam, and Awal Bros Hospital as service provider; and community who benefited by the service. Healthcare service operates well although some respondents think there is lack of equipments. Safety equipment and medical equipment are not enough for 13% and 20% respondents, respectively. However, all respondent think that the maintenance activity has repaired ship system and ensure ship to operate properly, and deliver healthcare service well.

Abstract

Welder qualification is the qualification of a welder or welder that aims to prove the quality of the welder, which is carried out following the rules in international codes/standards such as AWS, API, ASME, ISO, and other codes/ codes/standards. The purpose of this report is to design a welder qualification scheme using three codes/standards at once, namely: AWS D1.1 (2020), ASME Sec. IX (2019) and ISO 9609-1 (2017). Thus, it can minimize costs, time, and the preparation needed to qualify the welder. The methodology used was a literature review to get the similarity of the variables, which will later be used to qualify the welder using the three codes/standards used. After obtaining the required variables, the next step was the implementation of these variables to qualify the welder from the material preparation and welding process to test the weld results. In order to qualify the welder with three codes/standards at once, it was necessary to pay attention to the relationship for each variable used to cover one code with another. If one of the variables cannot be met in one of the codes/standards used, then the welder's qualification using three codes/standards cannot be implemented. The material used in this welder qualification is ASTM A106 Grade B with a material length of 170 mm × 170 mm with a thickness of 18.26 mm and a diameter of 6" (168.3 mm) sch 160. The test methods used were Visual Inspection and Side Bend Test with four samples.

Abstract

The sonication method randomly breaks polymer chains to produce a varied distribution of products. A scheme with multi-stage sonication steps is proposed to identify oligomers and low molecular weight chitosan based on changes to the degrad-ed product. For each sonication level, 1% (w/v) chitosan in 1% (v/v) aqueous acetic acid was sonicated for 120 min at 60 °C. The products of the sonication treatment were deprotonized by adding an alkali solution, freeze dried and insoluble product re-sonicated until a low molecular weight was produced. Low molecular weight chitosan/insoluble products were character-ized with Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the effect of multistage soni-cation on degree of deacetylation (DD) and degree of crystallinity. The viscosity of the average molecular weight of insolu-ble chitosan was estimated by a viscometric method, while the degree of polymerization (DP) of the chitosan oligomers (COS) were determined by end group analysis. The results showed that the molecular weight of insoluble chitosan decreased and reached a limiting value, (Mlim). The percent yield of oligoglucosamine of the soluble products increased with the num-ber of the sonication stages. The degree of crystallinity of insoluble chitosan increased from 19% to 34.14% while the DD decreased from 82% to 78.1%.

Abstract

Power BI merupakan salah satu software intelligence buatan Microsoft yang digunakan untuk mengolah serta memvisualisasikan data dan menampilkannya dengan grafis yang lebih interakif serta variatif dalam bentuk dashboard. Beberapa keunggulan Power BI ini ialah bersifat Share Data, Real Time Dashboard, dan dapat mengolah data original yang jumlahnya melebihi kapasitas aplikasi lainnya. Dashboard pada Power BI akan digunakan untuk mengolah data Non-Conformance Material. Data Non-Conformance Material adalah data yang mencakup keseluruhan informasi dari kumpulan aktual material yang menyimpang dari standar atau ketentuan yang sudah ditetapkan dan dikategorikan ke dalam beberapa Defect Type. Material yang memiliki defect akan dikarantina untuk sementara waktu sampai mendapatkan disposisi yang telah disepakati pada saat Material Review Committee (MRC) Meeting. MRC Meeting merupakan pertemuan dari perwakilan masing-masing departemen untuk menentukan disposisi terhadap material Non-Conformance. Maka dari itu, penggunaan Power BI untuk representasikan data Non-Conformance Material sangat bermanfaat dikarenakan salah satu keunggulannya yaitu dashboard Power BI sendiri bersifat Live Data yang artinya ketika mengubah atau menambahkan sesuatu di Master File, dashboard Power BI akan berubah secara otomatis mengikuti Master File tersebut. Hal ini tentu saja dapat mempermudah visual yang tampak rumit bagi pengguna maupun audience yang melihat.

Abstract

Stress relieving is a heat treatment process that aims to eliminate stress on the end of the material that has been deformed, either internal deformation (swaging) or external deformation (expanding). This treatment aims to eliminate residual stress or residual hardness resulting from the end-sizing process and restore the stress level in the pipe due to the swaging process by heating the material according to the temperature and formation of the material itself. While swaging is a forging process on the pipe cylinder to reduce the end of the pipe, as well as forming the end of the pipe according to the request of the customer, both internal and external deformation processes. This study aims to compare the hardness value of pipe material in non-swaging, swaging, and swaging + stress relieving treatments. This test uses carbon steel material grade L80 pipe size 3 ½ inches with a pipe length of 6 ft. The pressure applied during swaging was 2,850 psi for 30 seconds, with a swage stroke value of 118.00 mm. While the stress-relieving treatment is given heating in the temperature range of 595oC – 625oC with a soaking time of 60 seconds. Of the three treatments, the highest hardness was obtained from the swaging process with a value of 19.2 HRC while the lowest hardness was shown by the non-swaging specimen with a value of 16.7 HRC.

Abstract

Heat straightening is a method of repairing material distortion caused by welding heat. Heat straightening is done by heating the material in an area that is distorted and cooled slowly in the air until the desired material dimensions tolerance appropriate are achieved. The Heat Straightening method is carried out at a range suhu 370℃-550℃ using the oxy-acetylene method for the heating process. This research is aimed to find out effect Heat Straightening proses the hardness value on ABS EH36 material. The hardness testing method used is the Hardness Vickers test with load applied 10kgf on Carbon Steel ABS EH 36. From the research it is known that the hardness value in the base metal area is higher than the heat straightening area with an average hardness value of 192.1 HV10 in the base metal area and an average hardness value of 185 HV10 in the heat straightening area.

Abstract

Proses pengelasan SAW menggunakan fluks yang berbentuk seperti pasir yang berfungsi melindungi logam pengisi yang mencair saat proses pengelasan agar tidak terjadinya kontaminasi dengan udara luar sehingga didapatkan hasil pengelasan yang cukup baik. Sedangkan elektroda SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) diselaputi atau dilindungi oleh fluks dengan proses pengerjaan secara manual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa perbandingan hasil pengelasan dengan menggunakan metode standar WPS PS-03 (Original) dan WPS PS-03R (Repair), dengan menggunakan pengujian impact untuk mengetahui ketangguhan pada spesimen S355G7+M. Pengujian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketangguhan impact pada bagian hasil pengelasan pada WPS PS-03 (Original) dan WPS PS-03R (Repair). Spesimen WPS PS-03R memiliki nilai lebih besar di bandingkan dengan spesimen WPS PS-03. Apabila nilai kekuatan spesimen semakin besar, maka semakin kuat dan tangguh pula pada spesimen tersebut. Temperatur pada spesimen sangat berpengaruh terhadap keuletan atau kegetasan suatu logam. Semakin tinggi temperaturnya maka semakin ulet logam tersebut begitupun sebaliknya.

Abstract

Postur kerja yang tidak sesuai bisa menjadi pemicu timbulnya keluhan fisik pada pekerja, terutama jika dilakukan dalam waktu lama dan berulang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis postur kerja operator dalam proses penggerindaan ulir pada pipa OCTG dengan menggunakan metode Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), serta perbaikan ergonomi yang dibutuhkan untuk mengurangi potensi risiko. Penilaian dilakukan menggunakan metode REBA dengan pendekatan deskriptif semi-kuantitatif. Data diperoleh dari observasi langsung di lapangan, dokumentasi foto, pengukuran sudut tubuh menggunakan AutoCAD, dan wawancara dengan dua orang operator. Hasil awal menunjukkan bahwa posisi kerja operator termasuk dalam kategori risiko sedang, dengan skor REBA sebesar 7. Untuk mengurangi risiko tersebut, dudukan gerinda dibuat yang disesuaikan dengan tinggi badan operator. Setelah perbaikan dilakukan, skor REBA menurun menjadi 2, yang menunjukkan risiko rendah. Perubahan terlihat jelas terutama pada posisi punggung, leher, dan kaki yang menjadi lebih tegak dan seimbang. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa perbaikan sederhana yang memperhatikan kenyamanan postur kerja dapat berdampak besar terhadap kesehatan dan kenyamanan pekerja, serta membantu menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Portable open waste container is a traditional waste transport tool that is still widely used in various places. Skid frame is an important component in the construction of portable open waste container that serves to withstand static and dynamic loads during waste transport. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the strength of the skid frame structure to ensure the design is able to withstand the given load. This research aims to analyse the stress distribution, deformation, and safety factor of the portable open waste container skid frame using the Finite Element Analysis method in Solidworks software. The analysis results show that the maximum stress that occurs in the skid frame is 249.921 MPa which almost reaches the yield stress of ASTM A36 steel material, which is 250 MPa, with a maximum deformation of 20.544 mm, and a minimum safety factor of 0.6. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the skid frame design needs to be optimised to improve the durability of the structure and safety during operation

Abstract

The hydroponic pilot project in the Batam State Polytechnic area was motivated by problems with economic conditions and declining health conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. This project is expected to support the "growing your own food movement" in an effort to reduce unemployment, increase food security and a healthy lifestyle. The hydroponic method was chosen because it is very easy to do and does not require a large area of "‹"‹land. In this community service activity, a hydroponic plant building framework will be made as a prototype of an efficient and efficient hydroponic building so that it can be used by the wider community. This activity is also useful for applying design knowledge as one of the PbL activities carried out by CAD, CNC, CAM, and Fabrication Engineering courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department, so that it can become an arena for higher education participation to support people's lives. The method of implementing this community service activity is to make observations to find a suitable area to build a hydroponic plant house, then the results of the observations are poured in the form of a design by utilizing software so that the materials needed and the shape of the framework that is built can be known. The last activity is making a hydroponic plant place. This activity is planned to be carried out from April to November 2021. Based on the results of the evaluation of the service program questionnaire for product distribution, it is known that the majority of respondents are satisfied with the products produced.
