Abstract

This study focuses on examining the relationship between parenting styles and spiritual intelligence on self-control possessed by junior high school students in Pageruyung District. The method used in this study is quantitative correlation with data collection techniques using parenting style scales, spiritual intelligence scales, and self-control scales with a Likert model. The total population was 759 students and a sample of 262 students spread across grades VII, VIII, and IX at junior high schools in Pageruyung District obtained through probability sampling techniques with proportionate stratified random sampling techniques. Data analysis used multiple linear regression. The research findings show that parenting styles and spiritual intelligence simultaneously have a positive and significant relationship with students' self-control by 32.1%, meaning that an increase in the quality of parenting styles and spiritual intelligence is followed by an increase in students' self-control. Meanwhile, the other 67.9% is influenced by other factors outside the research variables. The findings of this study can be used to develop guidance and counseling services that focus on improving students' self-control through strengthening spiritual intelligence and optimizing the role of parental parenting styles.

Abstract

Fundamental changes in education driven by digitalization demand that teachers, including guidance and counseling teachers, possess strong digital literacy to remain professionally competent. This study aimed to analyze the level of digital literacy mastery among guidance and counseling teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran and to evaluate how these skills support their professional competence. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach with saturated sampling, data were collected from all five guidance and counseling teachers at the school using questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. The results revealed that the overall digital literacy mastery was high, with Internet searching (75%) and Content evaluation (64%) being the strongest aspects, while Hypertextual navigation and Knowledge assembly both fell into the medium category (59%). These findings suggest that while digital literacy significantly enhances the professional competence of teachers, particularly in accessing and evaluating information, there are still gaps in advanced navigation and integrative knowledge skills—especially among older teachers. The research contributes practical and theoretical insights by highlighting the importance of targeted digital literacy training and adaptive policy development to optimize counseling services. This study is beneficial for education stakeholders seeking to design effective training programs and improve digital integration in school counseling. Future research is recommended to involve larger samples, apply mixed-method approaches, and examine additional dimensions such as digital ethics, wellbeing, and communication skills to further strengthen the digital competence of educators.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum demands professionalism among counselors in conducting comprehensive Guidance and Counseling programs. However, technical barriers to the implementation of non-cognitive diagnostic assessments have been identified, which impact counselor self-efficacy. This study aims to analyze the influence of non-cognitive diagnostic assessment skills on high school counselors' self-efficacy in implementing comprehensive guidance and counseling programs. Using a quantitative correlational design, this study involved 84 counselors from public high schools in Semarang City. The research instruments included a modified School Counselor Self-Efficacy Scale (SCSE) and a non-cognitive diagnostic assessment skills scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression through IBM SPSS. The results showed a strong positive relationship between non-cognitive diagnostic assessment skills and self-efficacy. This finding provides an empirical contribution that strengthening non-cognitive diagnostic assessment skills is an important factor in improving counselor self-efficacy, thus providing a basis for developing professional training and developing comprehensive guidance and counseling programs that are more student-centered. Based on these findings, it is necessary to replicate the study on a wider geographical scale and with various types of schools in the future to increase the generalizability of the findings in the context of national education.

Abstract

The threat of a megathrust earthquake in the seismic gap zone of the southern coast of Java demands the strengthening of risk communication that is easily understood, accessible, and remembered by the lay public, including the coastal community of Karangpakis Village, Cilacap Regency. This article aims to develop and present Micro-Documentary Learning (MDL), a conceptual framework for developing short-duration documentary videos that integrate the principles of microlearning, Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, and Disaster Risk Communication for disaster education in coastal communities. The activity was carried out through eight stages: need assessment, risk communication analysis, microlearning design, script development, documentary production, post-production, community dissemination, and reflection, conducted in collaboration with the Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS) of Singkil Indah Beach, Karangpakis Village. The results indicate that MDL is capable of condensing complex disaster materials into short viewing units with a single clear learning objective, integrated with local narratives such as biogas potential and MSME activities, thereby making mitigation messages more acceptable without causing excessive panic. MDL is positioned as a conceptual framework bridging seismic studies, multimedia learning sciences, and disaster risk communication practices, with the potential for replication in other coastal villages facing similar threats. The main contribution of this article is the introduction of MDL as a media development framework that can be utilized by community service institutions, village governments, and community groups to design contextual and sustainable disaster education videos.
