Abstract

This study develops an experimental module for Counter and Binary Adder Circuit practicals to enhance Electrical Engineering students' understanding of logic circuits at the University of Mataram. The Counter circuit, a sequential circuit triggered by a clock signal, includes synchronous and asynchronous types. The Binary Adder Circuit performs binary addition. The module incorporates key components such as JK and D flip-flops, logic gates (AND, OR, XOR, NOT), a shift register, and a full adder. Design and testing confirm proper functionality. The Counter module operates correctly with LED indicators, and the Binary Adder produces accurate binary calculations. Abstract

Three-phase inverters are widely used in industrial applications, including motor drives, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicles. One significant issue in these systems is harmonic distortion, which lowers power efficiency and degrades output voltage quality. To address this, the study proposes a quadratic polynomial fitting technique to optimize Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals, aiming to reduce harmonics and improve power quality. This research focuses on a dual three-phase inverter configuration, which provides better current distribution, reduced power losses, and increased resilience to electrical disturbances. The use of quadratic polynomial fitting allows for more precise PWM waveform generation, resulting in lower Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi). The methodology involves mathematical modeling, simulation using MATLAB/Simulink, and experimental validation with a prototype inverter. Results indicate that the technique significantly reduces THDi, especially at optimal modulation indices. Additionally, implementing an LC filter further improves harmonic suppression, producing a cleaner and more stable output. This approach enhances power conversion performance and is highly suitable for industrial and renewable energy applications where efficiency and power quality are critical

Abstract

The DC-DC boost converter is a crucial component in power management systems, functioning to step up the DC voltage from a lower to a higher level. However, the effectiveness of the converter is often hindered by power losses and suboptimal efficiency. This study presents a performance analysis of three control methods applied to the Boost Converter: Conventional PWM, PWM with Modified Duty Cycle Switching (MDCS), and a Proportional-Integral (PI) Controller. Simulation results indicate that the Conventional PWM method exhibits low efficiency (88%) along with significant overshoot and steady-state error. The MDCS method demonstrates improved efficiency (91.7%) and a faster response time; however, it tends to experience substantial voltage fluctuations, indicating instability during transient conditions. In contrast, the PI controller delivers the most optimal performance, achieving the highest efficiency (94%) and a stable output voltage without significant fluctuations. The PI technique effectively maintains the reference voltage with minimal steady-state error and overshoot, making it an ideal solution for applications requiring high stability and efficiency. In conclusion, the PI controller is recommended for power conversion applications that demand stability, while the MDCS method is more suitable for systems requiring fast response with consideration for stability. The Conventional PWM method should be avoided in applications that require high efficiency

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a fundamental aspect to ensure the security and continuity of academic activities, especially in technical laboratory environments that are highly prone to fire hazards. The Electrical Engineering Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mataram, is identified as a high-risk area due to the use of high-voltage electricity, electronic devices, and flammable materials. According to the fire triangle theory comprising fuel, heat, and oxygen fires can be prevented by eliminating one of these elements. A primary preventive effort in this context involves the use of fire extinguishers (APAR) and adequate training on their proper use. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of APAR training and awareness campaigns among active laboratory students. The training method applied an andragogical approach with the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), accompanied by pre- and post-tests, simulated fire suppression, and participatory observation. Results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, with the average score increasing from 18.75% to 88.38% and the standard deviation decreasing from 9.22 to 6.16, indicating more uniform comprehension among participants. A paired t-test revealed a highly significant difference (p < 0.0001), and one-way ANOVA supported that the training had a measurable effect on all evaluated aspects. Beyond cognitive gains, students also demonstrated positive affective and psychomotor responses through active participation and practical suggestions, such as improving extinguisher placement and adding usage instructions. These findings indicate that the APAR training program not only enhances technical knowledge but also cultivates a culture of safety within the academic environment. It is recommended that such training be institutionalized as part of the laboratory's integrated OSH management system

Abstract

Pemahaman masyarakat tentang Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) Kelistrikan di Desa Sandik, Kecamatan Batulayar, masih tergolong rendah. Masyarakat cenderung mengabaikan potensi bahaya dari instalasi listrik yang tidak aman, seperti risiko kebakaran, sengatan listrik, dan ledakan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, dilakukan sosialisasi dan edukasi mengenai K3 Kelistrikan kepada masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan ini meliputi pengenalan potensi bahaya, cara pengecekan dan pemeliharaan instalasi listrik, serta pelatihan pemasangan instalasi listrik yang sesuai dengan standar Persyaratan Umum Instalasi Listrik (PUIL) 2011. Hasil monitoring dan evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap keselamatan kelistrikan setelah dilakukan edukasi. Dari 30 responden yang terlibat, 70% menyatakan setuju atau sangat setuju bahwa edukasi tersebut penting dan perlu ditingkatkan. Namun, masih terdapat 13,33% responden yang belum sepenuhnya memahami pentingnya keselamatan kelistrikan, sehingga diperlukan upaya edukasi yang lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan. Kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat, namun pendampingan berkelanjutan diperlukan untuk memastikan keselamatan kelistrikan di Desa Sandik tetap terjaga.

Abstract

Economic development in the dumpling chips business requires cooperation from the community and related agencies. One of the efforts made by the community service team is training in pangsit chip production. This is necessary because small businesses in Lendang Nangka Village face various challenges in developing their businesses. Production is still carried out traditionally, which has an impact on the lack of uniformity in product quality. One of the main challenges is the limited knowledge and skills needed to produce quality and consistent products. The purpose of Community Service is to strengthen small entrepreneurs in Lendang Nangka Village by improving production skills so that they can make good quality and consistent products. The activity method through training carried out by the Community Service Team and the Cooperatives and SMEs Service, covers aspects of improving technical skills in the production process. Through the production process, training is provided on how to enhance the quality of the product through the use of better techniques and raw materials. The results of community service give an understanding and skills related to pangsit chips raw materials and how to print, fry, dry, and package products. This can be used as a guideline to ensure that the pangsit chips produced are of good quality and can be stored properly. By overcoming existing challenges and utilizing existing opportunities, this program is expected to have a positive impact on regional economic development. Some things related to packaging are new knowledge for pangsit chip artisans. Pangsit chips artisans are interested in using packaging other than plastic to maintain product quality and use packaging for various sizes of their products.

Abstract

Desa Sandik, Kecamatan Batulayar, Lombok Barat, memiliki risiko kebakaran yang tinggi, terutama selama musim kemarau. Namun, kesadaran masyarakat mengenai pencegahan dan penanggulangan kebakaran, termasuk penggunaan Alat Pemadam Api Ringan (APAR), masih sangat terbatas. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, dilakukan program penguatan kapasitas melalui pelatihan dan simulasi penggunaan APAR. Pelatihan ini melibatkan berbagai elemen masyarakat dan memberikan pengetahuan serta keterampilan praktis tentang cara penanggulangan kebakaran yang efektif. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta terkait penggunaan APAR serta kesadaran akan pentingnya kesiapsiagaan kebakaran. Meskipun demikian, tantangan berupa kurangnya motivasi masyarakat untuk berpartisipasi dan keterbatasan jumlah APAR di desa ini masih perlu diatasi. Program ini telah berhasil meningkatkan kesiapan masyarakat Desa Sandik dalam menghadapi potensi kebakaran dan dapat dijadikan model untuk diterapkan di wilayah lain yang memiliki risiko serupa.

Abstract

Pemikiran untuk pengolahan hasil buang produksi terus dikembangkan untuk memperoleh pengasilan lebih dan meminimalisir hal yang negative (residu). Masalah residu dari minyal jelantah perlu dipikirkan agar dapat lebih bermanfaat. Salah satu pengembangan adalah pemanfaatan minyak jelantah merupakan dari limbah rumah tangga. Minyak ini  sering kali dibuang tanpa proses pengolahan lebih lanjut.  Hal ini mempunyai potensi besar  diubah menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis tinggi. Minyak hasil buang ini ditambahkan dengan  inovasi penambahan zat aditive dalam pembuatan lilin aroma terapi berbasis minyak jelantah. Keunggulan utama adalh dapat mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dengan berputarnya energi yang diperoleh dari proses.  Peluang untuk membuka lapangan kerja serta  usaha berkelanjutan. Pengolahan  minyak jelantah yang salah dengan dibuang secara sembarangan  untuk menjadi produk UMKM dapat mencemari lingkungan lebih-lebih pada tanah dan air. Pengolahan yang ditawarkan menjadi produk bermanfaat mendukung prinsip ekonomi sirkular. Produksi secara rumahan terus dikembangakan sesuai dengan permintaan konsumen khusus pada aroma terapinya.

Abstract

The amateur radio community plays a strategic role in emergency communication, especially when conventional networks are disrupted during disasters. However, fire preparedness within this group remains limited. Fire risks mainly arise from electrical failures, short circuits due to non-standard equipment, and excessive heat from transmission devices. A lack of awareness regarding fire safety procedures, including the use of fire extinguishers (APAR), heightens vulnerability. This program aimed to improve fire preparedness among amateur radio operators in Mataram City through awareness campaigns and APAR training. The methods included observation, risk analysis, training development, implementation, and evaluation. Results revealed significant improvements in knowledge and practical skills, despite gaps in routine inspections and evacuation planning. The program strengthens the community's role not only as an emergency communication provider but also as an active fire mitigation agent, contributing to a safer and more resilient environment.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dibidang elektronika dan meningkatnya kebutuhan tegangan DC (Direct Current) cukup pesat, hampir semua peralatan elektronika membutuhkan sumber tegangan DC baik itu untuk meningkatkan tegangan. Salah satu komponen elektronika adalah boost converter dimana DC-DC konverter ini yang menghasilkan tegangan keluaran lebih besar dari tegangan masuknya, dengan mengatur duty cycle pada mode open loop sedangkan mode close loop adalah menjaga kestabilan tegangan keluaran sesuai dengan setting menggunakan kontroler PI. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa dari rangkaian simulasi boost converter menggunakan software SIMULINK/MATLAB serta untuk mengetahui pengaruh duty cycle, dan tegangan input yang bervariasi terhadap tegangan keluaran. Pengujian pada mode open loop dilakukan dengan mengatur tegangan input konstan 9 Volt, frekuensi switching 40 KHz, dengan variasi duty cycle 5% sampai 62.5% dan beban yang diberikan sebesar 16 ?. Dari pengujian dihasilkan tegangan keluaran minimum pada saat duty cycle diatur 5% yaitu 8.96 Volt, sedangkan saat duty cycle 62.5% menghasilkan tegangan keluaran maksimum yaitu 23.99 Volt. Selisih yang paling tinggi didapatkan pada saat percobaan ke 12 yaitu 1.45 Volt, dan nilai efisiensi terbesar adalah 88.3% pada saat nilai duty cycle diatur 62.5%. Sedangkan pada pengujian mode close loop, tegangan masukan divariasikan dari 9 Volt sampai 9 Volt, konfigurasi untuk nilai parameter PI konstan yaitu nilai Kp 0.5 dan Ki 28, dengan mengatur nilai set point 24 Volt pada setiap pengujian. Hasil respon tegangan keluaran yang dihasilkan lebih optimal yaitu pada saat tegangan masukan diatur 17 Volt sebesar 23.98 Volt sehingga selisih/error dapat mencapai 0.02 Volt.
