Abstract

This study examines the persistence of death rituals in Cirebon amid the pressures of modernity, focusing on how these practices continue to hold deep social and spiritual significance within the community. The research explores how changing values and economic challenges, particularly concerning food preparation and distribution during post-funeral events such as tahlilan and slametan, reflect tensions between religious teachings that discourage wastefulness and local beliefs surrounding purity and respect for the deceased. Employing a qualitative case study design, fieldwork was conducted in Trusmi Village, Cirebon, through in-depth interviews and participant observation involving ritual custodians (kuncen), family members, community leaders, and elders. Data were analyzed thematically via Blumer’s social action theory to interpret how symbols, social meanings, and modernization interact in shaping ritual practices. Findings reveal that while death rituals maintain their function as expressions of religiosity and social solidarity, modern consumerist tendencies have transformed certain practices into displays of prestige, often leading to food waste. The study calls for cultural adaptation and education to align these traditions with Islamic principles of moderation (wasatiyyah) and sustainability, reducing waste while reaffirming the rituals’ essence as expressions of piety, compassion, and solidarity, ensuring they remain spiritually meaningful and socially relevant in Cirebon society.

Abstract

The land occupation fine policy imposed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) is formally presented as part of asset regulation and optimization. Yet its implementation has generated significant tension among long-established residents living in informal settlements on PT KAI–owned land. The lack of public participation, procedural transparency, and sensitivity to local socio-economic realities has intensified uncertainty and vulnerability within the community. This study examines the impact of the fine policy on residents of Wadukan Hamlet in Sugihwaras Village, Saradan District, Madiun Regency, using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by literature review and field interviews. Drawing on Antonio Gramsci’s concept of hegemony, the study explores how administrative instruments function as mechanisms of symbolic power and spatial control. The findings show that residents recognize PT KAI’s legal ownership and have long contributed through informal dues; however, the sudden escalation of fines and the marking of homes without adequate socialization have produced economic burdens, psychological distress, and a heightened sense of insecurity. What began as an administrative procedure has evolved into a form of structural marginalization. The study underscores the need for policy reform grounded in social justice, transparent implementation, and meaningful community engagement so that state spatial governance does not operate as a vehicle of exclusion.

Abstract

Remaja berada dalam fase perkembangan yang penuh tantangan, terutama saat menghadapi dilema pilihan hidup dan risiko seperti putus sekolah dan keterbatasan biaya pendidikan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi untuk memperkuat dan memotivasi cara berpikir remaja melalui pola tren positif, yang diwujudkan dalam praktik hulu-hilir berbasis potensi dan permasalahan sosial, dengan fokus pada gerakan hijau dan kreativitas memasak. Pendekatan yang digunakan melihat persoalan remaja sebagai bagian dari masyarakat berisiko. Namun, risiko tersebut dapat diprediksi dan diupayakan penyelesaiannya. Metode pengabdian dilakukan melalui pemetaan sosial sederhana, dilanjutkan dengan analisis sebab-akibat dari permasalahan remaja. Selanjutnya, ditentukan tahapan pengabdian dengan mengangkat tema tren positif serta memberikan informasi dan strategi program penyetaraan pendidikan serta peluang beasiswa. Hasil dari kegiatan ini terlihat dari partisipasi aktif dan respons positif para remaja selama proses edukasi berlangsung. Remaja di Desa Dayeuhkolot memperoleh gagasan baru dalam melihat persoalan dan peluang, serta memiliki cara pandang yang lebih konstruktif dalam mengatasi permasalahan yang mereka hadapi.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of gender and sexuality in the Thai series I Told Sunset About You using Jacques Derrida's deconstruction theory. Unlike previous studies that focus on identity affirmation or audience response, this research offers a new perspective by examining narrative ambiguity, emotional uncertainty, and symbolic silence as representational strategies. The research was conducted over six months (January-June 2025) by analyzing all episodes of the series, focusing on scenes that display the dismantling of masculine-feminine hierarchies, the application of différance in character relations, and the portrayal of gender identity as a fluid entity. Data were collected through dialogue transcription, scene marking, and recording of characters' gestural-emotional dynamics. The results show that this series represents queer identity not through labels, but through cues, revealing representational strategies as a form of symbolic propaganda. By emphasizing how the reproduction of space through popular media becomes a discursive space for ideological resistance, particularly related to heteronormativity. These findings contribute to the development of queer media studies in Southeast Asia, especially in reading gender politics in BL narratives critically and contextually.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKrisis keluarga sebagai bagian dari krisis multidimensional bangsa menuntut pendekatan pengasuhan yang lebih mendalam dan transformatif. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan membangun spiral pengasuhan berbasis kapabilitas spiritual melalui pembentukan tenaga penyuluh pengasuhan dari kader Posyandu di Desa Cileles, Kabupaten Sumedang, Jawa Barat. Desa Cileles, sebagai wilayah perdesaan yang bersinggungan langsung dengan kampus Universitas Padjadjaran, dipilih sebagai lokus intervensi karena potensi strategisnya dan kebutuhan akan penguatan kapasitas sosial non-fisik. Program ini mengintegrasikan konsep kapabilitas spiritual sebagai fondasi pengasuhan, dengan materi berbasis pandangan alam Islam dan konsep yang dikembangkan penulis yaitu kapabilitas spiritual yang meliputi penguatan kompetensi berbasis ruh, aql, nafs dan qalb. Melalui pelatihan intensif, kader Posyandu dibekali kompetensi sebagai penyuluh pengasuhan yang mampu mendampingi orang tua dalam memahami peran mendidik anak secara holistik, meliputi aspek fisik, psikis, dan spiritual. Intervensi ini tidak hanya memperkuat fungsi Posyandu sebagai wadah pemberdayaan masyarakat, tetapi juga membentuk ekosistem pengasuhan yang berkelanjutan dan berakar pada nilai-nilai lokal. Program pelatihan di lapangan telah dilaksanakan sebanyak tujuh pertemuan dalam kurun waktu sekitar tujuh bulan. Peserta merupakan perwakilan kader posyandu dari lebih dari 12 Rukun Warga Desa Cileles, yang ditargetkan dapat memberikan penyuluhan pengasuhan pada ragam agenda posyandu. Selain pelatihan langsung di lapangan, program ini juga menyediak video pembelajaran dan bahan artikel singkat pendukung, untuk menguatkan pemahaman peserta. Kata kunci: kapabilitas spiritual, pengasuhan anak, kader Posyandu, pemberdayaan desa, pendidikan ruhani                                                                          ABSTRACTThe family crisis, as a facet of the nation’s broader multidimensional crisis, demands a deeper and more transformative approach to parenting. This community engagement program aims to develop a spiral model of parenting grounded in spiritual capability by training parenting facilitators from Posyandu cadres in Cileles Village, Sumedang Regency, West Java. Cileles, a rural area adjacent to Universitas Padjadjaran’s northern campus, was selected as the intervention site due to its strategic potential and the urgent need to strengthen non-physical social capacities. The program integrates the concept of spiritual capability as the foundation of parenting, drawing upon an Islamic worldview and a framework developed by the authors that encompasses the strengthening of competencies rooted in ruh (spirit), aql (intellect), nafs (self), and qalb (heart). Through intensive training, Posyandu cadres were equipped to serve as parenting facilitators capable of guiding parents in understanding their educational role holisticallyaddressing physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. This intervention not only enhances the function of Posyandu as a community empowerment platform but also cultivates a sustainable parenting ecosystem anchored in local values. The field training was conducted over seven sessions across approximately seven months. Participants included Posyandu representatives from more than 12 neighborhood units (Rukun Warga) in Cileles Village, with the goal of enabling them to deliver parenting education through various Posyandu activities. Abstract

ABSTRAK  Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika ekologi sosial keluarga pesisir di Indramayu dalam menjaga kelestarian hutan mangrove melalui peran lintas generasi. Berbeda dari penelitian sebelumnya yang lebih menyoroti aspek kelembagaan atau kebijakan konservasi, penelitian ini menawarkan kebaruan dengan menempatkan keluarga sebagai pusat analisis ekologi sosial. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif digunakan untuk menelusuri bagaimana nilai gotong royong (sabilulungan), pewarisan pengetahuan ekologis, dan solidaritas antar generasi membentuk praktik pelestarian mangrove yang berkelanjutan. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi di kawasan pesisir Karangsong, Pasekan, dan Brondong. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keluarga memainkan peran kunci dalam membangun kesadaran ekologis, menghubungkan nilai tradisional dengan adaptasi modern melalui kegiatan konservasi, ekonomi lokal, dan ekspresi digital generasi muda. Sintesis teoritis dalam penelitian ini menghasilkan model ekologi sosial berbasis keluarga, yang menegaskan bahwa keberlanjutan lingkungan pesisir tidak hanya bergantung pada kebijakan atau intervensi eksternal, tetapi juga pada kekuatan nilai sosial, solidaritas lintas generasi, dan kesadaran ekologis yang tertanam dalam keluarga.Kata kunci: Ekologi Sosial, Keluarga Pesisir, Intergenerasional, Mangrove, SabilulunganABSTRACT  This study explores the dynamics of coastal families’ social ecology in Indramayu and their intergenerational roles in conserving mangrove forests. Unlike previous studies focusing on institutional or policy dimensions, this research offers novelty by positioning the family as the core of social-ecological analysis. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, it investigates how local values of sabilulungan (mutual cooperation), ecological knowledge transmission, and intergenerational solidarity shape sustainable mangrove conservation practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation in the coastal areas of Karangsong, Pasekan, and Brondong. Findings reveal that families act as key agents in fostering ecological awareness, connecting traditional values with modern adaptations through conservation activities, local economic initiatives, and youth-led digital expressions. The theoretical synthesis formulates a family-based social ecology model, emphasizing that coastal environmental sustainability depends not only on policies or external interventions but also on the strength of social values, intergenerational solidarity, and ecological consciousness embedded within families.Keywords: Social Ecology, Coastal Family, Intergenerational, Mangrove, Sabilulungan

Abstract

Perubahan iklim menjadi permasalahan global dan urgen bagi masyarakat seluruh dunia, terutama masyarakat petani padi tradisional yang menggunakan sistem sawah tadah hujan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat tani dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim, dengan fokus pada pengetahuan berbasis komunitas lokal atau kearifan lokal. Permasalahan penelitian substansial karena masyarakat tani belum mampu menghadapi perubahan iklim. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, penelitian ini mengungkap bagaimana masyarakat tani memaknai tanda-tanda alam melalui pengetahuan tradisional, menerapkan praktik bertani yang berkelanjutan, dan mempertahankan kelembagaan adat keujreun blang sebagai praktik sosial. Selain itu, praktik meuseuraya atau gotong royong serta peran kelembagaan adat turut memperkuat ketahanan masyarakat tani tradisional dalam menghadapi dampak perubahan iklim. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan lokal atau kearifan lokal bukan sekadar warisan budaya, tetapi juga merupakan praktik adaptasi yang terus berkembang untuk menanggapi perubahan iklim. Oleh karena itu, mengintegrasikan pengetahuan lokal dengan pendekatan ilmiah dan kebijakan pemerintah menjadi langkah praktik strategis dalam membangun sistem pertanian yang lebih tangguh dan berkelanjutan di tengah perubahan iklim dalam masyarakat tani di Aceh Barat.
