Abstract

This research aims to analyze financial feasibility of rice harvesting machine (combine harvester) business unit and its sensitivity. Location was selected purposive in the Seputih Raman Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency. Respondents were all ten owners of the rice harvestinsg machine (combine harvester) with three differences in investment in machinery, namely in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Data were analyzed by quantitatively using measurement criteria of financial viability and sensitivity analyzes. The results showed that: business unit of rice harvesting machine (combine harvester) is financially viable as indicated by  NPV values of Rp779,027,757.73 in 2013, Rp638,765,707.48 in 2014, and  Rp417,306,800.57 in 2015; IRR 77.40 percent (2013), 70.55 cpercent (2014), and 67.29 percent (2015); Gross B/C of 1.39 (2013), 1.35 (2014), and 1.30 (2015); Net B/C of 3.35 (2013), 2.99 (2014), and 2.92 (2015); PP of 2.18 (2013), 2.24 (2014) and 2.33 (2015) from the economic life of the machine for seven years, and business unit of rice harvesting machine (combine harvester) is still viable despite the drop in harvest area of 4.77 percent, a decrease in rental machine rate of 5 percent, and an increase in operating cost of 6.51 percent.Key words: combine harvester, financial, sensitivity

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze: the level of profit and the gain difference of tomato’s lowland farming between members and nonmembers of the farmer group and the factors of production, production scale and efficiency of farm production of lowland tomatoes in both members and nonmembers of farmer group.  The number of respondents in this study was taken by cencus method, in which all 62 farmer members and all 35 farmer nonmembers were involved.   The research data was collected during October 2015 - January 2016 and was analyzed by R / C ratios, different test (independent t-test), multiple linear regression using the Cobb Douglas production function and NPM / Px ratio.  The results showed that tomato farming was profitable business and profitability of farmer group members was higher than nonmembers’ farmers.  Land and labor significantly affected the production of tomatoes.  Tomato farming of farmer group members currently on the scale of production decreased (decreasing returns to scale) and the nonmembers’ farmers that were in production scale fixed (constant return to scale).  The production process tomato farming of both farmer group members and nonmembers farmer groups were not yet efficient.Key Words: efficiency, profits, tomatoes

Abstract

The research goals were to discover the level of food security and the factors that influenced the level of household food security of coffee farmers in West Lampung Regency.  The research was conducted at Sekincau and Way Tenong Sub district for those sub districts are centers of coffee production and food-prone subdistricts in West Lampung Regency.  By equal consideration, from each district were selected 2 villages: villages of Giham Sukamaju and Sekincau in Sekincau Subdistrict, while for Way tenong Subdistrict was selected villages of Tanjung Raya and Mutar Alam.  The research used household survey in 53 coffee farmers who were chosen by simple random sampling.  Cross-classification between expenditures and the share of household energy adequacy level developed was used to answer the first goal.  Ordinal logistic model was used to answer the second goal.  The results showed that the coffee farmer households who achieved the level of  food security as withstand was 15.09%, as less was 11.32%, as vulnerable was 62.26%, and the level of food insecurity was 11.32%.  Based on the test results obtained by ordinal logistic, the household food security was positively affected by household income and negatively by the price of rice. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cost structure and the income level of vegetable traders in Tamin Market Bandar Lampung City. This research is conducted in purposively chosen Tamin Market with the consideration that Tamin Market is a center of vegetable trade and the main market in Bandar Lampung City.  The data were collected in March 2017 and respondents were 15 vegetable traders who are willing to be interviewed, consisting of five stall traders, five los traders, and five street traders.  Data are analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative of cost and income analysis. The result showed that the traders' business cost structure consists of fixed cost and variable cost.  The propotion of variable cost is higher than the fixed cost, which is 99 percent of total cost. Variable costs include plastic cost, vegetable purchase, transport, labor, and information.  And fixed costs include rent cost, electricity and market facility fees. The average income of stall traders is higher than the loser traders and the street traders. The average income of stall traders is Rp817,055.00 per day, los traders is Rp737,604.00 per day, and street traders is Rp183,455.00 per day.Key words: cost structure, the level of income, vegetable traders

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the main production cost and the profit of chicken broiler business on partnership with PT CAS and nonpartnership. Data were collected in July 2018 at Bandar Mataram Sub- District of Lampung Tengah Regency which has been chosen purposively and the samples were drawn using purposive sampling method. The samples consisted of broiler breeders joining patrnership pattern with PT CAS and breeders who are nonpartnership. Data were analyzed using full costing and variable costing method for the main production cost and the profit of chicken broiler business. The results of this research showed that the main production cost of breeders joining the partnership was lower than that of nonpartnership breeders. The main production of partnership breeders was Rp18,158.69 with full costing method and Rp17,817.78 with variable costing method. Before fodder policy for pulling additional fodder Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGP) and Ractopamine, livestock broiler business was profitable, but it was unprofitable afterward.  Key words : broiler, main production cost, partnership

Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) onion farm income and (2) efficiency of onion marketing system.  Research was conducted in Tanggamus Regency which chosen purposely and total of samples was 35 farmers and 16 traders in marketing system.  Sampling methods of farmers was used by census method, whereas the sampling method of marketing system was used by snowball method.  Data collection was conducted in October 2014 until February 2015.  Analysis methods used in this research are the analysis of quantitative (statistical) and qualitative (descriptive).  The research result showed that (1) onion farm in Tanggamus Regency economically advantageous, base on the value of total cost R/C ratio > 1, on the first crop season of 1,73. (2) The marketing system of the onion in Tanggamus was not efficient due to the margin profit ratio in each marketing organization have not spread evenly, and the price difference (margin) in each marketing organization was too large, although the value of the producer share was quite large, with appromiximately 61,5%-76,9%. Abstract

The purposes of this research were to analyze the process of consumer’s decision making on organic rice purchasing and dominant component that influenced organic rice purchasing by consumers.  This research was conducted in Pringsewu District by considering that location one of the central productions and the pioneer of organic paddy farming in Lampung Province. The data was collected on June-July 2015 with survey method.  The samples of the research were 60 respondents both men and women that met the criteria such as having experience on buying and consuming organic rice at the last three months.  The data was analyzed usely descriptive analysis and statistic with validity, reliability, and principal component analysis.  The result showed that the process of decision making on organic rice purchasing by consumer was through all of the stage such as introduction needs, information searching, alternative evaluation, purchase decision and post purchase evaluation. There were three dominant components that influenced decision making on organic rice purchasing.  The first component was named habit component, the second component was named as appeal component, and the third component was named flavor component. Abstract

This research aimed to know the pattern of tofu and tempe consumption, and factors that affected tofu and tempe consumption.  The method used in this research was survay in which location was chosen purposively at Way Lunik village, Panjang Subdistrict, Bandar Lampung.  This research employed 60 sample families, in which housewives saved as respondents.  The data were taken in August 2017 and analyzed quantitatively by multiple linier regression and descriptive method.  The result showed that the average of total consumption of tofu by underprivilage families was 2,017.50 grams/week or 288.21 grams/day, while for tempe was 1,296.50 grams/week or 185.21 grams/day.  Underprivilage families ate tofu and tempe very often.  Consumption purposes of tofu and tempe was for pleasure and habit in which processing use deep frying and being sauteed. Underprivilage families consumpted tofu and tempe by buying.  Factors that affected on tofu consumption by underprivilage families were tofu price, chicken egg price, and number of family members; while factors that affected on tempe consumption by underprivilage families were salted fish price, chicken egg price, family income and the number of family members.Key words: consumption pattern, tempe, tofu, underprivilage families

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the food security and its affecting factors among fisherman households. This research was held in Kangkung Village,Teluk Betung Selatan Subdistrict of Bandar Lampung City using a survey method. Fifty one respondents of fisherman household were chosen by a simple random sampling. Household food security was valued by the segment of food expenditure, the energy sufficiency level, and the protein sufficiency level. The factors which were estimated affect the food security were analyzed by logistical method.  The research result showed that : (1) the food security of the fisherman household in Kangkung Village,Teluk Betung Selatan Subdistrict, Bandar Lampung City was categorized as food resistant (56,86%) and food insecurity (43,14%); (2) the household number, household expenditure, and housewives’ nutrition knowledge affected the household food security of the fisherman in Kangkung Village, Teluk Betung Selatan knowledge. Abstract

The aims of this research are to figure out the profit of each crop system at Tatakarya Village Abung Surakarta Subdistrict of North Lampung Regency. Primary and secondary data were collected in this reserch. The sampling used Simple Random Sampling. Amount of respondent consist of 24 farmers on rice-cassava crop system, 16 farmers on rice- rice- corn crop system, and 10 farmers on rice- rice- peanut crop system. This research took more and less than three months, started from April to June 2014. The result of this research showed that the average profit of agriculture business on rice-cassava crop system was Rp17,549,768.47/ha/year, on rice-rice-corn crop system was Rp27,225,066.06/ha/year, and rice- rice- peanut crop system was Rp36,933,811,55/ha/year. The production cost had significant influence of profit on the each crop system. The most profit crop system was rice- rice- peanut crop system with R/C ratio as big as 2.39 which means that for each Rp1.000,00 cost could get a profit of Rp1,390.00.
