Abstract

Introduction: The increase in the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Indonesia, including in Sigi District, Central Sulawesi Province, has prompted the need to strengthen early detection services through the POSBINDU NCD Program. Objective: To identify obstacles to the implementation of POSBINDU in the working area of the Kaleke Community Health Center. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on the framework of input, process, and output aspects. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with four key informants involved in POSBINDU PTM. Result and Discussion: The results of the study indicate that the constraints include limited funding that is entirely dependent on Health Operational Assistance (BOK), low quality of human resources due to a lack of ongoing training, and facilities without adequate maintenance support. In addition, the implementation of POSBINDU activities has not been consistent with standard operating procedures and the simultaneous use of manual and digital recording systems. Furthermore, low participation among the productive age group is attributed to rigid schedules and non-strategic activity locations, compounded by equipment limitations that affect the completeness of services. Conclusions: This study concludes that POSBINDU PTM has limitations in terms of structural readiness, human resource quality, and adequate logistical support.

Abstract

Hypertension in adults aged 45-55 years has a significant impact on heart health and morbidity. Hypertension is estimated to affect 1.56 billion people by 2025 and become a leading cause of death. In Indonesia, the prevalence is 18.7% in the 45-54 age group, with North Sulawesi ranking third highest. In Kotamobagu, hypertension ranks second among non-communicable diseases with 24,956 cases. This high number emphasizes the importance of prevention and control. A deep understanding of modifiable risk factors is needed to develop effective prevention strategies. This study aims to identify the primary risk factors that influence the prevalence of hypertension in the adult population of Kotamobagu City. This descriptive-quantitative study used an analytical observational study design with a cross-sectional technique. The study was conducted in Kotamobagu City, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, from July to August 2024. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional method, data collection using a digital sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure, an Easy Touch GCU Meter to analyze dyslipidemia and blood sugar levels, and a questionnaire to assess physical activity, diet, salt consumption, alcohol consumption, and smoking habits. The sample consisted of 388 hypertensive patients selected using the Slovin Formula, and the statistical analysis used was chi-square. The results showed that diet, dyslipidemia, obesity, high salt consumption, alcohol, and smoking were significantly correlated with hypertension. Based on the odds ratio, the factors that had the strongest relationship with the incidence of hypertension were poor diet (OR = 1.53), dyslipidemia (OR = 1.49), and excessive salt consumption (OR = 1.46).

Abstract

Introduction: Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB) in school settings plays a pivotal role in preventing diseases, enhancing student health, and fostering a clean and healthy environment. However, CHB implementation in Indonesian schools remains limited, leading to adverse public health effects, including an upsurge in diarrheal cases. Thus, enhancing CHB knowledge and practices in schools is imperative, especially in Central Sulawesi Province, which grapples with a high prevalence of diarrheal cases. Method: This community service initiative took place at SMP Negeri 13 Sigi, Sigi Regency, involving 336 students across different grade levels. Spanning three days in June 2022, the program employed pretest and posttest assessments via questionnaires. Education delivery encompassed material presentations, discussions, and the utilization of electronic and visual aids. Results: Research findings indicate a significant enhancement in students' comprehension of Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB) following the educational intervention. Previously limited in their understanding, students exhibited noticeable improvements in their knowledge of CHB after participating in the educational activities. These outcomes underscore the vital role of education and outreach in augmenting students' understanding and awareness of CHB. Conclusion: This initiative concludes that educational interventions and outreach efforts pertaining to PHBS in schools can positively impact students' awareness and knowledge of the significance of PHBS. It is anticipated that this heightened awareness will empower students to maintain school cleanliness and improve their health and hygiene practices.

Abstract

Diarrhea has been one of the major health issues, particularly among children, and the performance of healthcare workers in implementing effective diarrhea programs has been crucial for its prevention and treatment. The success of diarrhea control may be influenced by the performance of healthcare workers; however, implementation has remained suboptimal in some areas, including the Marawola Community Health Center, which has experienced fluctuating diarrhea incidence rates. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of healthcare workers' performance in implementing diarrhea programs on the prevalence of diarrhea cases among children. This study employed quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, conducted in the service area of the Marawola Health Center in 2024. The study sample consisted of 77 respondents selected using stratified random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires, and analysis was performed using logistic regression. The results of the logistic regression analysis indicated that the performance of healthcare workers in implementing the diarrhea program significantly affected the incidence of diarrhea in children (p = 0.017), although the constant value was not statistically significant (p = 0.163). This suggests that other factors need to be considered in addition to healthcare worker performance when optimizing the diarrhea program for children. In conclusion, the performance of healthcare workers needs to be improved in the implementation of diarrhea programs for children. Strategies such as training, supervision, the use of technology, and community involvement can be implemented. Further research is needed to explore other factors influencing the effectiveness of these programs.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, especially in rural areas with limited access to nutrition and sanitation. This community service activity aims to provide residents of Tosale Village, Donggala Regency, with knowledge about stunting prevention and the importance of environmental hygiene through a participatory educational approach. The implementation methods included field observations, stunting discussions, installation of educational visual media, as well as mutual cooperation activities and the cultivation of medicinal plants and vegetables. The results of the activity showed an increase in community understanding of balanced nutrition, clean and healthy lifestyles, the cultivation of medicinal plants and vegetables, and the revival of a culture of mutual cooperation. The stunting discussion forum served as a platform to encourage cross-community participation in the village, while visual media strengthened health literacy through easily understandable messages. Overall, this activity demonstrated that a participatory approach can increase collective awareness and preventive behavior against stunting while strengthening the independence of village communities in creating a sustainable healthy environment.
