Abstract

Increasingly complex urban mobility demands traffic supervision that is not only effective in the field but also supported by structured and integrated policy management. This study analyzes traffic supervision management at the policy level at the Batam City Transportation Agency, focusing on (1) the formulation of supervision and enforcement policies, (2) structural planning and decision-making, (3) governance of supervision implementation, including coordination, division of authority, and resource readiness; and (4) policy monitoring and evaluation. The study used a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with key traffic supervision actors at the Transportation Agency, observations of supervision activities, and reviews of policy and operational documents. Analysis was conducted thematically using an interactive model and triangulation of sources and techniques to increase the validity of the findings. The results show that the supervision policy framework tends to be responsive to daily issues but is not fully data-driven or systematic in its evaluation; this impacts variations in implementation, limited resource synchronization, inconsistent cross-agency coordination mechanisms, and monitoring and evaluation feedback. This study recommends strengthening oversight governance by standardizing risk-based SOPs, integrating data and performance indicators, institutionalizing coordination, and developing a sustainable monitoring and evaluation system to promote order, safety, and traffic efficiency in Batam City.

Abstract

Patient behavior in selecting clinical laboratory services is heavily influenced by the quality of interactions and recommendations they receive. However, a research gap exists regarding the psychological mechanisms driving these choices in "credence good" settings like clinical laboratories, where technical quality cannot be easily evaluated by patients. Addressing this gap, this study offers novelty by comparatively examining how Relationship Marketing (RM) and Word-of-Mouth (WOM) shape service selection decisions at Osmaro Clinical Laboratory in Batam, specifically through the mediating lens of trust. Using a causal-quantitative approach, data from 160 purposively sampled respondents were analyzed via SEM-PLS (SmartPLS 4). Findings confirm that both RM and WOM positively influence decisions, with the model demonstrating strong explanatory power (Trust R² = 0.628; Service Selection R² = 0.715). Notably, WOM emerges as a stronger driver of trust than RM. Theoretically, this extends healthcare marketing literature by proving that in opaque medical services, peer validation outweighs institutional relational efforts in establishing foundational trust. Managerially, laboratory operators must shift from relying solely on internal service protocols; resource allocation should prioritize safeguarding data ethics and curating exceptional patient experiences that organically stimulate positive WOM, as trust remains the ultimate catalyst for securing patient loyalty

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines how inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates affect Indonesia’s economic growth, highlighting investment as a mediating factor in this relationship. It addresses gaps in prior research by analyzing both direct and indirect effects of investment on growth outcomes. Methodology: A quantitative approach using SEM-PLS in SmartPLS 4.0 was applied to the questionnaire and macroeconomic data. The measurement and structural models were evaluated to test the relationships between macroeconomic variables and economic growth. Results: Inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates positively influence investments, significantly enhancing economic growth. Interest and exchange rates also have direct effects on growth, whereas inflation does not. Investment fully mediates the inflation–growth relationship and partially mediates the effects of interest and foreign exchange rates. Conclusions: Investment plays a critical role in linking macroeconomic conditions to economic growth, emphasizing its importance in policy strategies. Stable macroeconomic conditions contribute to investment growth, which, in turn, fosters economic expansion. Limitations: The study relies on cross-sectional and perception-based data, and future research should consider longitudinal and sectoral analyses to capture dynamic effects. Contributions: This study offers new insights into the mediating role of investment in Indonesia’s economic growth, providing both theoretical and policy implications that can guide future economic strategies.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the impact of financial performance on firm value growth in the context of global competition, focusing on the manufacturing industry in Batam. Methodology – A quantitative approach involving 10 companies and 110 participants was used in this research. Some data were collected through a questionnaire containing statements related to the variables of this research. SmartPLS software was used in data analysis to examine the relationships between variables and indicators that influence firm value growth. Findings – The results show that financial performance significantly affects the growth of firm value, with a very high correlation. In contrast, the relationships between financial performance and global competition, as well as between global competition and the growth of firm value, were not statistically significant. As a mediating variable, global competition does not provide a significant contribution, as indicated by a very low correlation value and T-statistics that are below the significance limit. These findings confirm that the effective financial performance management through improved profitability, liquidity, and solvency is an essential factor of the growth of firm value. Originality – This study offers new insight by exploring global competition as a mediating variable between financial performance and the growth of company value in the underexplored manufacturing sector in Batam.
