Abstract

This study aimed to determine the most effective learning strategies as perceived by university students. A survey was conducted to assess students’ preferences and perceptions regarding different teaching methods. Findings revealed a strong preference for collaborative learning, with group discussions and project-based learning being the most favored approaches. Students reported that these methods enhanced their understanding of the subject matter and promoted active engagement. While traditional lecture-based methods were also valued, they were generally preferred in conjunction with more interactive strategies. These results suggest that a blended learning approach, combining teacher-centered and student-centered methods, may be most effective in meeting the diverse needs and learning styles of today’s students. Future research could explore the impact of these preferred methods on student achievement and satisfaction.

Abstract

Globalisasi membawa perubahan sosial, budaya, dan spiritual yang signifikan, menantang individu dan komunitas untuk mempertahankan identitas moral serta nilai-nilai lokal. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep "Garam dan Terang Dunia" dalam konteks globalisasi serta mencari strategi dalam mempertahankan identitas di era modern. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui diskusi interaktif yang melibatkan akademisi, pemuka agama, dan masyarakat guna membahas tantangan serta peluang dalam menghadapi arus perubahan global. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mempertahankan nilai-nilai moral dan spiritual di tengah derasnya arus modernisasi. Namun, dengan memperkuat pemahaman akan peran individu dalam lingkungan sosial, meningkatkan literasi budaya dan agama, serta mengadopsi strategi adaptif tanpa kehilangan jati diri, identitas dapat tetap dijaga. Diskusi ini memberikan wawasan mengenai pentingnya keseimbangan antara keterbukaan terhadap perubahan dan keteguhan pada nilai-nilai fundamental. Dengan demikian, individu dapat tetap menjadi "garam dan terang dunia" yang memberikan pengaruh positif bagi lingkungan sekitarnya. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi awal dari gerakan yang lebih luas dalam mempertahankan identitas dan nilai-nilai moral di era globalisasi.

Abstract

This study compares Zoom and Google Meet in online learning to examine students' preferences and engagement. The research was conducted at Universitas Negeri Makassar with respondents from 4th-semester students of the Educational Technology Study Program. The method used was an experiment, where students attended classes using both platforms and then completed a survey. The results showed that 65% of students were more active when using Zoom, while 35% felt more comfortable with Google Meet. In terms of convenience, 60% preferred Zoom, and 40% preferred Google Meet. Zoom was favored due to its more interactive features, although Google Meet remained a simple and accessible option. In conclusion, Zoom is more effective in increasing student engagement, making it a recommended platform for online learning.

Abstract

This study provides closer insight into how Quantum Learning may be applied in teaching English to first-semester students in the Universitas Negeri Makassar Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Program. Given its emphasis on active participation, experiential learning, and the creation of a positive learning environment, Quantum Learning is considered a possible means of raising student motivation and participation in language acquisition. The survey consisted of 50 students and utilized a quasi-experimental design to measure the changes in student motivation and participation. Pretest and post-test questionnaires, classroom observations, and follow-up interviews were used to measure the changes. The findings showed a noticeable improvement: student motivation increased by 26.4% and participation increased by 32.0%. Class observations revealed that the students were more active and assertive, especially when discussing in groups, playing games, and conducting experiments. Some students even said that they felt less stressed when communicating in English and that learning was more fun compared to previous classes. But all was not well. One of the most significant challenges was the gap in the level of English proficiency among students. This necessitated teachers to adjust their style so that everyone could maintain pace. Differentiated instructions and adapted support are essential for making learning accessible. Finally, the observations are that Quantum Learning can prove to be a successful method for developing English classes and making them more interactive and student-centric, especially in the sphere of sports education. More research could examine its long-term effects, explore how it can be paired with technology, or examine how it contributes to other language skills, such as writing and listening.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the thoughts of Universitas Negeri Makassar student teacher regarding the dynamics of Indonesia's curriculum reforms. There was a survey conducted among 30 student teachers to identify their understanding of the curriculum, issues faced during its implementation, and recommendations for its improvement. The results show that although the students possess a good basic knowledge regarding curriculum theory, they are challenged by its Student Teachersin practice, particularly with regard to resource limitations and bureaucratic pressures. The students also recommended the provision of more practical training for prospective teachers, as well as facility and mentorship enhancements for the teachers in responding to the changes in the curriculum. This study provides information on how student teachers contribute perspectives that support the advancement of curriculum implementation in schools across Indonesia.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengenali dan memanfaatkan peluang bisnis sebagai langkah awal membangun usaha mandiri. Mahasiswa dituntut memiliki keterampilan kewirausahaan yang tidak hanya berfokus pada pencarian kerja, tetapi juga pada penciptaan lapangan kerja baru. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk webinar interaktif yang menggabungkan pendekatan teori dan praktik melalui sesi ceramah, studi kasus, dan simulasi perencanaan bisnis. Materi meliputi analisis SWOT, penyusunan Business Model Canvas (BMC), serta pemahaman tren pasar berbasis kebutuhan lokal mahasiswa. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 85% peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman dalam mengidentifikasi peluang usaha yang relevan dengan minat dan keterampilan mereka. Selain itu, 60% mahasiswa mampu menyusun rencana bisnis awal secara terstruktur yang mencakup strategi pemasaran, target pasar, dan proyeksi kebutuhan modal. Diskusi kelompok dan pendampingan intensif juga berkontribusi dalam membangun rasa percaya diri mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan dan mempresentasikan ide bisnis mereka. Kegiatan ini juga berhasil menciptakan ruang belajar yang inklusif, dengan partisipasi aktif dari mahasiswa lintas gender dan latar belakang sosial ekonomi. Keterbatasan waktu dan pengalaman menjadi tantangan utama, namun dapat diatasi melalui sesi lanjutan berupa mentoring teknis. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan dasar kewirausahaan digital, serta mendorong semangat wirausaha sebagai alternatif karier di era persaingan global. Kegiatan ini relevan dengan pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) poin 8, yaitu mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi dan penciptaan pekerjaan layak.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the need for using educational Podcast content in Indonesian language subjects, design poetry-themed educational Podcast content, and describe the level of validity and practicality of the developed product at MTs DDI Jarasua, Soppeng Regency. The method used is the ADDIE development model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results of the study indicate that educational Podcast content is highly needed by students in learning poetry. Product feasibility assessments showed that it was highly valid based on content/material expert validation and media expert validation. The small group trial showed the product was practical, while the large group trial showed it was highly practical. In conclusion, the developed poetry-themed educational Podcast content is valid and practical for use in poetry learning for eighth-grade students at MTs DDI Jarasua.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' attitudes at Universitas Negeri Makassar toward academic freedom within the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, particularly in the context of the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that students perceive an increased level of autonomy in selecting learning pathways aligned with their interests and needs, along with greater opportunities to actively participate in the learning process. However, institutional regulations and faculty policies continue to constrain the full realization of academic freedom. This study underscores the need for consistent policy support and structured guidance to foster a more effective implementation of academic freedom. The insights derived are expected to inform the development of higher education policies that are more responsive and student-centered.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mengoptimalkan penggunaan platform Kahoot dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan minat belajar mahasiswa. Kahoot, sebagai salah satu alat gamifikasi, telah terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan suasana belajar yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen untuk menguji dampak penggunaan Kahoot terhadap peningkatan minat belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Teknologi Pendidikan di Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket minat belajar yang diisi sebelum dan sesudah intervensi, serta melalui observasi partisipasi mahasiswa selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Kahoot secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan minat belajar mahasiswa. Mahasiswa merasa lebih termotivasi untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam kelas, menunjukkan peningkatan antusiasme dalam mengikuti kuis interaktif, serta lebih mudah memahami materi melalui visualisasi dan umpan balik langsung yang disediakan oleh Kahoot. Kelebihan utama Kahoot terletak pada kemampuan platform ini untuk menghadirkan elemen kompetisi yang sehat, meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, serta memberikan penilaian formatif secara real-time. Namun, beberapa tantangan yang dihadapi termasuk keterbatasan akses teknologi bagi sebagian siswa dan potensi fokus yang berlebihan pada kecepatan menjawab daripada pemahaman materi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan integrasi Kahoot dengan metode pembelajaran lain serta personalisasi penggunaan Kahoot sesuai kebutuhan mahasiswa. Dengan demikian, optimalisasi pembelajaran berbantuan Kahoot mampu meningkatkan minat belajar siswa secara signifikan dan memberikan dampak positif pada proses pembelajaran secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of creating sports demonstration videos on students' speaking fluency and accuracy in English. The research subjects were first-semester students of the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data were collected through video transcript analysis and student questionnaires. The findings indicate that practicing instructional delivery in videos enhances speaking fluency, as shown by reduced pauses and word repetitions. However, in terms of accuracy, errors were still found in grammar, word choice, and pronunciation of technical sports terms. The primary factors affecting accuracy were the lack of speaking practice in academic contexts and insufficient direct correction. This study confirms that project-based tasks, such as video creation, can be an effective strategy for improving students' speaking skills in second language learning.
