Abstract

Apple farming in the Tutur region faces adaptation challenges due to climate change, environmental degradation, and limited access to information. This study highlights the importance of contextual understanding of farmers' information-seeking behaviour by integrating Social Learning (Bandura) and Community of Practice (Wenger) theories. This study examines how farmers seek, interpret, and disseminate information; the social context that shapes the learning process; and the supporting and inhibiting factors of the community information ecosystem. A qualitative approach with a case study design explored apple farmers' learning practices in depth. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, and then analysed thematically with triangulation techniques for validity. Results show that farmers actively seek information through digital media, field experiments, and informal discussions. Learning occurs through observation, imitation, and social reinforcement, and is facilitated by a community of practice that encourages a culture of sharing. However, barriers such as closed-mindedness and institutional weaknesses are still found. This study emphasises the importance of participatory and community-based approaches in developing agricultural information systems. The findings are helpful for extension workers and policymakers to design interventions that are adaptive to farmers' social dynamics.

Abstract

Interrelated structural, social, and administrative factors still influence rural poverty in East Java. This activity aims to analyze the effectiveness of various approaches to poverty alleviation, develop an integrative model appropriate to the region's characteristics, and formulate recommendations for sustainable multi-strategy policies. Data collection was conducted through document studies, observations, and indept interview in three regency, Probolinggo, Blitar, and Nganjuk. The research results show that low agricultural productivity, limited market access, weak local economic institutions, dependence on social assistance, and inaccurate beneficiary data are the leading causes of rural poverty. Each region has a different context, ranging from mentalities and economic capacity barriers to infrastructure inequalities and data accuracy issues that trigger social conflicts. Based on these findings, a multi-strategy model was developed around three main pillars: sharpening fiscal and non-fiscal resources, integrating cross-sectoral programs with the same objectives, and filling program gaps through data strengthening and profession-based empowerment. The multi-strategy approach framework serves as a foundation to ensure that interventions are targeted and aligned with the real needs of the community. This recommendation model is expected to strengthen improve program effectiveness, and accelerate rural poverty reduction by increasing economic capacity and fostering more targeted policy synergies.

Abstract

The shift of da'wah to the digital space demands a reinterpretation of religious authority, no longer solely dependent on formal scholarly legitimacy but also on the formation of a persona through communication practices. However, previous research on Pemuda Tersesat has focused on humor and da'wah messages, without examining how the preacher's persona is discursively constructed and serves as a basis for religious legitimacy. This study aims to explain how the persona of Husein Ja'far is constructed in Pemuda Tersesat and how this construction produces religious authority and moderation in the digital space. Using a qualitative approach with Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis model, this study analyzes 10 selected episodes through the dimensions of text, discursive practices, and social practices. The results show the formation of a humorous, dialogical, rational, and moderate preacher persona, reinforced by audience responses in the form of recognition, emotional closeness, and moral legitimacy. This persona not only shapes a digital religious image but also encourages real social participation through collective philanthropic movements. The study concludes that the digital da'wah persona is a discursive construction that generates symbolic power and is a performative instrument of religious moderation. Theoretically, this study enriches the study of digital communication and da'wah by emphasizing the critical relationship between language, authority, and social practices in the formation of contemporary religious authority.
