Abstract

Abstract

Introduction : Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion, thus impacting on blood glucose levels. Calabura muntingia leaves are traditionally used as an alternative medicine because they contain flavonoid compounds which have anti-diabetic properties. In general, it is known that how to make traditional medicine is by boiling it, where the solvent only uses water so that the polar compounds will be attracted. The purpose of this study is to explain effectiveness the effect of administration between calabura muntingia leaves and calabura muntingia fruit through a review of studies related to blood sugar levelsin the last ten years.Method : Search for journals or articles using Scopus, Proquest, and Scholar indexed databases using appropriate keywords. The Center for Review and Dissemination and The Joanna Briggs Institute was used to assess the quality of the study. The framework used for the review is PICOS and the inclusion criteria used are English and Indonesian journals published in 2010 to 2020. Data analysis and tabulation are carried out in articles or journals. Title, abstract, full text and methodology are assessed to determine the eligibility of the article or journal. Results : Six hundred and forty-one articles were identified, there were eleven articles that fit the research criteria. The leaves of muntingia calabura and fruit of muntingia calabura contain flavonoids and saponins which can reduce blood sugar levels. A flavonoid compound that is thought to have activity in reducing blood glucose levels is quercetin. Conclusion : The form of extract, infusion, juice and stew did not change the content of the calabura muntingia plant.

Abstract

Introduction: Treatment that must continue, control, and diet that must be obeyed by people with DM can cause boredom (burnout) - inability to care for themselves, and blood sugar that is not controlled. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of diabetes resilience training on self-care, glycemic control, and diabetes burnout of adult type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental design. The total samples were 70 respondents (treatment and control) obtained by cluster sampling. The independent variable was diabetes resilience training and dependent variables were self-care, glycemic control, and diabetes burnout. The intervention provided for one month with four meetings. Instrument used self-care questionnaire of Self-Care Inventory-Revised (SCI-R), glycemic control questionnaire used an observation sheet for fasting blood sugar, and diabetes burnout questionnaire used Diabetes Distress-Screening Scale (DDS17). Data were analyzed with Wilcoxon signed ranks test, Mann Whitney U Test, Independent-sample t-test, and 1-Sample K-S. Results: There was an effect of diabetes resilience training on self-care (p = 0.003; p <0.05), glycemic control (p = 0.020; p <0.05), and diabetes burnout (p = 0,000; p <0.05). Conclusions: Diabetes resilience training provided by researchers to respondents can improve good self-care behavior, decreased glycemic control values, and decreased distress (diabetes burnout) in adult type 2 diabetes mellitus.  Based on the results, it is recomandation to nurses and health care provider to implementation the diabetes resilience training regularly.

Articles were selected with PRISMA based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, using the keywords psychology, resilience, society, and COVID-19. The results showed that there were 4973 articles consisting of 802 ScienceDirect articles, 1179 Scopus articles, 1856 Ebsco articles, and 1136 PubMed articles. Based on the analysis, 16 full-text articles met the inclusion criteria for review. The study's results classify factors that affect community resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic into internal and external factors. Good stability in individuals can minimize the psychological impact and increase the positive effects in everyday life. In conclusion, the resilience formed by internal and external factors makes people able to survive the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, adapt, overcome psychological problems, and remain active in creative activities.

Abstract

Brain changes that occur in the aging process including structure and function make it easier for the elderly to forget new information that they have just received, known as dementia. The right method to improve the symptoms of dementia is by painting the calligraphy "Allah + Muhammad". The research objective was to determine the effect of the "Allah + Muhammad" calligraphy painting method on improving writing skills and speaking skills in elderly people with dementia. This study used a quasy experimental design. The sample was 22 respondents who were taken based on simple random sampling technique, then made into two groups (intervention: 11 respondents; control: 11 respondents). The independent variable is the method of painting the calligraphy "Allah + Muhammad". The dependent variable is the ability to write and speak. Data collection using MMSE and Tadir questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon and Man-Whitney rating test with a significant value of p ≤0.05. The results of the Wilcoxon sign rating test in the experimental group for the MMSE test p = 0.007; Tadir test for speaking ability p = 0.008; and for writing ability p = 0.20. While in the control group for the MMSE test p = 0.309; Tadir test for speaking ability p = 0.414; and writing ability p = 1,000. Man-Whitney test results for MMSE p = 0.036; Tadir test for speaking ability p = 0.000; and for writing ability p = 0.002. It can be concluded that the method of painting calligraphy "Allah + Muhammad" can improve writing and speaking skills in elderly people with dementia. The suggestion expected from this research is that elderly nurses can provide the implementation of calligraphy painting in dementia elderly so that the elderly can apply it in their daily life.
