Abstract

One of the biggest problems for farmers in the dry season is the lack of water supply for irrigation. Currently, various types of pumps have been widely used, such as fuel pumps and pumps with PLN electricity. However, the costs required to operate these tools are quite expensive. The solution offered is to replace it with a 12 volt 50 Watt DC submersible water pump. The purpose of this study, namely to determine the productivity of the DC submersible pump in terms of the resulting discharge for various storage height conditions used. The research is an experimental research through Gold Standard Project-Based Learning (Gold Standard PBL)method consisting of Challenging Problem or Questions, Sustained Inquiry, Autheticity, Student Voice and Choice, Reflection, Critique and Revision, Publict Product. The results of this study, namely the height of the reservoir has an effect on the resulting discharge, there is a reduction in the resulting discharge every 0.5 m increase in the height of the reservoir. Based on the results of the analysis using Microsoft Excel, it is obtained that the maximum height limit for submersible pump push is 3.7 m using a ¾ inch hose. The results of this study can be a reference for farmers or users to determine the height of the water reservoir

Abstract

Pile driving tests were conducted using models of concrete piles with titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating and piles without coating. Pile surfaces coated with TiO2 become superhydrophilic, which enables water molecules in clay pores to be attracted to the pile during the pile driving process. The attraction suppresses the compression of the pore water in the clay soil, hence the result of the pile driving tests showed that piles with TiO2 coating could penetrate deeper than piles without coating with the same count of hammer strokes. An examination using FTIR confirmed the formation of bonds between water molecules for piles with coating and the absence of such bonding for piles without coating. Furthermore, it was successfully established that pile surface coating gives different results for pile driving in different clay soils.

Abstract

Abstrak. Kajian fenomena resonansi kolom udara yang ujungnya terbuka sebagian belum pernah ditemukan dalam materi pembelajaran fisika, menyebabkan pengetahuan konsep mahasiswa tentang resonansi kolom udara tidak utuh. Telah dilakukan perancangan alat sederhana dan penyelidikan resonansi sistem kolom udara berdasarkan variasi luas ujung terbuka untuk mengetahui pola hubungan antara variasi luas ujung pipa terbuka dengan frekuensi. Eksperimen ini dilakukan dengan suling pipa PVC tanpa lubang nada yang ditiup dengan alat sederhana yang dirancang sebagai kompresor balon. Sinyal suara yang dihasilkan direkam dengan software Audacity dan kandungan frekuensi harmonik dianalisis dengan algoritima Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa variasi luas ujung pipa terbuka dari sistem kolom udara berpengaruh terhadap frekuensi bunyi secara logarithmic. Implikasi konsep ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan pertimbangan untuk mengembangkan diafragma pengatur luas ujung alat musik tiup sebagai pengatur tuning nada mengingat kebanyakan alat musik tiup tidak memiliki bagian penyetem nada.Kata kunci: Variasi luas ujung kolom udara dan resonansi.Abstract. Studies the resonance phenomenon at the open end partially of a pipe never been found in physics learning material, causing the students conceptual about pipe resonance to be incomplete. Simple apparatus and investigation of resonance pipe systems have been carried out based on the variation of open-end area to know the relationship with the frequency using a PVC flute pipe without tone holes and blown with a simple balloon compressor. Sound signals generated are recorded by Audacity software and to analyze the harmonic frequency content using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. The results of this study show that the variation wide of the open end of the air column significantly influences the sound frequency as logarithmic. The implication of this concept can be used as a diaphragm to regulates the wide-open end of a wind instrument as a tuning tone.Keywords: Resonance and Variation of the ends of the air column.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran dengan Guided Discovery Model Assisted by Interactive Simulation (GDM-IS) untuk mengidentifikasi dampaknya terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa pada konsep fluida statis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan 4D untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran namun hanya dilakukan 3 tahap yaitu Define, Design, dan Development. Pada tahapan development, dilakukan validasi terhadap perangkat pembelajaran GDM-IS yang telah dikembangkan yang meliputi RPP, Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD), Media Pembelajaran serta lembar pengamatan keterampilan proses sains. Uji coba terbatas menggunakan desain penelitian One Shoot Case Study. Dalam desain ini instrumen pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan digunakan dalam satu kelas sebagai sampel sebanyak 38 peserta didik. Data keterampilan proses sains diambil melalui observasi oleh dua orang pengamat. Berdasarkan analisis hasil validasi penilaiant terdadapi RPP, LKPD dan media berada pada persentasi diatas 80% yang masuk dalam kategori valid (baik). Selain itu data keterampilan proses desain siswa berada pada persentase di atas 80% dengan kategori sangat. Abstract. This study aims to develop a learning tool with Guided Discovery Model Assisted by Interactive Simulation (GDM-IS) to identify its impact on students' science skills processes on the concept of statistical fluids. This research uses the 4D development method to produce learning tools, but only 3 stages are carried out, namely Define, Design, and Development. At the development stage, validation is carried out on the GDM-IS learning tools that have been developed which include RPP, Student Worksheets (LKPD) and Learning Media. Limited trial using the One Shoot Case Study research design. The learning instrument design that has been developed in one class is a sample of 38 students. The process of science data skills is taken through observation by two observers. Based on the analysis of the results of the validation of the assessment against RPP, student worksheets and media are at a percentage above 80% which is included in the valid (good) category. In addition, the data on the design process skills of students were in the proportion above 80% in the very category.

Abstract

The solution to overcome this is using DC submersible pumps using solar panels as an energy source. The purposes of this study are to (1) determine the duration of operation of the DC submersible pump with the specifications of the battery and solar panels used, and (2) determine the productivity of the DC submersible pump in terms of the resulting discharge for various storage height conditions used. The research method used is an experimental research method using a quantitative approach. The results of this study are (1) DC submersible pump can operate for 240 minutes with 20 Ah battery at maximum voltage and uses 60 Wp solar panels, and (2) the height of the storage has an effect on the resulting discharge, there is a reduction in the resulting discharge every 0.5 meters increase in the height of the storage. Based on the analysis results, the maximum height limit for submersible pump push is 3.7 meters using a 3 per 4 inch hose. The results of this study can be a reference for farmers or users to determine the height of the water storage.DOI: 10.17977/um024v6i22021p061

Abstract

Chlorophyll a is the most abundant pigment on Earth responsible for trapping light energy to perform photosynthesis in green plants. This molecule has been studied for many years from different points of interest with both experimental and theoretical methods. In this study, the Restricted Hartree-Fock/Configuration Interaction Single (RHF/CIS), Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TDDFT), and several semi-empirical methods (CNDO/S and ZINDO) calculations were carried out to reconstruct the UV-Vis absorption spectra of chlorophyll a. To some extent, the calculation results based on the single-molecule approach succeeded to reconstruct the absorption spectra, but they required to be rescaled to fit the experimental results. In general, the semiempirical methods provide a better energy scaling factor. However, they lack vertical transition fine features with respect to the spectrum obtained experimentally. In this case, the ab initio calculations provided more complete features, especially the TDDFT with high-level basis sets, which also has a good accuracy with regards to the transition energies. The contribution of the ground state and excited state orbitals in the main vertical transitions is discussed based on the delocalized nature of the wave functions and the presence of solvents using the polarizable continuum model (PCM).

Abstract

We propose a model for predicting the fluctuation of electron states in thin films as a function of film thickness. The model is derived based on the assumption of the existence of potential barrier fluctuation on the film surface. Since the wave functions of electrons in the film are determined by the boundary conditions of the potential on the film surface, the potential fluctuation on the film surface implies fluctuation of the electron states in the film. The model was extended to predict the effect of size on the lattice constant of thin films or nanoparticles.

Abstract

Abstrak: Belajar sains pada hakekatnya merupakan kegiatan berpikir dan memerlukan proses penyelidikan. Namun pembelajaran dan pengajaran fisika terkait fenomena getaran-gelombang masih dirasa sulit dan tidak menarik bagi kebanyakan peserta didik. Penelitian bertujuan mengidentifikasi profil pembelajaran dan pengajaran yang diterapkan saat ini, mengidentifikasi penggunaan media ICT, dan menganalisis ketersediaan sarana-prasarana penunjang, serta nilai karakter yang dimiliki peserta didik. Jenis Penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif, sampel diambil secara Purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket tertutup yang diperkuat dengan wawancara, dan analisis data menggunakan kategori prosentase yang dideskripsikan secara kualitatif. Disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dan pengajaran konsep getaran-gelombang belum berfokus pada pengembangan keterampilan, kreatifitas dan aktivitas penyelidikan, literasi dan integrasi TIK masih sangat minim meski sarana-prasarana cukup tersedia. Nilai karakter dalam kerja sama dan rasa ingin tahu peserta didik sudah cukup baik, namun nilai keperdulian dan tanggung jawab terhadap pelestarian lingkungan masih rendah. Diperlukan desain pembelajaran dan pengajaran getaran-gelombang yang lebih kontekstual, terintegrasi dengan teknologi, dan memfokuskan pada proses yang berpusat pada peserta didik.Abstract: Learning science is essentially thoughtful and requires an inquiry process. However, learning and teaching physics on vibration-wave phenomena is still difficult and unattractive to most learners. This study aims to identify current learning and teaching profiles, identify the use of ICT, and analyze the availability of supporting facilities, as well as the value of characters that the learner has. Type of research is descriptive qualitative, samples taken by purposive sampling. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire reinforced by interviews, and data analysis using a percentage category that is described qualitatively. It was concluded that learning and teaching physics have not focused on skills, creativity, and investigation activities. Literacy and ICT integration are still minim although adequate facilities are available. The value of character in cooperation and curiosity of learners is good, but the value of caring and responsibility towards environmental conservation is still low. So it needs a more contextual learning and teaching design of vibration-waves, integrated with technology, and focuses on a learner-centered process.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendesain kegiatan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada keterampilan kerja ilmiah, pengelolaan alat musik tradisional dan pengelolaan perangkat teknologi digital sebagai sumber belajar melalui matakuliah gelombang, selain itu mengetahui tingkat keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan respon mahasiswa terhadap desain kegiatan pembelajaran yang diterapkan. Desain pembelajaran dilakukan dengan cara studi literatur dan studi kasus pada sejumlah kelompok belajar (19 orang mahasiswa) calon guru fisika. Aspek-aspek desain dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dievaluasi berdasarkan pengamatan dan respon mahasiswa menggunakan lembar observasi serta kuisioner, sedangkan tanggapan responden dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan rating scale. Orientasi desain pembelajaran gelombang dalam penelitian ini adalah menghubungkan sains dengan teknologi dan masyarakat, mengintegrasikan konten dengan proses penyelidikan ilmiah serta sumber belajar yang kontekstual dengan objek atau peristiwa yang dekat dengan mahasiswa, sekaligus dapat membentuk nilai-nilai budaya. Secara umum setiap aspek dalam desain perkuliahan dapat terlaksana sepenuhnya, dengan rata-rata 98,12%. Sementara itu respon mahasiswa terhadap desain pembelajaran dapat diterima secara positif untuk setiap aspek dari implementasi program pembelajaran dengan skor rata-rata 399,91 (S). Disimpulkan bahwa desain perkuliahan yang dibangun dicirikan oleh sintaks yang meliputi kegiatan awal, eksplorasi, pemfokusan, penyelidikan/inkuiri, elaborasi, konfirmasi, dan kegiatan akhir/penutup, sedangkan sumber belajar melibatkan alat musik tradisional, komputer dan smartphone. Desain pembelajaran dapat mengembangkan kualitas ilmiah mahasiswa calon guru fisika yang diindikasikacn oleh porsentase keterlaksanaan yang mencapai target dan respon positif mahasiswa setelah diterapkannya dalam kegiatan perkuliahan.Design of Wave Learning to Form Prospective Students of Physics Teachers who are Skilled, Cultured and Literacy of Digital TechnologyAbstractThe purpose of this study is to design learning activities oriented to scientific performance, management of traditional music instruments and digital technology devices as a source of learning on wave courses, knowing the profile of the implementation of learning, and student responses to the design of learning activities that are applied. Learning design is done by means of literature studies and case studies in groups (19 students) prospective physics teachers. The aspects of design and implementation of learning are evaluated based on observations and responses of students using observation sheets and questionnaires, while respondents responses are analyzed descriptively based on rating scale. The orientation of the wave learning design in this research is connecting science with technology and culture, integrating content with scientific inquiry processes and learning resources that are contextual with objects or events that are close to students, as well as forming cultural values. In general, every aspect in the design of lectures can be fully implemented, with an average of 98.12%. Meanwhile student responses to learning designs can be positively received for every aspect of the implementation of learning programs with an average score of 399.91 (S). It was concluded that the learning design that was built was characterized by syntax which included initial activities, exploration, focusing, inquiry, elaboration, confirmation, and closing section activities, while learning resources involved traditional musical instruments, computers and smartphones. The learning design can develop the scientific quality of the prospective physics teacher students as indicated by the percentage of accomplishment that reaches the target and the positive response of students after applying it in lecture activities.

Abstract

In supporting the success of online learning, it is necessary to increase the creativity of educators in developing and using learning media applications. The purpose of this research is to provide training and assistance to lecturers, teachers and prospective teacher students in making Windows and Android-based learning applications. The structured training program is carried out in collaboration between lecturers from the Teacher Training and Education Faculty and partner teams from the Permata Bunda Educational Institution through the Kedaireka Matching Fund program. The training was carried out in a hybrid manner with details of 10 participants participating offline and 60 participants participating online. The training was carried out for one day by dividing into 3 types of activities, namely the introduction of learning applications, direct practice of making learning applications and as a closing activity a questionnaire was given as an evaluation of the success of the activity. Based on the evaluation results obtained information that 14.26% of participants have been able to develop learning applications up to the publication stage, 71.43% of participants have been able to develop learning application content and 10% of participants are able to complete the learning media framework design stage, while 4 ,26% are still at the stage of program installation. In addition, at the end of the activity, participants also filled out a satisfaction questionnaire with the ongoing training activities. Based on the response analysis of participants' satisfaction above 85% which is included in the very good category. This shows that participants are very satisfied with the training they have received
