Abstract

Lecturers are human resources who have the main role in higher education. However, as significant assets of higher education, lecturers often indicate a low level of job satisfaction and organizational commitment, which is caused by unprofessional and disproportionate task load division procedures and systems as well as ineffective leadership styles which then lead to the intention of lecturers leaving the organization. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effects of instructional leadership and task load on lecturers’ organizational commitment and job satisfaction. This is an experimental study which uses quantitative methods by using a structured questionnaire that is distributed to 60 lecturers who work at the Dental Faculty of IIK Bhakti Wiyata Kediri. The Partial Least Square (PLS) is used in this study as a statistical tool to test research hypotheses. The findings indicate that instructional leadership has positive effects on organizational commitment (p = 0.297) and job satisfaction (p = 0.301), while task load has negative effects on organizational commitment (p = -0.553) and job satisfaction (p = -0.364). These findings have implications for the importance of the ability of leaders in higher education to be able to manage proportional and fair workload assignments to increase lecturers’ organizational commitment to the organization. The findings also encourage the ability of leaders in higher education to be able to build closer social relationships with lecturers both psychologically and emotionally to understand their level of job satisfaction in order to achieve organizational goals effectively.

Abstract

Background: A disaster is a serious disruption in the functioning of a society that can cause many losses. It can be caused by nature or humans. When the loss of life is on a large scale, the recovery process is made more complicated by simultaneous identification operations. Biological profiling is of paramount importance when investigating cases; the age at which a victim dies is crucial for reconstructing the victim’s life. Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to highlight the utility of palatal suture obliteration as a valuable indicator for age estimation in adults, especially when there are minimal remaining dental elements that make age estimation by other methods of dental analysis impossible. Case: The author presents a case of burn victims due to a fire disaster in the fuel oil terminal area in Jakarta that killed several victims. As they were found in a visually unrecognizable condition, without identity documents, and in a state where the victims’ teeth left few dental elements, effort is needed to assist in identifying the victims, including victim age estimation techniques with ideal methods that can be applied in the field. Case management: The Crow-Glassman Scale (CGS) is used to describe the extent of burns to tissue remnants. On external examination, all body parts showed the burns reaching level 3 CGS. The victim is estimated to be over 50 years old. Decision making is based on the guidelines of the Mann method, wherein if more than 50% of the anterior median palatine suture is obliterated, then the minimum estimated age is 50 years. Conclusion: The obliteration of the palatal sutures can be used as supporting evidence when considered alongside other more reliable age indicators that can narrow down the age of unidentified individuals.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are still the main cause of high morbidity and mortality rates in hospitals. Infections that occur in health services are called Health-care Associated Infections (HAIs) or nosocomial infections. As health workers, students of the dental profession have an obligation to control infection, by washing their hands according to WHO standards, because the hands are the dominant means of movement used when working so compliance with hand washing is very influential in preventing the chain of infection. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of dental professional students and hand washing compliance at RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata. This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with 100 respondents and processed using the SPSS Chi-Square test. The research results showed that the p value was 0.000 < 0.05, meaning there was a significant relationship. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of dental professional students and their hand washing compliance at RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata.

Abstract

Children's dental health is a crucial foundation for their future growth, development, and quality of life. The high caries rate among elementary school children in Indonesia indicates a low level of awareness about maintaining dental hygiene from an early age. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve students' understanding of dental and oral health through education, toothbrushing demonstrations, educational games, and direct dental health examinations. The activity was conducted with 20 students in grades I–VI at an elementary school. Results showed a 20% increase in student knowledge and the identification of various dental problems such as caries, plaque, and mild gingivitis. This program has had a positive impact on increasing oral health awareness in children and serves as a foundation for ongoing development.
