Abstract

Infrastructure development in Indonesia has undergone significant changes in construction materials, including concrete. This study aims to analyze the influence of sample shape and cement brand on the compressive strength of concrete. The analysis utilizes a factorial experimental design approach, with two factors: sample shape (cylinder and cube) and cement brand (Gresik, Tiga Roda, Holcim, and Merah Putih) as fixed factors. The total number of samples used is 30. Concrete compressive strength data were collected at the Muhammadiyah University Jember Laboratory, with samples immersed for 28 days. The data were analyzed using the two-way ANOVA method with SPSS software. The results of the analysis show no significant difference in the influence of sample shape on concrete compressive strength (Sig. 0.397 > 0.05). However, for the cement brand factor, there is a significant difference (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Statistically, there is no interaction between sample shape and cement brand on concrete compressive strength (Sig. 0.570 > 0.05). The practical application of this testing and methodology in the field of Civil Engineering, particularly in concrete technology, allows for the selection of the optimal sample shape between cubes and cylinders and the determination of high-quality cement brands for infrastructure projects.

Abstract

The community already understands the ability of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) to carry out mitigation, preparedness, emergency response and handling of victims. It's just that so far MDMC has not been able to carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation of houses that have cracked due to earthquakes. In the future, this shortcoming can be minimized by providing assistance in applying ferrocement technology to rehabilitate and reconstruct houses cracked due to shocks caused by earthquakes. There are two problems faced by this institution, first, volunteers still do not understand the technical causes and technology that can be used to overcome cracks in the walls of houses due to earthquakes. Second, volunteers do not have the skills to reconstruct and rehabilitate the walls of houses that have cracked due to earthquakes. The objectives of this activity are first, MDMC volunteers understand how biopore technology works, second, MDMC Volunteers are Skilled in Applying Ferrocement Technology for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Houses Due to Earthquake Disasters. There are two things that must be done to achieve these two targets. The two things are, first, providing guidance and counseling on ferrocement technology, second, providing simulations of the application of ferrocement technology. After being given assistance, counseling and simulation, the ability of volunteers increased by 48.75. Before the activity was held, the ability of volunteers was in the less category. After the activities of the service program in the Muhammadiyah association, volunteer activities increased to the excellent category.

Abstract

Engineering economics is a discipline that combines economic principles with engineering analysis to evaluate the financial feasibility of projects and investments. At SMKN 1 Situbondo, the application of this knowledge is important in order to improve the financial analysis skills of students and school administrators. Vocational education requires a more practical and applicable approach, especially in the context of business development and projects that require initial investment. This service aims to apply technical economics in analyzing the financial feasibility of businesses at SMKN 1 Situbondo, with the main focus on increasing the competence of students and school managers in understanding and applying technical economics concepts in the context of business and entrepreneurship. Implementation of this activity begins with observation to determine the goal of the school where this service activity is to be held, from the results of the observation we determine which SMKN 1 Situbondo is the goal of this service activity, followed by a survey as well as coordination with teaching staff and submitting a permission letter from the campus for service activities, followed by counseling which contains material presentations, discussions and questions and answers, as well as training in Excel calculations to assess the feasibility of a business, finally we conduct an evaluation of the service activities that have been carried out. Overall, this service not only succeeded in improving technical skills in financial analysis but also had a positive impact on students' readiness to face the challenges of the business world. These results show that the application of technical economics at SMKN 1 Situbondo has been successful and provides sustainable benefits for the school community. This service shows that the application of technical economics at SMKN 1 Situbondo has succeeded in improving the quality of vocational education, preparing students for the challenges of the business world, and making a positive contribution to local economic development. These results emphasize the importance of integrating engineering economics in the vocational education curriculum and the need for ongoing support for the development of the competencies of students and school administrators

Abstract

Technological advances make it possible to utilize natural resources efficiently. However, shortages occur when demand exceeds supply, making goods/services an economic object. This service aims to increase students' understanding of these concepts and provide provisions for them to face economic challenges in the future. Implementation of the activity began with a survey to determine the purpose of the school where this service activity was to be held. From the results of the survey we decided to carry out the service at SMAN Tamanan, followed by coordination with the teaching staff and submitting a permission letter from the campus for the service activity. A survey was conducted to determine student understanding, then a pre-test was carried out to assess initial understanding. Next, the material is delivered with discussion, followed by questions and answers to discuss concepts and review understanding. After that, a post-test was carried out to measure students' understanding after education, and continued with descriptive statistical analysis of the collected data. The results of this activity show a significant increase in students' understanding after receiving a comprehensive explanation. The pre-test and post-test showed an increase in student understanding, with 26% of students showing an increase in understanding after the socialization activities. This shows that this activity is effective in increasing students' understanding of the basic concepts of engineering and investment economics. Overall, this report shows that the use of technical economics at SMAN 1 Tamanan has succeeded in raising vocational teaching standards, preparing students to face the demands of the business world, and improving the local economy. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating engineering economics into vocational education curricula as well as the need to continue to foster the professional growth of students and administrators.

Abstract

Pada saat ini investasi sudah mulai diminati dan dipraktekan di kalangan masyarakat ataupun mahasiswa, namun tidak semua masyarakat sadar akan pentingnya investasi yang benar. Pengelolaan investasi yang benar akan membawa keuntungan dan membuat kondisi finansial menjadi meningkat. Tujuan dilaksanakan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman dasar tentang investasi baik secara teori maupun praktek langsung. Oleh karena itu, ikut serta dalam sosialisasi sangat penting karena dapat memberikan manfaat yang banyak sebagai bekal pengetahuan tentang investasi setelah lulus sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan tema “Investasi : Kelayakan Finansial Menggunakan Metode Net Present Value (NPV) dan Internal Rate of Return (IRR)” ini dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Sipil, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember, dengan menggunakan metode yang mempunyai empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan pelaporan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 02 Mei 2024 di SMK Negeri 2 Jember secara langsung. Pada saat sebelum sosialisasi, terlihat pemahaman siswa mengenai investasi masih kurang, sebagian siswa menunjukkan pemahaman yang kurang baik, hal ini dapat dibuktikan melalui data diagram yang sudah ditampilkan. Sedangkan setelah sosialisasi, terlihat pemahaman siswa mengenai investasi sangat bervariasi. Sebagian siswa menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik namun terdapat sejumlah siswa yang perlu memperdalam pemahaman mengenai metode analisis kelayakan investasi. Hal ini menandakan adanya kesenjangan dalam tingkat pemahaman di antara siswa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya lebih lanjut untuk membantu siswa agar dapat memperbaiki dan menambah pemahaman tentang investasi. Abstract

Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is a widely used method in investment analysis to assess the feasibility and potential returns on a project. IRR is the discount rate at which the net present value (NPV) of all cash flows generated by the project becomes zero. Students of Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 1 Jember can analyze whether a project is profitable or not with the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) analysis. This community service activity begins with observation and coordination, the next steps in sequence are the preparation of materials and tools, guidance and counseling on IRR, Simulation of IRR Application, and Evaluation of the success of the program is carried out by giving a pretest-posttest. After all the activities were carried out, a reassessment was carried out. The average score obtained was 83.75. This value increased very significantly when compared to before the implementation of the activity the average was 13.75. The implementation of this community service activity has successfully completed all the steps of the service. The evaluation results showed that all participants who took part in the training had improved their abilities with an average score of 70.

Abstract

Education is a crucial aspect in the development process that aims to improve the quality of human and economic resources. SMA Negeri Balung, as one of the leading schools in Balung Sub-district, implements a Full Day School program. Unfortunately, there is no specific subject on investment. In this service activity, students are introduced to the concept of Internal Rate of Return (IRR) in investment. The purpose of this activity is to increase students' understanding of investment and its application in everyday life. Students are able to simulate investment analysis on construction project case studies. The activity method includes the delivery of coordination meetings, making materials, making assignment letters and proposals, surveying the location of the service, submitting assignment letters and proposals, implementing the service and evaluating the success of the service. This activity was carried out at the Balung Jember State Senior High School (SMA) on April 24, 2024. Before the implementation of the activity, the average level of student understanding of the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) was 48. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in student understanding, where the average post-test score was 79. This activity has increased students' ability by 31 points. The conclusion of this activity is that the introduction of IRR successfully improved students' knowledge of investment and its future applications. Students showed active participation during the material delivery session.

Abstract

Community service by students is an effort by students to assist and provide services to the community with the aim of improving and empowering the community through the application of applications, designs, technology, or positive social change. The problem faced by high school students, especially vocational schools, is the lack of provision about making a business, especially determining the feasibility of a business. To help this, a service was held by students on financial feasibility material using the NVP and IRR methods. So that students of SMK Muhammadiyah Jember have a view if they want to start a business what must be carefully prepared so that the decisions taken are not wrong steps. Starting from preparation to implementation and report writing was carried out in May 2024. The type of activity held was socialization. The activity was carried out as scheduled and attended by around 13 participants. The socialization went smoothly and was attended by 11th grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Jember. From the socialization activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that this activity can increase the knowledge of 11th grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Jember about determining the feasibility of a business using the NVP and IRR methods so that if after graduation they want to build a business, they will already have the provision to determine the feasibility of the business they will build.Keywords: Community service by students, NVP, IRR, Socialization, Financial stewardship analysis

Abstract

Abstrak Pimpinan Daerah Nasyiatul Aisiyah (PDNA) Kabupaten Jember memiliki beberapa permasalahan, diantaranya (1) Belum memiliki metode untuk memetakan pemahaman, pengetahuan serta keahlian kader, (2) Belum memiliki metode merancang pengkaderan sesuai dengan peta pemahaman, pengetahuan serta keahlian kader. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah agar PDNA memiliki pemahaman menganai rasch model sebagai sebuah metode untuk memetakan kemampuan kader. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dimulai dengan koordinasi, penyiapan bahan dan alat, bimbingan dan penyuluhan, simulasi serta evaluasi keberhasilan kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa nilai posttest peserta sebesar 85 poin. Sebaliknya nilai pretest peserta sebesar 26,67 poin. Peningkatan kemampuan peserta bernilai positif yakni sebesar 58,33. Hasil evaluasi tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masuk dalam kategori berhasil. Kata kunci: rasch model; ministep; PDNA; pengkaderan AbstractThe Regional Leadership of Nasyiatul Aisiyah (PDNA) of Jember Regency has several problems, including (1) not having a method to map the understanding, knowledge and expertise of cadres, (2) not having a method to design cadre according to the map of understanding, knowledge and expertise of cadres. The purpose of this activity is for the PDNA to have an understanding of the Rasch model as a method for mapping cadre abilities. The method of implementing this activity begins with coordination, preparation of materials and tools, guidance and counseling, simulation and evaluation of the success of the activity. The evaluation results showed that the posttest score of the participants was 85 points. In contrast, the pretest score was 26.67 points. The increase in participants' abilities was positive, namely 58.33. Abstract

AbstrakDi era globalisasi dan perkembangan ekonomi yang pesat, literasi keuangan menjadi keterampilan penting yang harus dimiliki oleh generasi muda. Studi ekonomi teknik dapat didefinisikan sebagai sebuah perbandingan antara alternatif-alternatif dimana perbedaan diantara alternatif itu dinyatakan dalam bentuk uang. Pengenalan investasi proyek perumahan pada siswa SMA diharapkan tidak hanya meningkatkan literasi keuangan mereka, tetapi juga menumbuhkan minat menjadi wirausahawan muda. Dengan banyaknya siswa yang minat pada mata pelajaran ekonomi maka pengenalan ekonomi teknik ini dapat membantu siswa untuk mengetahui tentang investasi pada proyek yang ditampilkan. Memberikan penyuluhan agar siswa SMA dapat mengetahui apa saja investasi yang ada dalam teknik sipil. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian penulisan artikel dilakukan dengan 2 sesi, sesi pertama yaitu penyampaian materi dengan presentasi kepada siswa, dan sesi kedua yaitu tanya jawab untuk pemahaman kepada siswa. Mitra dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember, Kabupaten Jember. Jumlah peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan ini, sekaligus akan dinilai aktivitasnya selama pelatihan berjumlah 30 siswa. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian tersebut juga dijelaskan bagimana cara investasi baik dan pemberian materi tentang ekonomi teknik karena berhungan dengan investasi yang di presentasikan. Kata Kunci: literasi keuangan; investasi proyek perumahan AbstractIn the era of globalization and rapid economic development, financial literacy has become an essential skill for the younger generation to possess. Engineering economics can be defined as a comparison between alternatives, where the differences between these alternatives are expressed in monetary terms. Introducing housing project investments to high school students is expected not only to enhance their financial literacy but also to foster an interest in becoming young entrepreneurs. With many students interested in economics subjects, the introduction of engineering economics can help them understand investments in the projects presented. Providing education to high school students about the various investments available in civil engineering is crucial. The implementation of the article writing service activities was conducted in two sessions: the first session involved delivering the material through a presentation to the students, and the second session involved a question-and-answer segment to ensure student comprehension. The partner for these service activities was the 11th grade science class 2 students from SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember, located in Jember Regency. The number of participants who joined the activities, whose engagement during the training would also be assessed, was 30 students. During these service activities, explanations were also given on how to invest properly and materials on engineering economics were provided due to their relevance to the presented investments. Keywords: financial literacy; housing project investment
