Abstract

Abstract

Plat propagation through is a method of prodycing new plants by growing unspecified clusters (callus) from small pieces of tissue (explants) such as Gapi banana flowers. This study seeks to determine the appropriate doses of 2,4-D and BAP for callus formation. The study was conducted from September to October 2025 at the Tissue Culture Laboratory of Gorontalo State University, using male Gapi banana flowers explants. The experiment used a randomized block design (RBD) involving two factors: 2,4-D (2ppm) and BAP (5, 10, 15 ppm). The percentage of live explants (%) was observed weekly for 30 days. Final observation included browning, The results showed that the addition of 2,4-D and BAP to the medium greatly affected the percentage of live explants. Without these substances, the explants turned brown. Fungal contamination was dominant at D0 (control) and D2 (2 ppm 2,4-D + 10 ppm BAP). The callus was white/cream to greenish in color, with a firm texture. The percentage of callus-forming explants (%) increased with the addition of BAP (5, 10 and 15ppm), significantly affecting callus formation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the land suitability class and limiting factors for maize (Zea mays L.) in Tilamuta District, Boalemo Regency. The study will take place from August 2025 to September 2025 in Tilamuta District, Boalemo Regency. The method used in this study is the matching method, or matching between land characteristics and quality with the criteria for maize land suitability. The results of the analysis show that the actual land suitability for maize plants in Tilamuta District, Boalemo Regency, is in the marginal suitability class (S3) and is spread across all land units. This condition is influenced by several main limiting factors, namely low nutrient availability, rainfall, soil nutrient retention capacity, slope gradient, and erosion hazard levels. However, for potential land suitability, the application of various improvement efforts such as fertilization, liming, adding organic materials, implementing a planting system that follows the contour, and intensive terracing can increase the land suitability class to fairly suitable (S2).

Abstract

Forage availability in Bongomeme Village is relatively abundant, particularly local legumes. However, their utilization as preserved feed remains limited. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of beef cattle farmers in utilizing legumes through the application of complete feed silage technology. The implementation consisted of socialization, technical training, field practice, and evaluation stages. A total of 30 farmers participated actively in all phases of the program. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of legume nutritional value and silage production techniques. Farmers successfully produced high-quality silage using locally available materials, and several have begun to adopt the technology independently. High enthusiasm and strong institutional support at the local level further strengthened the potential for program sustainability. This initiative demonstrates that the transfer of legume-based silage technology offers a practical and context-appropriate solution to sustainably improve beef cattle fattening productivity among small-scale farmers. Abstract

Acid soils with low pH are a major constraint for tomato cultivation in Indonesia, including in Kwandang District, North Gorontalo Regency, which has a soil pH of 5.23. This study aimed to determine the growth response of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) to liming and fertilizer types on acid soils. The research was conducted in Molingkapoto Village, Kwandang District, North Gorontalo Regency, for four months (November 2025–February 2026). A Factorial Randomized Block Design was employed with two factors: agricultural lime dosage (K0 = no lime; K1 = 1,000 g/plot; K2 = 1,300 g/plot) and fertilizer type and dosage (P0 = no fertilizer; P1 = organic fertilizer 7,000 g/plot; P2 = NPK fertilizer 8 g/plant), replicated three times for 27 experimental units. Parameters observed included plant height, leaf number, leaf color score, and leaf area index at 14, 30, and 44 days after planting (DAP). Results showed that liming at 1,300 g/plot (K2) and NPK fertilizer at 8 g/plant (P2), both independently and in combination (K2P2), produced the best growth across all parameters at 44 DAP: plant height, leaf number, leaf color score, and leaf area index. Liming improved soil pH and increased macro and micronutrient availability, while NPK fertilizer provided essential nutrients rapidly available to the plant.
