Abstract

Competition in the quality of education has become a driving force for educational institutions to enhance their quality in order to compete in society. Just like what has been done by Fastabiqul Khairat Elementary School in Samarinda, they have been focusing on improving the management of educational quality. Therefore, this research aims to examine the improvement of educational quality carried out by Fastabiqul Khairat Elementary School in Samarinda. The research method used in this study is qualitative with a case study approach. Data sources were obtained from observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used was interactive, which involved data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that Fastabiqul Khairat Elementary School in Samarinda has improved its educational quality through the implementation of the Total Quality Management (TQM) approach. The school's approach to improving educational quality differs from other Islamic-oriented schools. This can be seen in its strategic management, which involves organizing programs and establishing professional relationships with external parties. Continuous improvement is also prioritized, such as emphasizing the professionalism of educators in their respective fields. Language instruction, for example, is conducted by specialized instructors, and teachers are equipped to enhance their professionalism both at the local and international levels. The school also collaborates with the Cambridge curriculum to enhance the quality of learning. Adequate facilities and infrastructure are provided to support students' mastery of both soft and hard skills. The school values input from students and parents, actively seeking and incorporating their suggestions. Based on these factors, the management practices implemented by Fastabiqul Khairat Elementary School in Samarinda can serve as a model for other schools aiming to enhance the quality of education through Total Quality Management approaches.

Abstract

Artikel ini nejelaskan tentang hasil sebuah penelitian kualitatif yang mendiskusikan: 1) perencanaan Problem Based Learning berbantuan sway melalui Whatsapp Group, 2) proses pelaksanaan Problem Based Learning berbantuan Sway melalui Whatsapp Group, 3) Evaluasi pelaksanaan Problem Based Learning berbantuan sway melalui Whatsapp Group. Penelitian ini merujuk kepada metode penelitian kualitatif diskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data divalidasi melalui teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) perencanaan pembelajaran dengan Problem Based Learning berbantuan Sway diawali dengan menginformasikan pembelajaran menggunakan Sway dan membuat Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) yang memuat langkah-langkah Problem-Based Learning yang disampaikan melalui Whatsapp Group 2) Proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran dilakukan sesuai langkah-langkah Problem Based Learning dan Sway yang disampaikan melalui Whatsapp Group sehingga pembelajaran lebih interaktif dan mandiri 3) evaluasi pelaksanaan Problem Based Learning berbantuan Sway melalui Whatsapp Group tak lepas dari kendala-kendala dalam pembelajaran, misalnya masalah jaringan internet dan kuota yang terbatas. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi model alternatif dalam pembelajaran online. Namun, guru harus memberikan perhatian pula pada permasalahan yang dapat timbul saat menerapkan model ini dalam mengajar.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to optimize the school's greenhouse as a digital Living Laboratory based on QR Code technology at SMP Negeri 10 Salatiga. The effort was motivated by a significant gap between the ideal potential of the greenhouse as a living laboratory for Science education and its current condition, which is poorly maintained, lacks plant identification, and is dominated by conventional teaching methods. The service focused on the problem of transforming the physical asset of the greenhouse into an interactive digital learning resource. The implementation method employed was Action-based Implementation, structured into four main stages: needs analysis, development of QR Code-based digital content, physical revitalization of the greenhouse, and installation of the QR Code system. The implementation results show successful physical transformation, marked by a clean and structured greenhouse environment (98.0% of students agree), and successful implementation of the digital system with the installation of 35 big data-integrated QR Codes. The main conclusion indicates that this innovation received very positive acceptance from students (an average of over 85%), particularly in the aspects of information access convenience (96.7%) and increased motivation in learning Science (90.0%). Thus, the integration of QR Code technology proves effective as an innovative solution for providing contextual and responsive Science learning media. Future development prospects can focus on the integration of gamification and the development of an integrated monitoring system for the evaluation of students' self-directed learning. ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan greenhouse sebagai Laboratorium Hidup digital berbasis QR Code di SMP Negeri 10 Salatiga dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesenjangan potensi ideal greenhouse sebagai laboratorium hidup dalam pembelajaran IPA dan kondisi yang kurang terawat, minim identitas, serta didominasi oleh metode pengajaran konvensional. Dalam pengabdian berfokus pada masalah mengubah aset fisik greenhouse menjadi sumber belajar digital interaktif. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah Pengembangan dan Implementasi Berbasis Aksi (Action-based Implementation) melalui empat tahapan utama: analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan konten digital berbasis QR Code, Revitalisasi fisik greenhouse, dan instalasi sistem QR Code. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan keberhasilan transformasi fisik, yang ditandai dengan lingkungan greenhouse yang bersih dan terstruktur (98,0% siswa setuju), serta keberhasilan implementasi sistem digital dengan pemasangan 35 QR Code terintegrasi big data. Simpulan utama menunjukkan bahwa inovasi ini memiliki penerimaan yang sangat positif dari siswa (rata-rata di atas 85%), terutama dalam aspek kemudahan akses informasi (96,7%) dan peningkatan motivasi belajar IPA (90,0%). Dengan demikian, integrasi teknologi QR Code terbukti efektif sebagai solusi inovatif untuk menyediakan media pembelajaran IPA yang kontekstual, dan responsif. Prospek pengembangan ke depan dapat difokuskan pada integrasi gamifikasi dan pengembangan sistem monitoring terpadu untuk evaluasi belajar mandiri siswa.

Abstract

Student discipline in responding to the playing of the Indonesian national anthem is an important part character of nationalism and respect for national symbols in the school environment. However, in practice, there are still variations in student responses, ranging from punctuality in standing, awareness of following the rules, to respectful behavior while the song is playing. This study aims to analyze the discipline of students at SMP 10 Salatiga in responding to the playing of the Indonesia Raya every day at 10:00 a.m. and to identify the factors that influence this behavior. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data was obtained from teachers, students, and school officials directly involved in the implementation of this discipline program. The results showed that most students demonstrated disciplined behavior, such as stopping their activities, standing at attention, and following the teacher's instructions, in line with the finding that routine school activities can strengthen moral character and discipline. However, several obstacles were found, such as a lack of supervision at certain points, a low understanding of the meaning of the activities, and differences in individual awareness. In conclusion, student discipline is influenced by the consistency of school rules, teacher role models, and student understanding of the value of nationalism. Strengthening socialization and routine monitoring are necessary to maintain the sustainability of a culture of discipline in schools. ABSTRAK Kedisiplinan siswa dalam menyikapi pemutaran Lagu Indonesia Raya merupakan bagian penting dari pembentukan karakter nasionalisme dan penghargaan terhadap simbol negara di lingkungan sekolah. Namun, dalam praktiknya masih ditemukan variasi respons siswa, mulai dari ketepatan waktu berdiri, kesadaran mengikuti aturan, hingga sikap menghormati selama lagu diputar. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk kedisiplinan siswa SMP 10 Salatiga dalam merespons pemutaran Lagu Indonesia Raya setiap pukul 10.00 WIB serta mengidentifikasi faktor yang memengaruhi perilaku tersebut. Pengabdian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data diperoleh dari guru, siswa, dan pihak sekolah yang terlibat langsung dalam pelaksanaan program kedisiplinan ini. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa telah menunjukkan sikap disiplin seperti berhenti beraktivitas, berdiri tegap, dan mengikuti instruksi guru, sejalan dengan temuan bahwa kegiatan rutin sekolah dapat memperkuat karakter moral dan kedisiplinan. Namun, beberapa kendala ditemukan, seperti kurangnya pengawasan di titik tertentu, rendahnya pemahaman tentang makna kegiatan, serta perbedaan kesadaran individu. Kesimpulannya, kedisiplinan siswa dipengaruhi oleh konsistensi aturan sekolah, keteladanan guru, dan pemahaman siswa terhadap nilai nasionalisme. Penguatan sosialisasi dan monitoring rutin diperlukan untuk menjaga keberlanjutan budaya disiplin di sekolah.

Abstract

Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) are increasingly used to improve language learning. Many games have been created as products to help players improve their learning abilities. This research explores the execution of the MMORPGs to improve their vocabulary. The information was gathered through observation, documentation, and interview. There are seven chosen experienced players of MMORPG in worldwide servers who meet the requirements. Results demonstrated that implementing MMORPG can assist the EFL learners with acquiring new vocabulary from the aspect of the game like socializing, guild, mission, storyline, trading market, and things depiction assist the EFL learners with learning new vocabulary. The results of the study were expected to help the EFL learner gamer learn English, especially vocabulary, since the game has many aspects that help the EFL learners who play this game to enrich their vocabulary.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services in improving the ability of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Salatiga to choose further education schools. The background of this study was based on the low ability of some students to make independent and rational decisions regarding further school selection, as indicated by their tendency to follow peers’ choices or external influences without considering their interests, talents, and personal potential. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of an experimental group and a control group selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires on students’ ability to choose further education schools, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test and N-Gain analysis to determine the effectiveness of the service. The results showed that group guidance services were effective in improving students’ ability to select further education schools. This was evidenced by a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the posttest results, as well as a higher N-Gain score in the experimental group. Group guidance services helped students improve their understanding of information related to further education schools, identify their interests and personal potential, and develop more rational educational decision-making skills. The effectiveness of the service was influenced by group dynamics, peer discussions, and self-exploration processes that developed through interactions among group members. Therefore, group guidance services can serve as an effective strategy to help junior high school students make independent, well-directed, and appropriate decisions regarding further education choices based on their interests and potential.

Abstract

Writing remains one of the most challenging language skills for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This study aims to explore the impact of combining the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) with Canva-based educational media on students' descriptive writing skills at various levels of learning motivation. Using a quantitative method with a 2 × 2 factorial quasi-experimental framework, this study included 30 eighth-grade students from SMPIT Al Falah Simo during the 2025/2026 academic year. The experimental treatment group (n=11) was taught using GBA integrated with Canva, while the control group (n=19) underwent traditional teaching methods. Data were collected through pre- and post-study writing assessments, along with a 17-item learning motivation survey, and analysed using Two-Way ANOVA. The results showed that the teaching strategy did not significantly affect independent writing skills (Sig. = 0.371 > 0.05). On the other hand, learning motivation had a significant impact on writing outcomes (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Importantly, a significant interaction effect was identified between learning strategies and learning motivation levels (Sig. = 0.045 < 0.05). This indicates that GBA combined with Canva significantly improves descriptive writing skills, especially when addressed to highly motivated students.
