Abstract

Piperine, classified as a Class II substance in the Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS), has poor solubility in water but high permeability. This research aims to improve the solubility and dissolution rate of piperine by adsorbing a multicomponent crystal (MCC) of piperine-nicotinamide onto mesoporous silica SBA-15. Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) was used as a silica precursor and Pluronic P123 as a pore-formation template to create SBA-15. Adsorption of the MCC was carried out by solvent evaporation with MCC:SBA-15 mass ratio (1:1). Solid state characterization was carried out by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Solubility tests were carried out for 24 hours and the dissolution rate profile was conducted for 60 minutes in distilled water. Dissolved piperine was determined using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with methanol and distilled water as the mobile phase (75:25). The physical stability of MCC:SBA-15 was evaluated at various high relative humidities. The solid-state characterization results showed successful adsorption of the MCC in SBA-15 with a decrease in surface area, pore volume, and intensity of the X-ray diffraction peaks. The FT-IR spectrum of MCC:SBA-15 resembled that of SBA-15. The solubility test results showed 2.47-fold and 3.07-fold increases in solubility and dissolution rate compared to pure piperine, respectively. MCC:SBA-15 demonstrated high stability at 75% and 85% RH at 40◦C. In conclusion, adsorption of the MCC piperine-nicotinamide crystal in mesoporous silica SBA-15 can enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of piperine.

Abstract

In the digital era, characterized by rapid and unpredictable changes, adaptive leadership has become crucial for organizational sustainability. This study aims to examine the importance of adaptive leadership in facing business dynamics, the key characteristics required of adaptive leaders, implementation strategies, and the challenges involved. A descriptive qualitative method was used through a literature review approach. The results indicate that adaptive leaders must possess a clear vision, flexibility, strong communication skills, and the courage to make decisions amid uncertainty. Key strategies include training programs, encouraging innovation, and fostering team involvement. The main challenges are resistance to change and limited resources. In conclusion, adaptive leadership is not only a competitive advantage but also a necessity in addressing the challenges of the digital business landscape.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a viral infectious disease that has become a global health problem with a significant increase in cases, especially in Indonesia. In 2024, there were more than 14.6 million cases of DHF worldwide, with around 12,000 deaths. In Indonesia alone, throughout 2025, there were around 80,000 cases and hundreds of deaths, especially in coastal areas such as Gambus Laut Village, Batu Bara Regency, which has a high risk due to suboptimal environmental and hygiene conditions. Although the level of public knowledge about DBD is relatively good, it is not always followed by effective preventive behavior, so cases still occur. Therefore, appropriate education and intervention are crucial to improve knowledge and encourage preventive behavioral changes. This study used a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling of 30 respondents to describe public knowledge and behavior related to dengue prevention and measure the effectiveness of education through pretest-posttest questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after education, with the average score rising from 14.5 to 16.5 and a p-value of 0.001. These findings indicate that socialization and poster media are effective in increasing knowledge and are expected to encourage better preventive behavior to reduce the number of DHF cases in the community.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the absence of a father's role in childcare (fatherless) is a social issue that is increasingly emerging in Indonesia and greatly affects adolescent development, especially in emotional, social, and behavioral aspects. This article aims to examine the influence of fatherlessness on adolescent development and analyze it through the perspective of Eric Berne's transactional analysis counseling. This research employs a library research method on relevant scientific articles from 2020 to 2025 indexed in Google Scholar. The findings indicate that adolescents experiencing fatherlessness tend to face emotional problems (anxiety, loneliness), low self-control, difficulties in social adjustment, and an increased risk of problematic behaviors such as juvenile delinquency. From a transactional analysis perspective, this condition is understood as an imbalance of ego states: a weak nurturing parent, a dominant and impulsive child, and an underdeveloped adult for decision-making. The transactional analysis counseling approach is seen as relevant to help adolescents experiencing fatherlessness increase self-awareness, strengthen the adult ego state, and build healthier interpersonal relationship patterns. It is hoped that these findings can serve as a conceptual basis for school counselors and educators in designing more targeted counseling services
