Abstract

Rendahnya budaya literasi di kalangan mahasiswa, khususnya di lingkungan pesantren, menjadi tantangan serius dalam membangun tradisi ilmiah yang berkelanjutan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat budaya literasi melalui workshop penulisan esai yang diselenggarakan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Literasi BEM UII Dalwa. Workshop dirancang menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), capacity building, dan reflective-experiential learning, serta dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan inti, dan evaluasi hasil. Sebanyak 40 mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi mengikuti kegiatan ini, yang mencakup motivasi literasi, teknik menulis esai, dan latihan menulis. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui lembar refleksi, observasi partisipatif, pengumpulan karya esai, dan wawancara. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 82,5% peserta mengalami peningkatan minat menulis, 77,5% aktif dalam diskusi literasi, dan 30% menghasilkan esai yang layak publikasi. Kegiatan ini juga memicu terbentuknya inisiatif komunitas penulis internal dan kesadaran kolektif akan pentingnya artikulasi gagasan melalui tulisan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pelatihan yang terstruktur, partisipatif, dan kontekstual dapat membangun ekosistem literasi di lingkungan pesantren. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini menjadi model pengabdian yang dapat direplikasi dan dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk memperkuat budaya tulis di kalangan mahasiswa berbasis pesantren.

Abstract

The rapid changes in the era and the development of the modern world often result in an imbalance in prioritizing the types of fardu kifayah and fardu ‘ain knowledge. Many educational institutions prioritize the science of Fardu kifayah, often neglecting the Fardu ‘ain aspect. This study aims to explore Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the importance of balance between the science of Fardu ‘ain and Fardu kifayah in the context of Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study, which examines the works of Imam Al-Ghazali, especially those related to education and science. The results of the study show that Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the balance of Fardu ‘ain and Fardu kifayah knowledge are very relevant to the challenges of today's Islamic education. In a modern context, Islamic education needs to integrate these two types of knowledge in order to produce a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also has a noble character and is responsible for building society. This study suggests that the current Islamic education curriculum integrates religious and worldly knowledge, strengthens character education, and utilizes technology as a means to achieve a balance of knowledge. Thus, Islamic education can form a generation that excels in the fields of science and morals and plays an active role in the development of the community and civilization.

Abstract

This article examines Abu Hamid al-Ghazali’s thought on the synthesis between reason (‘aql) and revelation (naql) as a conceptual foundation for religious moderation (wasathiyyah). In the intellectual history of Islam, the tension between philosophical rationalism and traditional textualism has produced a sharp epistemological polarization. Al-Ghazali offers a middle path by positioning reason as an instrument for understanding revelation rather than as an independent authority. Through his major works such as Tahāfut al-Falāsifah, Al-Iqtiṣād fī al-Iʿtiqād, and Iḥyā’ ʿUlūm al-Dīn, he formulates a hierarchical structure of knowledge beginning from sense perception, reason, revelation, to spiritual intuition (kashf) as an integration of rationality, morality, and spirituality. This study employs a library research approach with a descriptive-qualitative analysis of primary and secondary literature related to al-Ghazali’s epistemological framework. The findings reveal that religious moderation in al-Ghazali’s perspective is not a form of compromise but an epistemological and ethical balance between two extremes: rationalism without revelation and literalism without reflection. This synthesis gives rise to a paradigm of religiosity that is critical, contextual, and civilizational. In the contemporary context, al-Ghazali’s thought remains relevant in addressing the challenges of secularism, radicalism, and moral relativism, serving as a foundation for Islamic education and da’wah that foster critical reasoning, spirituality, and tolerance.

Abstract

The low level of scientific writing culture among students poses a serious challenge in academia, particularly in the digital era marked by rampant plagiarism and a declining motivation for critical thinking. To address this issue, the Islamic Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Internasional Darullughah Wadda’wah Bangil Pasuruan initiated a scientific article writing training aimed at equipping students with writing skills in accordance with methodological principles and national or international publication standards. The program was carried out in three main phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, using a combination of presentation, demonstration, and hands-on practice methods. The integration of supporting applications such as Zotero and Mendeley enhanced the technical aspects of writing. The results of the training indicated a significant improvement in students' understanding and skills in writing scientific articles, as well as an increased interest in publication. An intensive mentoring phase further facilitated the completion of publishable academic works, contributing positively to the institution’s academic reputation. This program has proven effective and should be replicated to foster a strong scientific culture within higher education institutions.

Abstract

Pendidikan Islam memiliki peran strategis dalam membentuk individu holistik di tengah tantangan pembelajaran abad ke-21 yang ditandai oleh perkembangan teknologi pesat, globalisasi, dan krisis moral. Penelitian ini mengkaji konsep pembentukan individu dalam pendidikan Islam dan implikasi praktisnya terhadap pembelajaran abad ke-21 melalui studi literatur sistematis, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif.Data dikumpulkan dari Al-Qur'an, Hadis, dan 65 sumber ilmiah (2015-2023) menggunakan analisis deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa konsep pembentukan individu dalam pendidikan Islam yang berlandaskan pada akidah, ibadah, akhlak, ilmu pengetahuan, dan keterampilan menghasilkan insan kamil yang seimbang secara spiritual, intelektual, moral, dan sosial. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi lima implikasi utama terhadap pembelajaran abad ke-21: integrasi nilai Islam dengan pengembangan keterampilan 4C, desain kurikulum berbasis karakter, strategi pembelajaran inovatif yang memadukan kearifan tradisional dengan teknologi digital, redefinisi peran pendidik sebagai fasilitator dan teladan digital, serta ekosistem pendidikan yang sinergis. Studi ini mengajukan framework implementasi dan mengidentifikasi tantangan termasuk dehumanisasi teknologi beserta strategi solusinya. Pendidikan Islam memberikan fondasi kokoh untuk menghasilkan individu adaptif, berkarakter mulia, dan mampu berkontribusi positif bagi masyarakat di era modern.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan memperkuat karakter Islami santri melalui kegiatan tausiyah pekanan di Pesantren Al Hikmah Darul Ulum, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Latar belakang kegiatan ini berangkat dari fenomena melemahnya penghargaan terhadap guru, ilmu, dan tradisi pesantren, yang berimplikasi pada berkurangnya kualitas pendidikan karakter Islami. Subjek pengabdian adalah 40 santri tingkat menengah dengan pendampingan 5 ustadz pembimbing. Metode pengabdian menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dengan melibatkan ustadz dan santri secara aktif dalam perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi lembar observasi perilaku santri, pedoman wawancara singkat, serta dokumentasi kegiatan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran santri mengenai pentingnya adab sebelum ilmu, yang tampak pada sikap hormat terhadap guru, meningkatnya disiplin belajar, dan interaksi sosial yang lebih positif. Program tausiyah juga memperkuat identitas pesantren sebagai pusat pembinaan moral-spiritual, meskipun masih terdapat keterbatasan berupa durasi program yang singkat dan metode ceramah yang relatif dominan. Dengan demikian, program tausiyah pekanan dapat menjadi model alternatif yang aplikatif dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter Islami di pesantren lintas negara.

Abstract

The use of digital media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has become increasingly significant in response to rapid technological developments, changing student characteristics, and the growing demand for interactive learning. This study aims to explore how digital media is implemented in PAI learning, its effects on students’ learning motivation, and the factors influencing its successful integration. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted in a secondary education institution. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation analysis of lesson plans and learning materials. Findings show that digital media—such as instructional videos, interactive multimedia, and online learning platforms—significantly enhance student engagement, participation, and motivation. Teachers’ creativity and digital competence, supported by adequate institutional resources and policies, are critical for effective media integration. The study concludes that digital media utilization not only enriches the PAI learning process but also improves learning outcomes, encourages independent and student-centered learning, and strengthens students’ understanding and internalization of Islamic values.

Abstract

Mental health challenges in educational contexts require culturally sensitive interventions that align with students’ worldviews and religious values. This library research examines the relationship between Islamic worldview and mental health strengthening within Islamic educational traditions. The study employed systematic literature review methodology, analyzing peer-reviewed articles from multiple databases including PubMed, PsycINFO, and Scopus, focusing on publications from 2018-2025. Thematic analysis identified key concepts regarding Islamic worldview’s role in promoting psychological wellbeing. Results reveal three main findings: First, Islamic worldview provides robust conceptual foundations for mental health through principles of balance (mīzān), trust in Allah (tawakkul), patience (sabr), and community support (ummah). Second, Islamic educational institutions implement comprehensive mechanisms including integrated spiritual-academic programs, mentorship systems, communal learning approaches, therapeutic practices, and supportive physical environments. Third, contemporary research demonstrates significant effectiveness of Islamic worldview-based approaches in addressing culture-specific mental health challenges, with evidence showing improved treatment adherence, enhanced coping abilities, and better psychological outcomes compared to conventional interventions. The study concludes that Islamic worldview offers valuable contributions to global mental health practice through holistic frameworks that integrate spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions, providing culturally authentic and therapeutically effective approaches for Muslim students in educational contexts.
