Abstract

Sebagai sekolah baru, SDU Permata Mulia menghadapi permasalahan mendesak berupa belum tersusunnya modul ajar berbasis Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Assistance of SDU Permata Mulia Malang Teachers in Developing Project-Based Learning-Based Teaching Modules Abstract As a new school, SDU Permata Mulia faces an urgent problem in the form of not having compiled a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based teaching module. PjBL is one of the advantages offered by the school to parents as part of branding and excellence efforts, however, the school needs assistance in its implementation. This community service activity aims to provide training and assistance in compiling PjBL-based teaching modules that are in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum for elementary school level. Community service is carried out at SDU Permata Mulia through an intensive training and mentoring approach. The training focuses on strengthening the basic concepts of PjBL, compiling teaching modules, and implementing them in the learning process. The results of the activity show that the training and mentoring have been carried out well, resulting in a number of important achievements, including increasing teachers' understanding of the PjBL concept and their ability to compile and implement PjBL-based teaching modules effectively. The conclusion of this activity is that the training and mentoring provided can help teachers compile comprehensive and relevant teaching modules, while improving the quality of the learning process at SDU Permata Mulia, although it cannot be said to be effective because this requires research/quasi-experiment. This program is expected to be the first step in creating an innovative and PjBL-based learning ecosystem, supporting the development of essential student skills in the 21st century.

Abstract

Collembola or springtails, as an important but often overlooked component of soil biota, it plays an important role in nutrient cycles and soil stability. This article aims to analyze Collembola's role in soil health and ecosystem services, the impact of agricultural practices on their communities, sensitivity to environmental changes, and management recommendations based on Scopus AI-indexed data. The method used is a systematic literature review utilizing natural language and keyword search features from Scopus AI to gather relevant literature. The results of the study show that Collembola significantly contributes to organic matter decomposition, soil quality improvement, and erosion control. Additionally, conservation tillage practices and organic amendments have been shown to enhance Collembola species diversity. In conclusion, Collembola plays a key role in sustainable soil conservation, but further research is needed to understand the impact of climate change and agricultural practices on their ecological functions. This study also offers recommendations for more effective management strategies to support soil sustainability.

Abstract

The increasing environmental challenges faced globally have highlighted the urgent need for an environmentally literate generation. Environmental literacy, encompassing cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects, is essential for fostering awareness and concern for the environment among young people. As such, understanding the level of environmental literacy in students is crucial to effectively address these challenges. This study aims to determine the environmental literacy skills of high school students in Batu City based on gender and school accreditation. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 1,054 students from six high schools, including three public schools and three private schools. The instrument used was a validated Environmental Literacy Instrument for Students (ELIS) based on a questionnaire. The results indicated that, in general, students' environmental literacy skills were in the high category, with an average percentage of 78-80% across all dimensions. The Independent sampel t-test revealed a significant difference in environmental literacy skills based on gender, with female students demonstrating higher concern for the environment compared to male students. Additionally, a significant difference was found between schools with A and B accreditation, with A-accredited schools showing higher results. This study recommends emphasizing the importance of experiential learning, as well as considering gender and accreditation factors in the development of environmental literacy programs.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the evolution of botanical literacy research over the last decade, based on 32 Scopus-indexed studies. Nine research questions (RQs) explore publication trends, geographical distribution, subject areas, funding sponsors, co-occurring keywords, influencing factors, effective strategies, and emerging themes. Data collection followed the PRISMA protocol, with bibliometric analysis and VOSviewer used to explore trends, while Scopus AI facilitated thematic and content analysis. The analysis identified a sevenfold increase in publication volume from 2017 to 2024, with notable peaks in 2022 (n=7) and 2024 (n=7). These findings reflect a growing academic recognition of the crucial role plants play in tackling global environmental challenges. The United States and the United Kingdom lead in research, while Asian countries such as Indonesia remain underrepresented (less than 5% of total publications), highlighting the need for a more inclusive, global approach. The study also reveals the interdisciplinary nature of botanical literacy, encompassing environmental sciences, agriculture, social sciences, and fields like computer science and psychology. Key factors influencing botanical literacy include lack of interest, poor educational materials, and ineffective teaching methods. Effective strategies identified include inquiry-based learning and integrating botanical education into daily life. Emerging themes emphasize “Scientific Literacy in Environmental Contexts” as a recurring focus, reinforcing the relevance of botanical literacy in environmental education.
