Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis dan sumber kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa-siswi untuk Tour dan Travel-Sun Lingua College (SLC) Singaraja pada Tahun Akademik 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Ini menggunakan purposive sampling dan subjeknya terdiri dari 24 siswa dan 1 guru tour dan travel. Data dikumpulkan melalui rekaman, penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Surface Strategy Taxonomy oleh Dulay, Burt dan Krashen (1982). Ini tentang mengidentifikasi kesalahan, mengklasifikasikan kesalahan, menghitung kesalahan, menganalisis kuesioner dan hasil wawancara, melaporkan hasil analisis dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis kesalahan: kelalaian, penambahan, misformasi dan salah urut, yang dilakukan oleh siswa-siswi. Jumlah kesalahan total adalah 520 yang terdiri dari 43,9% kesalahan kelalaian, 30,8% kesalahan misformasi, 18,9% sebagai penambahan kesalahan, dan 6,6% kesalahan salah urut. Penelitian tersebut menemukan bahwa sumber kesalahan adalah kesalahan antarbahasa serta kesalahan intrabahasa.Kata Kunci : tata bahasa, kesalahan-kesalahan, kesalahan antarbahasa, kesalahan intrabahasa This study aimed at analyzing the types and sources of errors committed by the students of Tour and Travel–Sun Lingua College (SLC) Singaraja in Academic Year of 2017/2018. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. It applied purposive sampling and the subjects of which consisted of 24 students and 1 tour and travel teacher. The data were collected through recording, distributing questionnaire and interview and analyzed by using Surface Strategy Taxonomy by Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982). It was about identifying the errors, classifying the errors, calculating the errors, analyzing the questionnaire and the result of the interview, reporting the result of the analysis and drawing the conclusion. The results of the study show that there were four types of errors: omission, addition, misformation and misordering, committed by the students. The total numbers of errors were 520 which consisted of 43.9% in omission errors, 30.8% in misformation errors, 18.9% in addition errors, and 6.6% in misordering errors. The study found that the sources of errors were interlingual error as well as intralingual error.keyword : grammar, errors, interlingual error, intralingual error

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif qualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jumlah prefik di Dialek Pedawa dan jenisnya dari infleksi dan derivasi. Dua sampel informan dari Dialek Pedawa dipilih berdasarkan seperangkat kriteria. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan 3 tehnik, yakni: tehnik observasi, merekam, dan wawancara (mencatat dan mendengarkan). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada dua jenis prefik di Dialek Pedawa. Prefik tersebut yakni prefik {N-}, {m∂-}. Jenis prefik yang tergolong derivasi adalah prefik {m∂-}, {ŋə-} and {ŋ-}. Jenis prefik infleksi adalah prefik {ŋ-}, {n-}, {ñ-} and {m∂-}.Kata Kunci : prefiks derivasi, prefiks infleksi, dan Dialek Pedawa This descriptive qualitative research aimed at describing the number of prefixes in Pedawa Dialect and its types of inflectional and derivational morphemes. This study aimed at exploring the phonological and lexical variation viewed from age differences which occurred in Lemukih and Galungan village. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. There were 10 informant samples from both Lemukih and Galunganvillage were chosen based on predetermined criteria. The data were collected based on researcher as the main instrument and four other additional instruments namely: observation, interview, word list and recording. Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategy mengajar dan peran guru dalam proses belajar mengajar yang digunakan di Sekolah CIS Bali. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa di kelas 2A sekolah dasar di sekolah CIS Bali tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, dokumentasi, wawancara, dan kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Terdapat empat alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diantaranya lembaran observasi, pedoman wawancara, catatan kecil dan handy cam. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua teori sebagai dasar dalam menganalisis data diantaranya teori strategi mengajar menurut Petrina (2007) dan teori tentang peran guru menurut Harmer (2007). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah berbagai strategi mengajar dalam bentuk metode yg bervariasi telah diterapkan di sekolah CIS Bali kecuali strategi mengajar “indrirect instruction”. Diantara peran-peran guru yang digunakan, hanya satu peran guru yang tidak diterapkan di sekolah CIS Bali yaitu peran guru sebagai seorang “Tutor”. Strategi yang paling sering digunakan adalah strategi “direct instruction” dalam bentuk metode “didactic question” (64,45% dan diaplikasikan sebanyak 29 kali) dan strategi yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah strategi “independent study” (100 % dan diaplikasikan sebanyak 1 kali. Terkait dengan peran guru, peran yang paling sering digunakan adalah peran guru sebagai “organizer” (52,85% dan diaplikasikan sebanyak 158 kali) dan peran guru yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah peran guru sebagai “assessort” (5,35% dan diaplikasikan sebanyak 16 kali). Dengan mengkombinasikan strategi mengajar dan peran guru dalam proses belajar mengajar, guru di kelas 2A sekolah dasar di sekolah CIS Bali mampu mengelola kelas dengan baik, hal itu terlihat dari keefektifan dari proses belajar mengajar yg dilakukan oleh guru di dalam kelas. Kata Kunci : Manajemen Kelas, Strategi Mengajar, Peran Guru ABSTRACT The purpose of this study were to describe instructional strategies and teacher’s roles in teaching and learning process which were frequently used in CIS School Bali. The subject of the study were the teacher and the students at second grade (A class) elementary of CIS School Bali in the academic year 2015/2016. The data was collected through observations, documentation, and interview and then analyzed descriptively. There were four instruments which used in this study such as, observation sheets, interview guide, field notes, and handy cam in which triangulation was used for the trustworthiness of this research. There were two theories used in this study as the basis of analyzing the data, instructional Strategies proposed by Petrina (2007) and teacher’s roles stated by Harmer (2007). The results of the study were various instructional strategies were implemented in CIS School Bali in the form of various instructional methods except one instructional strategy namely: indirect instruction strategy. Among various teacher’s roles which were used only teacher’s role as a tutor which was not implemented in CIS School Bali. The most used instructional strategy was direct instruction in the form of didactic question method (64,45% and applied 29 times) and the least frequently used was independent study (100% and applied 1 time). Related to the teacher’s roles, the most role was implemented was teacher’s role as an organizer (52,85% and applied 158 times) and the least implemented was teacher’s role as assessor (5,35% and applied 16 times). Finally, by combining instructional strategies and teacher’s roles in teaching and learning process, the teacher at second grade (A class) of elementary students in CIS School Bali was able to manage the class well which could be seen from the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process which done by the teacher in the classroom. keyword : Key words: Classroom Management, Instructional Strategies, Teacher’s Roles

Abstract

This qualitative research describes Phonological system of Balinese language. The aim of this study was 1) To find out the vowel phonemes of Balinese language in Pedawa Dialect and their distribution, 2) To find out the diphthong Balinese language used in Pedawa dialect, 3) To find out the consonant phonemes of Balinese language in Pedawa dialect and their distribution, 4) To find out the consonant clusters that are used in Pedawa dialect. The main instrument was the researcher, and the researcher also used the other instruments namely, recorder and a word list. The data were gathered by conducting observation, recording and interview techniques. The result of this research can be describe that (1) there were 28 phonemes of Balinese language in Pedawa dialect. Those phoneme were /ʌ/, /i/, /u/, /e/, /o/, /ǝ//p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /ʔ/, /s/, /c/, /j/, /l/, /h/, /m/, /n/, /ñ/, /ŋ/, /r/, /w/, /y/ /ʌi/, /ʌe/, /ʌɛ/ that consist of 6 vowels, 3 diphthongs and 19 consonants. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah teknik Word Mixing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari tiga sesi di setiap siklusnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua jenis data (data kualitatif dan quantitatif) yang dikumpulkan melalui tes dan buku harian peneliti. Hasil tes menunjukan bahwa kemampuan penguasaan kosakata siswa meningkat di setiap siklusnya. Nilai rata-rata siswa di pre-test ialah 65.30, 71.79 di posttest 1, lalu meningkat menjadi 81.13 di posttest 2. Peningkatan tersebut juga dapat dilihat melalui jumlah siswa yang lulus: 4 siswa di pretest, 18 siswa di posttest 1, dan 36 siswa di post test 2. Hasil dari buku harian peneliti menunjukan bahwa siswa memberikan tanggapan yang sangat positif terhadap pengimplementasian strategi Mind Mapping dan Star Chart. Berdasarkan hasil tes dan buku harian peneliti, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan penguasaan siswa kelas VIIC dapat ditingkatkan melalui pengimplementasian teknik Word Mixing.Kata Kunci : Teknik Word Mixing, Kemampuan Penguasaan Kosakata This study was a classroom based action research which aimed to find out whether Word Mixing technique can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. This study was conducted in two cycles consisting of three sessions in each cycle. There were two kinds of data (qualitative and quantitative data) which were collected through tests and writer’s diary. The result of the tests showed that the students’ vocabulary mastery was improved in each cycle. The students’ mean score was 65.30 in pre test, 71.79 in post test 1, and improved became 81.13 in post test 2. It can be also seen on the number of students passing the test. There were 4 students passed in the pre test, 18 students in the post test 1, and 36 students in the post test 2. The result of writer’s diary also showed that the students gave positive response toward the implementation of Word Mixing Technique. Based on the results of the tests and the writer’s diary, it can be concluded that vocabulary mastery of VIIC students successfully improved by the implementation of Word Mixing technique. keyword : Word Mixing Technique, Vocabulary Mastery

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbandingan gegar budaya yang dialami turis Belanda dan turis Denmark selama tinggal di Singaraja. Penelitian ini menganalisis gegar budaya terkait dengan komunikasi lisan dan tidak lisan. Data dianalisis berdasarkan teori dari Pederson (1995). Penelitian ini mengacu pada peneilitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga turis Belanda dan tiga turis Denmark. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan teknik wawancara terstruktur dan tidak terstruktur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam komunikasi lisan, ada lima persamaan gegar budaya dialami turis Belanda dan Denmark yaitu menyapa, perkenalan, pertanyaan pribadi, merekomendasikan, dan membuat janji. Dalam komunikasi tidak langsung yaitu tersenyum, kontak mata, interaksi sentuhan, jarak, bersendawa, dan gerak-gerik kepala. Perbedaan keduanya adalah turis Belanda mengalami enam gegar budaya, diantaranya mengingatkan, berterima kasih, menawarkan, meminta maaf, mengundang, dan bersiul. Sementara turis Denmark mengalami lima gegar budaya dalam menyarankan, menghakimi, melarang, menolak, dan memotong pembicaraan. Dalam komunikasi tidak lisan, turis Belanda mengalami lima gegar budaya, diantaranya dengan dua tangan menyapa, menggeretakkan jari tangan, tersenyum, makan dengan tangan, dan mengedipkan mata. Sedangkan, turis Denmark mengalami tujuh gegar budaya, yaitu melambai, penguatan, bersalaman, mencangkupkan tangan, memeluk, dan penggunaan tangan kiri kanan. Untuk mengatasi gegar budaya, mereka menayakan informasi kepada pemandu atau orang local, meniru, dan menyesuaikan diri sesuai aturan yang ada di Bali. Masalah dari turis Belanda dan Denmark adalah meniru budaya baru. Kata Kunci : gegar budaya, komunikasi lisan, komunikasi tidak lisan This descriptive qualitative study aimed at analyzing the comparison of culture shock experienced by Dutch and Danish tourists during staying in Singaraja. This study analyzed the culture shock which is related to verbal and non-verbal communications. The data were analyzed based on Pederson’s theory (1995). The subjects of this study were three Dutch and Danish tourists. The data were collected based on semi structure and unstructured interview. The result of this study shows that in verbal communication, there are five similarities of culture shock experienced by Dutch and Danish tourists, namely: greeting, introducing, asking personally, recommending, and making appointment. In non-verbal communication, there are five similarities of culture shock phenomena, namely: smiling, eye contact, touch interaction, space, belch, and head movement. However, Dutch tourists experienced six culture shock, namely: reminding, thanking, offering, apologizing, inviting, and whistling, while Danish tourists experienced five culture shock, namely: suggesting, judging, prohibiting, refusing, and interrupting. In non-verbal communication, Dutch tourists experienced five culture shock, namely: two hands greeting, snapping fingers, smiling, use hand in eating, and winking. Danish tourists experienced seven culture shock, namely: waving hands, thumb reinforcement, smiling, shaking hand, covering hands, hugging, and the right and left hand. To overcome the culture shock phenomena, they conducted something as follows: asking information to their tour guide or local people, imitating the local people’s habits, and organizing themselves based on the rule in Bali. Abstract

Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menganalisa karakteristik dan faktor yang menyebabkan Bahasa Inggris Pidgin yang digunakan oleh para pedagang di pantai Tulamben. Subyek penelitian ini adalah tujuh pedagang berusia antara 35-45 tahun. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa peneliti sendiri, alat perekam, lemba robservasi, dan daftar wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisa berdasarkan langkah-langkahan alisa yang diajukan oleh Gale, dkk (2013). Analisa karakteristik Bahasa Pidgin di dasarkan pada teoriIsa, Halilu, & Ahmed (2015) dan Holmes (1992). Sedangkan analisa factor penyebab Bahasa Pidgin didasarkan pada teori Richard dan Schmidt (2002 dalam Setiyono, 2012). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Bahasa Inggris Pidgin di pantai Tulamben sudah memenuhi criteria untuk bias diangap sebagai Bahasa Pidgin dengan mempertimbangkan fungsi bahasa, struktur bahasa dan ucapan yang digunakan. Sedangkan factor penyebabnya di identifikasi ada tiga faktor, yaitu factor bahasa, ekonomi dan pendidikan. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut maka disarankan kepada Pemda Karangasem untuk menyediakan pendidikan informal kepada para pedagang tersebut untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mereka menjadi Bahasa Inggris standar. Kata Kunci : pantai Tulamben, pidgin This study was a descriptive qualitative study aimed at analysing the characteristics and factors creating Pidgin English used by sellers in Tulamben Beach. There are seven sellers aged 35 – 45 years old as the subjects of this study. The instruments of this study were the researcher, recorder, observation sheet, and interview guide. The collected data were analyzed based on the steps of data analysis proposed by Gale, et al (2013). The analysis of characteristics of Pidgin is based on the theory proposed by Isa, Halilu, & Ahmed (2015) and Holmes (1992). Meanwhile, the analysis of factors creating Pidgin is based on theory proposed by Richard and Schmidt (2002, in Setiyono, 2012). This study found that Pidgin in Tulamben Beach has fulfilled the criteria of being pidgin which were considered from its language function, structure and pronunciation. There were three factors creating Pidgin in Tulamben, namely language, economic, and educational factors. Related to these findings, it is suggested that the government of Karangasem Regency should provide the sellers informal education in order to improve their English to be Standard English. keyword : pidgin, Tulamben beach

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui apakah strategi Mind Mapping yang diintegrasikan dengan Star Chart dapat meningkatkan prestasi menulis siswa, (2) mengetahui tanggapan siswa mengenai pengimplementasian strategi tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari tiga sesi di setiap siklusnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua jenis data (data kualitatif dan quantitatif) yang dikumpulkan melalui tes, kuisioner, dan buku harian peneliti Hasil tes menunjukan bahwa prestasi siswa meningkat di setiap siklusnya. Nilai rata-rata siswa di pre-test ialah 63.75, 69.79 di posttest 1, lalu meningkat menjadi 80.11 di posttest 2. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat melalui jumlah siswa yang lulus: 3 siswa di pretest, 12 siswa di posttest 1, dan 25 siswa di post test 2. Hasil dari kuisioner dan buku harian peneliti menunjukan bahwa siswa memberikan tanggapan yang sangat positif terhadap pengimplementasian strategi Mind Mapping dan Star Chart.Kata Kunci : Strategi Mind Mapping, Star Chart, Prestasi Menulis, Teks Recount This study was a classroom based action research which aimed to (1) find out whether Mind Mapping strategy which is integrated with Star Chart can improve students’ writing achievement, (2) find out the response of the students toward the implementation of the strategies. This study was conducted in two cycles consisting of three sessions in each cycle. There were two kinds of data (qualitative and quantitative data) which were collected through tests, questionnaires, and writer’s diary. The result of the tests showed that the students’ writing achievement was improved in each cycle. The students’ mean score was 63.75 in pre test, 69.79 in post test 1, and improved became 80.11 in post test 2. It can be seen on the number of students passing the test. There were 3 students passed in the pre test, 12 students in the post test 1, and 25 students in the post test 2. The result of questionnaire and writer’s dairy showed that the students gave positive response toward the implementation of Mind Mapping strategy and Star Chart. The results of the questionnaires showed that 25 (89.29%) of the students admitted that they really like the implementation of Mind Mapping strategy and Star Chat. Moreover, 27 (96.43%) of the students admitted that they were motivated in learning English using Mind mapping strategy and Star Chart.keyword : Mind Mapping Strategy, Star Chart, Writing Achievement, Recount Text

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meneliti jenis-jenis kesalahan tata bahasa oleh siswa kelas XD di SMA N 1 Selemadeg dalam menulis paragraf deskriptif dan untuk mengetahui penyebab dari kesalahan tata bahasa tersebut. Semua data yang termasuk kesalahan tata bahasa dianalisis menggunakan berbentuk deskriptif kualitative. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA N 1 Selemadeg. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XD yang terdiri dari 29 siswa. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti mengumpulkan tulisan deskriptif siswa, mengidentifikasi kesalahan, mengklasifikasikan kesalahan, menghitung dan membuat frekuensi, menginterpretasikan hal yang ingin disampaikan siswa dan membuat kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 30,2% kesalahan omission, 5,5% kesalahan addition, 60,9% kesalahan misformation dan 3,4% kesalahan misordering. Kesalahan yang paling banyak dibuat siswa adalah dalam misformation dan yang paling rendah adalah misformation. Hasil dari penelitian ini juga menunjukan penyebab kesalahan tata bahasa disebabkan oleh kesalahan interlingual dan kesalahan intralingual.Kata Kunci : kesalahan tata bahasa, menulis, teks deskriptif The purposes of this research were to investigate kinds of grammatical errors made by XD students at SMA Negeri 1 Selemadeg in writing a descriptive paragraph and know the causes of those grammatical errors. All data concerning grammatical errors were analyzed by using Surface Strategy Taxonomy by Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982). This research was designed in descriptive qualitative study. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Selemadeg.The subject of this research was the students of class XD which is consisted of 29 students. In analysing the data, the researcher collected the students’ descriptive writing, identified the errors, classified the errors, calculated and made the frequency of the errors, interpreted the students intended to say and drew the conclusion.The result of the study shows that there are omission error 30,2%, addition error 5,5%, misformation error 60,9% and misordering error 3,4%. So, the highest errors are made by the students are in the form of misformation error and the lowest errors are made by the students are in the form of misorderingerror. Besides, this study shows that the causes of errors are caused by interlingual error and intralingual error.keyword : descriptive text, grammatical error, writing
