Abstract

This study investigates the solubility behavior of water molecules on the surface of CuInS₂/ZnS Quantum Dots (QDs) in different solvents using an Ab Initio approach based on Density Functional Theory (DFT). The research evaluates the influence of solvent dielectric constant on surface potential energy and solute-solvent interaction energy. The study reveals that hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole interactions, and van der Waals forces significantly affect QDs stability and size. The findings indicate that solvents with higher dielectric constants destabilize nanoparticles, leading to electron transfer between particles. Among the tested solvents, chloroform provides an optimal balance between solubility, stability, and band gap (~1.68 eV). These results contribute to a deeper understanding of solvent-mediated effects on QDs, essential for their application in optoelectronics and bio-imaging.

Abstract

Municipal solid waste remains a pressing environmental challenge in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), characterized by the continuous increase in waste generation, limited waste-management infrastructure, and low levels of public awareness and participation. This study aims to identify and analyze public perceptions and attitudes toward waste management across the five administrative regions of DIY through the distribution of 250 questionnaires administered using a random-sampling technique. The collected data were examined using descriptive statistics, k-means clustering, and heatmap visualization. The findings indicate significant variations in awareness and participation levels based on demographic factors such as age, gender, educational background, occupation, and residential area. The clustering analysis categorized respondents into three groups low awareness (34%), moderate awareness (25%), and high awareness (41%) each requiring different forms of intervention. Beyond the social dimension, the results demonstrate that Islamic ethical principles such as cleanliness as part of faith, the prohibition of environmental destruction (fasād), and the human responsibility as khalifah (stewards of the Earth) serve as an ethical and spiritual foundation that can reinforce community-based waste-management initiatives. Overall, the study concludes that addressing the waste crisis in Yogyakarta requires more than infrastructural solutions; it demands cultural transformation, continuous environmental education, and cross-sector collaboration to build collective ecological awareness and sustainable public engagement.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a fundamental element in the success of higher education, especially in entrepreneurship courses that require creativity, innovation, courage to take risks, and mental toughness. This study aims to analyze the contribution of Islamic psychology concepts in increasing student learning motivation in entrepreneurship learning in Islamic higher education institutions. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and learning reflections on students from eight undergraduate programs at Ahmad Dahlan University, namely Psychology, Law, Information Systems, Food Technology, English Literature, Biology, Pharmacy, and Medicine. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Islamic psychological values, including fitrah, religious motivation, tazkiyatun nafs, work ethics, and the concept of ikhtiar tawakal, plays a significant role in increasing student learning motivation, both quantitatively (discipline, participation, and project completion) and qualitatively (deepening the meaning of learning, work ethic, courage to innovate, and resilience in the face of failure). A relatively consistent positive response was found in all study programs, but with nuances of internalization that differed according to the characteristics of each discipline. These findings emphasize the importance of developing an Islamic psychology-based entrepreneurial learning model to produce Muslim entrepreneurial graduates who are competent, have integrity, are resilient, and are oriented towards social benefit.

Abstract

Ideally, legal protection for industrial designs in Indonesia consistently adheres to the first-to-file principle, in which the party who first registers their design lawfully and in good faith is entitled to exclusive legal protection. However, in reality, complex disputes arise—as seen in the Geprek Bensu case—where claims over design ownership involve interpretations that touch upon morality, business reputation, and the applicant’s intent. This study aims to analyze the normative construction and practical implications of court decisions in the industrial design dispute between PT Ayam Geprek Benny Sujono and Ruben Onsu, with an emphasis on how the first-to-file principle is applied and interpreted in Indonesian legal practice. The method used in this research is normative legal research with a qualitative-descriptive approach, based on library research of relevant laws, court rulings, and legal literature. The findings indicate that, from a juridical perspective, the Supreme Court firmly upheld the first-to-file principle as stipulated in Article 12 of Law No. 31 of 2000, and rejected claims submitted without novelty and good faith. Normatively, the ruling forms a legal construction that clarifies the standards for industrial design registration and has practical implications by encouraging business actors, particularly MSMEs, to be more proactive in registering their designs lawfully and with integrity to obtain strong legal protection.

Abstract

The stability of drugs and nanocarriers is a crucial factor in guaranteeing their efficacy and quality. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) as lipid-based nanocarriers provide benefits in overcoming the stability and other issues associated with the drug. Surfactants play a crucial role in imparting the desired characteristics of lipid based systems, including stability, particle size, size distribution, and zeta potential. This study aimed to develop a capsanthin-loaded NLC formulation with an optimal surfactant combination that exhibits the required properties and stability. Three formulations were prepared applying Tween 20 and Span 80 in ratios of 5:1, 2:1, and 1:1 for F1, F2, and F3, respectively. Capsanthin, as an active ingredient, originates from paprika powder. NLC properties regarding transmittance, particle size, polydispersity index (PI), zeta potential, loading capacity (LC), and loading efficiency (LE) were characterized. Furthermore, stability studies were also conducted in this research. The results showed that F1 exhibited desirable characteristics, including transmittance percentage, particle size, PI, zeta potential, LC, and LE of 87.22±2.64%, 255.4±46.88 nm, 0.54±0.13, -39.51±3.02 mV, 12.59±0.35%, and 35.40±3.07%, respectively. Moreover, the physical stability studies exhibited that F1 provided a more stable system compared to other formulations. Additionally, the chemical stability indicated that degradation occurred in the paprika powder, not in the NLC. In conclusion, NLC can protect capsanthin, as evidenced by the stable capsanthin levels in NLC compared to those in paprika powder.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal consequences of land title certificates that still bear unpaid BPHTB (Duty on the Acquisition of Land and Building Rights) tax liabilities within the implementation context of the Complete Systematic Land Registration Program (PTSL), as well as to identify the challenges faced by the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) in collecting outstanding BPHTB. This research falls under the category of qualitative library research with a normative legal study approach. Primary sources include statutory regulations such as Law No. 28 of 2009 on Regional Taxes, Law No. 5 of 1960 on Basic Agrarian Principles (UUPA), and Ministerial Regulation of ATR/BPN No. 6 of 2018. The study concludes that the legally permitted postponement of BPHTB payments through regional head discretion has led to implementation conflicts with administrative land regulations—particularly regarding the issuance of land certificates by the National Land Agency (BPN), which requires proof of BPHTB payment. As a result, certificates issued under tax-deferred status do not carry full legal force for use as collateral or for land transactions. The regulatory disharmony between local fiscal policies and national administrative requirements has created legal uncertainty for the public, especially low-income groups who are the primary target of the PTSL program.

Abstract

The utilization of natural ingredients in cosmetic applications is increasing due to public awareness of their safety and minimal side effects. This study aims to evaluate and compare the antioxidant activity of facial serums containing Hibiscus sabdariffa (roselle) and Punica granatum (pomegranate) extracts. Physical quality tests were conducted, including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, specific gravity, and viscosity evaluations. Organoleptic observations showed both formulations had stable characteristics, including brown color, typical herbal aroma, and thick consistency without changes during storage. Homogeneity testing indicated no phase separation or sedimentation. The specific gravity of both serums was 1.02 g/mL, meeting SNI standards. Viscosity values were 2840 cps for roselle serum and 2540 cps for pomegranate serum, indicating appropriate consistency for topical use. The pH values were 3.75 ± 0.006 and 3.94 ± 0.017, respectively. Antioxidant activity was analyzed using the DPPH method. IC₅₀ values were 6000 ppm for roselle extract and 359.163 ± 0.437 ppm for pomegranate extract, indicating very weak antioxidant activity for anti-aging applications. This low activity may be influenced by extract concentration, degradation during formulation, storage conditions, and environmental exposure. While both serum formulations successfully met the SNI 19-4339-1996 physical quality requirements for topical use, their antioxidant efficacy was insufficient for potent anti-aging applications. This study contributes a critical baseline for natural serum formulation, identifying that physical stability does not guarantee antioxidant potency. These findings provide a necessary foundation for future research to focus on optimizing extract concentrations and stabilizing bioactive compounds against degradation during the formulation process. Keywords: Antioxidant activity, DPPH assay, Facial serum, Pomegranate extract, Roselle extract.
