Abstract

This study aims to analyze and empirically test the influence of transformational leadership style and work environment on the performance of Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police employees. Employee performance is a strategic factor in supporting the effectiveness of police duties and improving the quality of public services. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative method. The research data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 150 employees of the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police, who were selected using probability sampling with the simple random sampling method. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability, and all statement items were declared valid and reliable. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis with the help of statistical software, preceded by classical assumption testing. The results showed that transformational leadership style had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05.  The work environment has also been proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, the simultaneous test results show that transformational leadership style and work environment together have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.523 indicates that 52.3% of employee performance variation can be explained by transformational leadership style and work environment, while the rest is influenced by other variables outside the research model. These findings indicate that the application of effective transformational leadership style, accompanied by the creation of a conducive work environment, can increase employee motivation, commitment, and productivity. This study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of human resource management studies in the public sector, particularly in police institutions, and provides practical implications for the leadership of the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police in formulating leadership development and work environment improvement policies to improve employee performance in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of compensation management on employee retention among street vendors in Pangkalpinang, with an entrepreneurial orientation as a mediator. The informal sector experiences high turnover due to traditional and unstructured compensation systems. This quantitative study involved 96 street vendors with PLS-SEM analysis using SmartPLS 4.0. The results show: (1) Compensation management has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial orientation (β=0.729, p<0.001); (2) Compensation management does not have a significant direct effect on retention (β=0.035, p=0.827); (3) Entrepreneurial orientation has a significant positive effect on retention (β=0.760, p<0.001); (4) Entrepreneurial orientation fully mediates the effect of compensation on retention (94% of the effect is mediated, indirect effect=0.554, p<0.001). The findings indicate that improving retention requires a holistic approach that combines a structured compensation system with the development of an entrepreneurial culture. The study contributes to the HRM literature in the informal sector, showing that HRM practices remain relevant with different mechanisms from the formal sector.

Abstract

Master's students face high academic demands, involvement in organizational activities, and the need to maintain a balanced personal life. These conditions require effective strategies so that students can perform various roles without causing excessive stress. This study aims to analyze students' strategies in maintaining a balance between academic work, organizational activities, and personal life among Master of Management students at Pertiba University. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 72 students as respondents. The research variables consisted of student strategies as the independent variable and life balance as the dependent variable. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability, which showed that all statement items were valid with a calculated r value greater than the table r value (0.232) and reliable with a Cronbach's Alpha value above 0.70. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics and linear regression analysis to test the influence between variables.  The results of the study indicate that students' strategies fall into the good category, as reflected in their ability to manage time, set priorities, and control academic stress. Students' life balance also falls into the good category, as demonstrated by their ability to complete academic assignments, carry out organizational activities proportionally, and maintain their health and personal lives. The results of the regression analysis show that students' strategies have a significant effect on life balance. These findings indicate that the better the strategies implemented by students, the higher the level of balance between academic, organizational, and personal life demands. This study has important implications for students, study program managers, and educational institutions in designing policies and support programs that encourage the creation of sustainable student life balance. Thus, self-management strategies are a key factor in improving the quality of academic experience and well-being of master's students.

Abstract

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the body is unable to produce enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it produces, resulting in an increase in blood glucose levels. One of the factors that affects the stability of glucose and insulin is the hormone cortisol, which is produced in response to stress. The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model of diabetes detection in blood cells by considering the influence of cortisol. The model is formulated as a system of linear differential equations and analyzed through equilibrium points and eigenvalue analysis. The results show that two eigenvalues form asymptotically stable spirals, while the other two are asymptotically stable nodes, indicating system stability. The novelty of this study lies in the inclusion of cortisol, which delays stabilization of glucose–insulin dynamics and provides a more realistic representation of physiological conditions under stress. A limitation of this study is that the model relies on simplifying assumptions without clinical validation. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for further model development by considering other regulatory factors, with implications for improving diabetes prevention and intervention strategies in stress-related conditions.

Abstract

Binary cross-entropy (BCE) minimization is a standard objective in probabilistic binary classification, yet practical training pipelines often rely on first-order methods whose performance can be sensitive to step-size choices and may require many iterations to reach low-loss solutions. This paper studies an inexact curvature-based solver that combines a (generalized) Gauss–Newton approximation with conjugate gradient (CG) inner iterations for minimizing the regularized BCE objective in full-batch logistic regression. At each outer iteration, the method computes a descent direction by approximately solving a damped Gauss–Newton system in a matrix-free manner via repeated products with X and X⊤, and terminates CG according to a relative-residual inexactness rule. Numerical experiments on three benchmark datasets show that the proposed Inexact GGN–CG can substantially reduce the number of outer iterations on smaller numerical data, while remaining competitive in predictive performance, and can improve both validation and test mean BCE on larger mixed-type data after one-hot encoding. In particular, on Adult Census Income the method achieves lower test mean BCE (0.3176 ± 0.0044) and higher F1-score (0.6623 ± 0.0066) than Adam and gradient descent under the same regularization-selection protocol, at the cost of additional CG work. These results highlight how damping and inexactness jointly govern the trade-off between curvature-solve effort, wall-clock time, and achieved BCE values in deterministic logistic-regression training.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of farmers’ welfare between agricultural subsectors in Indonesia in the short and long term using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach. The data used includes the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) from five subsectors: Food, Hor ticulture, Plantations, Farms, and Fisheries. The results of the study show that there are differences in the relationship between subsectors in the short and long term. In the long term, Food NTP, Horti culture NTP, and Plantation NTP affect each other significantly, both positively and negatively, while Farms NTP and Fisheries NTP tend to have a more limited influence. On the other hand, short-term relationships are more influenced by NTP values from previous periods. The VECM model proved to be accurate in modeling the relationship between subsectors, with the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value of all subsectors being below 10%. In detail, MAPE for Food NTP is 2.18%, Horticulture NTP 4.18%, Plantation NTP 3.43%, Farms NTP 0.71%, and Fisheries NTP 0.86%. Thus, the VECM model is effectively used to analyze the dynamics of farmers’ welfare between subsectors in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Oman Al Makmur Mosque in empowering the local community's economy through a sharia-based cooperative. The research focuses on assessing two main aspects: the mosque's role as a center of economic activity and the impact of the cooperative on the welfare of its members and the surrounding environment. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The uniqueness of this study lies in its emphasis on the role of the mosque economy and the application of Qardhul Hasan in cooperative practices, which is rarely explored. The data were analyzed thematically to discuss issues of cooperative management, the implementation of the Qardhul Hasan mechanism, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced. This study also makes a significant contribution to the discourse on Islamic-based economic empowerment and provides practical guidance for mosque managers and financial institutions in supporting community-based MSMEs. The research results show that since its establishment in October 2022, the mosque cooperative has facilitated interest-free capital for more than 130 members to start and develop micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Bank Indonesia and BPRS Hikmah Wakilah have strengthened access to capital. This research makes an important contribution to the discourse on Islamic-based economic empowerment and offers practical guidance for mosque managers and financial institutions in supporting community-based MSMEs. The uniqueness of this study lies in the emphasis on the role of the mosque economy and the application of Qardhul Hasan in cooperative practices, which are still rarely explored.

Abstract

Premarital counseling programs play a pivotal role in fostering the development of quality families and preventing stunting at its roots. However, the implementation of these programs faces significant challenges, including low community engagement, insufficient cross-sector synergy, and limited service innovation. This study aims to investigate the influence of cross-sector collaboration, organizational commitment, and service innovation on the effectiveness of premarital counseling programs, with community participation acting as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing a survey administered to prospective couples undergoing premarital counseling conducted by relevant officers in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)-Partial Least Squares (PLS) to assess the interrelationships among the variables. The findings indicate that cross-sector collaboration, organizational commitment, and service innovation significantly enhance community participation and, consequently, the effectiveness of premarital counseling programs. Furthermore, community participation was found to significantly mediate the relationship between the independent variables and program effectiveness, thereby amplifying their impact. This research contributes to the literature by advancing the understanding of the role of cross-sector collaboration, organizational commitment, and service innovation in public service delivery, and highlights the critical importance of strengthening community participation as a strategic approach to improving the effectiveness of premarital counseling programs in fostering quality families
