Abstract

Terrestrial insects play an important role in maintaining the balance of agricultural ecosystems, studies specifically examining their community structure in educational agroecosystems, such as integrated agricultural laboratories, remain limited, thereby highlighting the need to assess their density and ecological indices as indicators of environmental conditions. The study aimed to measure the density, diversity index, richness index, evenness index, and dominance index of terrestrial insects using twelve pitfall traps at the Jagan Sukoharjo Integrated Agricultural Laboratory. The study used the pitfall trap method with twelve traps placed randomly in the study area. Observations were made for 3 consecutive days. The data collected consisted of the number of individuals of each type of terrestrial insect, which were then analyzed using density, diversity, richness, evenness, and dominance indices. The results indicate that the Integrated Agricultural Laboratory of Jagan supports a relatively high richness of terrestrial insect species; however, the community structure is still dominated by a few opportunistic species, reflecting the characteristics of an educational agroecosystem with a moderate level of ecological stability. These findings indicate that the terrestrial insect community at the Jagan Integrated Agricultural Laboratory is diverse and has the potential to reflect the ecological conditions of the local agricultural environment. Furthermore, this study provides empirical evidence that strengthens the use of terrestrial insects as bioindicators in educational agroecosystems and contributes to the development of sustainable agroecosystem management strategies through biodiversity-based monitoring.

Abstract

Abstract

Critical thinking skills in science learning can be improved by learning accompanied by learning model-based modules. Inductive learning is one of the lessons that can be integrated with the module as an alternative to empower critical thinking skills. This meta-analysis research aims to determine the effectiveness of learning with inductive learning-based modules to improve critical thinking skills, especially in the fields of science (biology, physics, and chemistry). This type of research was survey research and descriptive. Data were collected online and obtained 13 articles in the fields of biology, physics, and chemistry from 2014-2019 published in Indonesia and outside Indonesia. The calculation results show that the average effect size (ES) was 2.1 with the high category. These results indicate that science learning with inductive learning-based modules provides high effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills. Based on the relationship between variables, it was known that the variable in the field of study gives the greatest ES results (ES = 4.3) in the field of physics, while the variable for education level gives the largest ES result (ES = 2.14) at the high school level.

Abstract

Outdoor learning was learning that gives students the opportunity to explore the surrounding environment  as a source of learning. Students are required to be able to construct knowledge independently throgh the process of  exploring the learning environment in Systematics of High Plant. This research aims to improve student cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of outdoor learning in the subject of High Plant Systematics. The method used was classroom action research with 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of four basic stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Samples used in this study was 22  fourth semester students of Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teaching and Education, University of Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo .The study was conducted in March and May 2015. The cognitive learning was measured through the posttest. The results showed that the cognitive learning outcomes of students increased from the first cycle to the second cycle amounted to 27.56% and from the second cycle to the third cycle of 10.20%. Target of cognitive learning outcomes at least achieved grade of 75 in average.
