Abstract

This Community Service Program responds to the increasing volume of household medical waste, such as disposable masks, diapers, syringes, and expired medicines, which are often disposed of carelessly and pollute the environment. The partners are located in the Home Mojolaban Sentul housing complex RT 02 RW 7 Mojolaban Sukoharjo, which is a new housing complex, with 30 young couples and many toddlers who often have problems with medical waste. The objectives of this program include educating the community about medical waste, the dangers of medical waste, and how to sort medical waste. The activities designed and implemented include socialization and training on sorting and managing medical waste. From the results of counseling and training on managing household medical waste for residents of the Home Bekonang Sentul housing complex, it can be concluded; There was an increase in understanding about managing household medical waste from an average score of 68.5 to 89.58, meaning there was an increase in understanding of 21.08 (35.47%). For waste sorting skills, all participants are skilled because the average score is 97. Household Medical Waste Management Training Activities and the like still need to be implemented and improved, because they have many benefits for improving public welfare and health.

Abstract

This study examines the diversity of medicinal plants in Las-Lasan Village, Klaten, and develops a research-based learning module for high school students. This research is part of a research and development project encompassing the following stages: preliminary study, planning, initial product development, revision of the initial product, limited field testing, and revision of the second product. The learning module design is based on existing learning modules used in high schools and integrated with the research findings on medicinal plant diversity. The learning module was validated by learning module experts and experts in plant diversity. Data analysis of expert validation results was conducted using quantitative descriptive analysis. The study concludes that the medicinal plant diversity learning module based on research in Las-Lasan Village, Klaten is highly feasible for use in high school biology learning. By integrating empirical data, the module enhances students’ understanding of ecology and biodiversity, promotes independent learning, and supports contextual, critical, and applicable education.

Abstract

Abstract

In the digital era, it is necessary to develop an online booklet on crystal guava pests and diseases. Pests and diseases are major constraints on agricultural productivity, disrupting plant physiology and growth, and thus reducing yields. The objective of this research is to develop an online booklet on crystal guava pests and diseases and how to manage them. Data collection was conducted through observation and interviews with owners and managers to obtain information on pests and diseases. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The study identified five pests of crystal guava: fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis), ladybug (Epilachna admirabilis), leaf caterpillar (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), armyworm (Spodoptera litura), and mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus). The diseases identified were: Capnodium citri fungus (sooty mold), anthracnose disease (Colletotricum sp), red rust disease (Chephaleuros virescens), white fungus Fusarium sp, fruit rot disease (Botryodiplodia sp), and leaf spot disease (Cercospora psidii). Crystal guava care is carried out by maintaining garden cleanliness, adjusting plant spacing, fertilizing, spraying insecticides, setting fly traps, and wrapping young fruit. The conclusion of this research can be developed into a YouTube-based booklet as a guide for crystal guava farmers.

Abstract

Aquatic insects are among the most successful groups of macroinvertebrates in freshwater habitats. This condition is indicated by the composition, presence and wide distribution as well as the ability of insects to adapt to various types of freshwater habitats which are components of bottom water communities. The aim of this research was to determine the diversity index, species richness index and dominance index of aquatic insects in Colo Dam, Nguter District, Sukoharjo Regency. This research method is quantitative descriptive. Quantitative analysis includes measuring the Diversity Index (H'), Species Richness Index (R1) and Dominance Index (D). The results of research on water insects at Colo Dam found 27 species. The highest number of individuals is the Water Strider with 75 species, while the fewest species are Rhinocypha perforata with 16 species. The conclusion of this research is that the Diversity Index of 3.23 is considered moderate. The type of Wealth Index obtained at 3.67 is considered medium and the Dominance Index at 0.0416 is considered low. Recommendations for further research include adding a Biotic Index to see the quality of the waters in the Colo Dam. It is hoped that the results of this research can become a reference or further research.

Abstract

Garden plants are plants that can adapt to the local environment and have economic, social and ecological functions. This research aims to identify garden plants in Tamansari Village, Kerjo District, Karanganyar Regency. This research activity was carried out for 3 months, namely Februari 2024-April 2024. The study was conducted at Tamansari Village, which has nine hamlets, including Glagah Hamlet., Sidomulyo Hamlet, Mbabadan Hamlet, Jambewangi Hamlet, Nggiren Hamlet, Ngrandah Hamlet, Taman Hamlet, Sidi Hamlet, and Klebrekan Hamlet. The method used in this research is exploratory descriptive with survey/observation and interview methods as supporting data. The number of yards observed was 40 residents' house yards with 5 categories of plants, namely fruit plants, vegetable plants, medicinal plants, shade plants and ornamental plants. From these 5 plant categories, 87 species of garden plants were obtained. From the research results, the plants most frequently identified were 37 types of ornamental plants, 21 types of fruit plants, 13 types of medicinal plants, 8 types of vegetables, and 5 types of shade plants.
