Abstract

Background: Nutritional issues related to underweight remain a public health issue that impacts child growth and development. Supplemental feeding is one intervention taken to address underweight, particularly in early childhood, who are in a critical growth phase. The prevalence of underweight children in Indonesia reached 17.1%, while in Central Java the figure was 17.6% in 2022. In Sukoharjo Regency, the prevalence of underweight was recorded at 11.8%, with 228 cases reported in the Mojolaban Community Health Center area. This situation indicates the need for intervention to address the nutritional challenges faced by children. Purpose:  To analyze the effectiveness of supplementary feeding on the weight/age index of underweight toddlers. Method: A quasi-experimental study involving 100 underweight toddlers aged 12–60 months. Sampling was carried out through random sampling at the integrated service post within the Mojolaban Community Health Center area. Weight measurements were carried out using a digital scale specifically for children with an accuracy of 0.1 kg. The data obtained were analyzed using a weight-for-age (BW/A) z-score based on WHO guidelines. Normality testing was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk method, while differences were assessed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: There was an increase in BW/A in early childhood after a month-long (30-day) supplementary feeding intervention program. Children with normal nutritional status experienced an increase from 9.6% to 19.2%, while those in the severely malnourished category decreased from 14.4% to 10.6%. The nutritional status of underweight toddlers also decreased from 76% to 70.2%. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between BW/A values ​​before and after the supplementary feeding program. Conclusion: Supplemental feeding has an impact on the nutritional status of underweight toddlers, although the impact is not optimal and has not reached all targets equally. This supplemental nutrition intervention has the potential to increase its effectiveness through improvements in timing, quality, and family involvement in its implementation. Suggestion: Future research is recommended to extend the supplemental feeding period to observe the medium-term effects on the nutritional status of toddlers. Furthermore, a more in-depth review is needed, incorporating other variables, such as health background, eating habits, and environmental conditions that may influence nutritional status.   Keywords: Supplemental; Toddlers; Underweight; Weight/Age Index.   Pendahuluan: Masalah gizi terkait underweight masih tetap menjadi isu kesehatan masyarakat yang memengaruhi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) adalah salah satu langkah intervensi yang diambil untuk menangani masalah underweight, khususnya pada anak usia dini yang berada dalam fase pertumbuhan penting. Angka prevalensi anak underweight di Indonesia mencapai 17.1%, sementara di Jawa Tengah angkanya sebesar 17.6% pada tahun 2022. Di Kabupaten Sukoharjo, prevalensi underweight tercatat sebesar 11.8%, dengan 228 kasus yang dilaporkan di area Puskesmas Mojolaban. Situasi ini menandakan perlunya intervensi untuk menyelesaikan masalah gizi yang dihadapi oleh anak-anak. Tujuan: Untuk menganalisis efektivitas pemberian makanan tambahan terhadap indeks bb/u balita underweight. Metode: Penelitian kuasi eksperimen yang melibatkan 100 balita underweight berusia 12–60 bulan. Pengambilan sampel melalui random sampling di posyandu wilayah kerja Puskesmas Mojolaban. pengukuran berat badan menggunakan timbangan digital khusus anak dengan tingkat akurasi 0.1 kg. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan z-score berat badan menurut umur (BB/U) berdasarkan pedoman dari WHO. Pengujian normalitas dilakukan menggunakan metode Shapiro-Wilk, sedangkan perbedaan data diuji menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test dengan tingkat signifikansi p < 0.05. Hasil: Adanya peningkatan berat badan berdasarkan usia (BB/U) pada anak-anak usia dini setelah program intervensi PMT selama sebulan (30 hari). Anak-anak dengan status gizi normal mengalami kenaikan dari 9.6% menjadi 19.2%, sedangkan kategori gizi sangat kurang mengalami penurunan dari 14.4% menjadi 10.6%. Status gizi balita gizi kurang juga turun dari 76% menjadi 70.2%. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test menunjukkan nilai p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), sehingga adanya perbedaan signifikan antara nilai BB/U sebelum dan sesudah program PMT dilaksanakan. Simpulan: Pemberian makanan tambahan (PMT) memengaruhi perubahan status gizi balita underweight, meskipun dampaknya belum optimal dan belum menjangkau semua sasaran secara merata. Intervensi gizi tambahan ini memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan efektivitasnya melalui perbaikan dalam waktu, kualitas, dan keterlibatan keluarga dalam pelaksanaanya. Saran: Penelitian selanjutnya dianjurkan untuk memperpanjang periode PMT, sehingga dapat mengamati efek dalam jangka menengah pada status gizi anak balita. Selain itu, diperlukan tinjauan yang lebih mendalam dengan memasukkan variabel lain, seperti latar belakang kesehatan, kebiasaan makan, dan kondisi lingkungan yang bisa berpengaruh pada status gizi.   Kata Kunci: Balita; Indeks BB/U; Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT); Underweight.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional problems in children under five, particularly underweight cases, remain a major public health challenge in Indonesia with significant impacts on child development. In 2019, the prevalence of underweight (weight-for-age) among children under five in Indonesia reached 17.1%, while in Sukoharjo Regency it was recorded at 11.8%. Compliance with the supplementary feeding program is an important strategy to address this issue. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between compliance with consumption of supplementary feeding and nutritional status (W/A) in underweight toddlers. Method: A cross-sectional design was used, involving 104 underweight children under five from a total population of 228, selected by simple random sampling. Primary data were collected through interviews with parents, while secondary data were obtained from Mojolaban Health Center. Body weight was measured using a digital scale and calculated into weight-for-age Z-scores (W/A), while compliance was assessed using weekly comstock monitoring. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The majority of mothers were aged 26–35 years (69.2%), unemployed (73.1%), had incomes above the minimum wage (52.9%), and had a high school education (57.7%). Compliance with supplementary feeding was low (17.3%). After the intervention, 60.6% of toddlers gained weight and 19.3% had normal nutritional status, but statistical analysis (p=0.101) showed no significant relationship between compliance with supplementary feeding and nutritional status. Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between compliance with supplementary feeding and nutritional status (weight-for-age) in underweight toddlers. Suggestion: The quality of additional food consumed, frequency of illness, and daily food consumption are several other factors that can influence the nutritional status of toddlers and need to be included in further research.   Keywords: Adherence; Nutritional Status; Supplementary Feeding; Underweight.   Pendahuluan: Masalah gizi pada balita, khususnya kasus underweight, masih menjadi tantangan kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia dengan dampak signifikan terhadap perkembangan anak. Pada tahun 2019, prevalensi balita underweight (berat badan menurut umur) di Indonesia mencapai 17.1%, sementara di Kabupaten Sukoharjo tercatat sebesar 11.8%. Kepatuhan terhadap program Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) menjadi strategi penting untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Tujuan: Untuk menganalisis hubungan kepatuhan konsumsi PMT dan status gizi (BB/U) pada balita underweight. Metode: Penelitian dengan desain cross-sectional yang melibatkan 104 balita underweight dari populasi 228, dipilih secara simple random sampling. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara orang tua, sedangkan data sekunder dari Puskesmas Mojolaban. Berat badan diukur dengan timbangan digital dan dihitung Z-score BB/U, kepatuhan dinilai dari comstock mingguan. Analisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square dengan p < 0.05. Hasil: Mayoritas ibu berusia 26–35 tahun (69.2%), tidak bekerja (73.1%), berpendapatan di atas UMR (52.9%), dan berpendidikan SMA (57.7%). Tingkat kepatuhan konsumsi PMT rendah (17.3%). Setelah intervensi, 60.6% balita naik berat badan dan 19.3% berstatus gizi normal, namun uji statistik (p=0.101) menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan signifikan antara kepatuhan PMT dan status gizi. Simpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kepatuhan mengonsumsi PMT dengan status gizi berat badan menurut umur (BB/U) pada balita underweight. Saran: Kualitas makanan tambahan yang dikonsumsi, frekuensi sakit, dan konsumsi makanan sehari-hari merupakan beberapa faktor lain yang dapat memengaruhi status gizi balita dan perlu diikutsertakan dalam penelitian selanjutnya. Abstract

Appetite is a natural urge that arises from the body, which can be influenced by physiological and psychological conditions. Food-related content (food vlogs) widely available on social media is believed to be one of the factors that can influence increased appetite, especially among university students. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the habit of watching food vlogs and increased appetite among students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The study employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sampling process uses simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire on food vlog viewing habits consisting of 15 statements and the FCQ-T (Food Cravings Questionnaire-Trait) questionnaire with 35 statements. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test via SPSS software version 20. The questionnaire results indicated that the majority of students had a high food vlog viewing habit (72.2%). However, the majority of students experienced a low increase in appetite (60.8%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant correlation between the two variables with a p-value of 0.003 and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.326. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the more frequently an individual watches food vlogs, the more likely their appetite will increase, although the effect is not overly significant.

Abstract

Dismenore sering terjadi pada wanita usia produktif salah satunya yaitu remaja. Hasil survei pendahuluan terdapat 80% remaja putri yang mengalami dismenore. Faktor-faktor yang diduga menjadi penyebab dismenore yaitu status gizi dan usia menarche. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara status gizi dan usia menarche dengan kejadian dismenore pada remaja putri di Pondok Pesantren Ushuludin. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis observasional analitik. Desain penelitian cross sectional. Total Sampel 87 responden remaja putri di Pondok Pesantresn Ushuludin Lampung Selatan. Pengambilan data dengan teknik systematic random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk dismenore yaitu WaLIDD score, status gizi diukur menggunakan indeks IMT/U, dan usia menarche dengan kuesioner. Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji spearman dan chi square dengan derajat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu responden paling banyak dengan usia remaja akhir 15-18 tahun (59,8%). Sebanyak 77% reponden mengalami dismenore. Responden dengan status gizi normal (72,4%) dan usia menarche dini (58,6%). Terdapat hubungan antara status gizi (p= 0,017; r=0,255) dan usia menarche (p=0,029; PR 2,631; 95% CI 1,1660-5,937) dengan kejadian dismenore pada remaja putri di Pondok Pesantren Ushuludin Lampung Selatan. Remaja putri sebaiknya selalu menjaga kondisi kesehatan dan diharapkan agar dapat memahami perawatan nyeri untuk mengurangi dismenore.

Abstract

Growth during adolescence is rapid due to the development of muscle mass and fat tissue as well as hormonal changes that affect the nutritional needs of adolescents. The purpose of this study was to determine how the nutritional status of adolescents and the level of energy adequacy and physical activity relate to each other. This type of research uses a cross-sectional design. The number of samples taken with simple random sampling technique in this study was 152 people. Data collection of energy adequacy level using SQ-FFQ, physical activity data with PAL questionnaire, and nutritional status of respondents obtained from measurements of BW and TB. The results showed that most participants had an adequate level of energy sufficiency (65.1%) according to the Spearman Rank test, physical activity was mostly in the moderate category (63.8%), and the majority had good nutritional status (80.9%). The results of the Spearman Rank test showed that there was a significant correlation between the level of energy adequacy and nutritional status (p value = 0.045) and there was a significant correlation between physical activity and nutritional status (p value = 0.021). The conclusion is that there is a significant correlation between the level of energy adequacy and physical activity with nutritional status in adolescents at Walisongo Ketanggungan High School. It is recommended for the school to collaborate with the health department or local health center to make preventive and promotive efforts related to nutritional status problems through education about General Guidelines for Balanced Nutrition (PUGS).

Abstract

Kasus stunting pada balita masih menjadi salah satu masalah yang paling mendesak dalam bidang gizi di Indonesia. Kasus stunting pada balita merupakan salah satu permasalahan gizi yang terus menjadi kritis di Indonesia. Kejadian ini timbul dari kombinasi penyebab lingkungan dan manusia, yang dipengaruhi oleh asupan makanan yang tidak memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Untuk menganalisis hubungan karakteristik ibu, pemberian ASI eksklusif, dan berat badan lahir dengan kejadian stunting di Puskesmas Gatak, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional dengan metode Simple Random Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sebanyak 77,3% balita stunting akibat ibu hamil <20 dan >35 tahun dengan nilai p* 0,002 dan nilai OR 95%CI nya 5,667, terdapat 67,6% balita stunting akibat pendidikan ibu dengan nilai p* 0,004 dan nilai OR 95%CI nya 4,182, terdapat 69% balita stunting akibat ibu yang bekerja dengan nilai p* 0,008 dan nilai OR 95%CI nya 3,852. Selain itu, terdapat 67,6% balita stunting akibat tidak diberikan ASI eksklusif dengan nilai p* 0,004 dan nilai OR 95%CI nya 4,182. Untuk berat badan lahir terdapat balita stunting sebanyak 62,5% dengan Riwayat BBLR dengan nilai p* 0,255 dan nilai OR 95%CI nya 1,933. Kesimpulan menyatakan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara karakteristik ibu dan pemberian ASI eksklusif dengan kejadian stunting, namun tidak terdapat hubungan antara berat badan lahir dengan kejadian stunting.

Abstract

Educational media has an important role in students' learning process. The number of student score results has decreased, indicating that students' understanding of the material is relatively low. Media that feels appropriate and in accordance with current conditions is booklet learning media. The purpose of this study was to analyze the understanding of junior high school students using booklet learning media. This research uses Research and Development research procedures (research and development). The analysis of this study is a questionnaire on the feasibility of educational media through booklets. The questionnaires tested the validity of media experts and material experts and student learning outcomes with the existence of learning media through booklets.

Abstract

The nutritional status of adolescents is currently a major public health concern, particularly due to the increase in cases of overweight and obesity, which increase the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and heart disease. The main factors influencing nutritional status are a balanced diet and adequate physical activity. However, other factors such as knowledge of balanced nutrition guidelines and pocket money management also play an important role. Nutrition knowledge is expected to influence attitudes and healthy food choices, while higher pocket money amounts may increase the tendency to purchase high-calorie, low-nutrient foods, thereby contributing to the risk of overweight. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge of balanced nutrition guidelines and pocket money with nutritional status among high school students at SMA IT Nur Hidayah Sukoharjo. A cross-sectional observational study design was used with a population of all 11th grade students (N=283). The study sample consisted of 72 students, selected through simple random sampling. Data analysis used the Pearson product moment statistical test for nutrition knowledge and the Spearman rank test for pocket money,following the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test. The results showed no significant relationship between knowledge of balanced nutrition guidelines and overweight status among adolescents (p=0.676). However, there was a significant relationship between the amount of pocket money and overweight status among adolescents (p=0.043). This indicates that nutrition knowledge is not a direct factor influencing overweight status, while a higher amount of pocket money is correlated with the risk of overweight due to excessive consumption patterns. Teenagers are advised to increase their knowledge and application of balanced nutrition in their daily lives and to use their pocket money wisely when buying food and drinks.

Abstract

Beban kerja yang  tidak sesuai dengan kemampuan pekerja menjadi penyebab   timbulnya kelelahan kerja. Kelelahan kerja dapat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor:  beban kerja yang berat dan asupan yang kurang memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara beban kerja dan asupan gizi makro dengan kelelahan ahli gizi rumah sakit di Wilayah Sukoharjo. Desain penelitian ini cross sectional dengan teknik stratified random sampling dari 52 populasi sehingga diperoleh sampel yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi sejumlah 34 responden ahli gizi. Data beban kerja diperoleh melalui observasi pencatatan aktivitas. Asupan gizi makro diperoleh melalui recall 24 jam. Data kelelahan kerja diperoleh dengan pengisian kuesioner Industrial Fatigue Research Committee.  Analisis data menggunakan  uji  pearson product moment. Mayoritas ahli  gizi mengalami beban kerja dengan kategori sedang 19 responden (55,8%) dan 23 responden (67, 6%) memiliki skor kelelahan kerja tinggi. Tidak ditemukan hubungan antara beban kerja dan asupan gizi makro dengan kelelahan kerja ahli gizi rumah sakit di Wilayah Sukoharjo, hasil uji statistik untuk beban kerja dengan kelelahan didapatkan nilai p = 0,353. Hasil uji statistik asupan gizi makro dengan kelelahan  didapatkan nilai p 0,090 (energi ); p 0, 084 (protein); p 0,831 ( lemak); p 0,322 (karbohidrat).

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of adolescent nutritional problems, particularly those related to breakfast habits and obesity, necessitates effective nutrition education strategies that can be implemented both in traditional face-to-face settings and through digital platforms. Contemporary educational approaches must adapt to technological advances while maintaining pedagogical effectiveness, making it crucial to evaluate the comparative efficacy of different delivery methods for nutrition education among adolescents. This study aims to determine the difference in nutrition knowledge levels among junior high school students who received nutrition education using booklet media through offline (luring) and online (daring) methods. The research design employed was a quasi-experimental approach with a nonequivalent control group design, involving 60 eighth-grade students from SMP Al-Islam 1 Surakarta and SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. Participants were divided into a control group (offline) and an experimental group (online). Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 20 validated questions regarding the importance of breakfast, administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the intervention. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test for within-group comparisons and the independent sample t-test for between-group comparisons. The results showed an average difference in students' knowledge scores of 19.67 for the offline method and 19.83 for the online method, with a p-value of 0.904, indicating no significant difference between the two methods. These findings suggest that both methods are equally effective in improving students' nutrition knowledge, making them viable alternatives for nutrition education in schools.
