Abstract

Background & Objective: Malnutrition is still common in many developing countries including Indonesia.Various efforts made by the government to overcome malnutrition. One of them is through nutritioneducation as in the Therapeutic Feeding Center (TFC) program. Activities that increase knowledge ofnutrition will depend highly on the mother‟s education level. This study aims to analyze the correlation ofeducation level to mother‟s knowledge of children under five following the TFC program in Sukoharjoregency, Central Java. Method : This study used an observational design with Cross Sectional approachwhich took place in September 2016-February 2017 at Gatak, Weru and Sukoharjo Public Health Center. 35samples were chosen by Simple Random Sampling technique. The maternal education and nutritionalknowledge variables were obtained using questionaires that has been tested for reliability. Statistical analysisusing Chi Square. Results: Respondent were mostly mothers with children aged 37-60 months (77.1%),aged <35 years (60%), low family income (62%) and small family (77.1 %). The majority mothers with loweducation are 54.3% and have good nutritional knowledge of 45.7%. The minimum score of mother'snutritional knowledge is 50 and the maximum is 90 with an average of 68.5 points. The correlation test got ap value of 0.03 with Odd Ratio of 6.2 (1.4-26.9) means that mother with a low education level has aprobability 6.2 times higher lack of nutritional knowledge. Conclusion: There is a correlation betweeneducation level with knowledge of mother following TFC program in Sukoharjo Regency Central Java.

Abstract

The Gajah Tani Makmur Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Gajahan Village has 62 members with 500 m² of land used for hydroponic cultivation. Partners face a number of obstacles, namely (1) less than optimal production due to expensive nutrients, (2) limited electricity resources for hydroponic irrigation, (3) not yet using modern financial bookkeeping, and (4) no experience in utilizing digital marketing. To address these problems, community service activities were carried out in several stages, namely stage 1 socialization in the form of an introduction to solar cells, the use of liquid fertilizer; stage 2 technical training covering the use of solar cells; stage 3 managerial training in the form of financial management and digital marketing; and stage 4 practical demonstrations on the KWT land. The results of the activities showed an increase in knowledge and skills, including (1) training in financial administration and digital marketing increased the average knowledge of participants from 61.5 to 84.8 with a significant change of 23.3 points; (2) training in making organic liquid fertilizer succeeded in providing practical skills to 30 participants in processing household waste into environmentally friendly fertilizer; (3) training on the use of solar panels increased participants' knowledge from 90.5 to 96.4, a change of 5.8 points; (4) participants' responses to the training method showed that 75 percent agreed; and (5) a survey on understanding solar cell maintenance showed that 81 percent of participants agreed. Thus, this community service activity effectively increased knowledge of production, management, and the use of renewable energy technology to support hydroponic farming.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan Kebiasaan Makan Sayur Buah dan Kualitas Tidur Terhadap Siklus Menstruasi Pada Remaja Putri di SMP Pondok Modern Selamat Kendal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional dengan desain cross-sectional yang dilakukan selama enam bulan di SMP Pondok Modern Selamat Kendal. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari remaja putri kelas VII, VIII, dan IX dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 59 subjek. Tekniik analisis data dilakukan menggunakan SPSS versi 20, meliputi analisis univariat untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik variabel penelitian dan analisis bivariat untuk menguji hubungan antara kebiasaan makan, kualitas tidur, dan siklus menstruasi menggunakan uji Chi Square. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mayoritas siswi SMP Pondok Modern Selamat Kendal memiliki kebiasaan makan sayur yang baik, dengan 113 siswi (91,1%) sering mengonsumsi sayur, sementara 11 siswi (8,9%) jarang mengonsumsinya. Untuk kebiasaan makan buah, 83 siswi (66,9%) sering mengonsumsi buah, sedangkan 41 siswi (33,1%) jarang melakukannya. Dalam hal kualitas tidur, sebagian besar siswi, yaitu 108 siswi (87,1%), memiliki kualitas tidur yang buruk, dan hanya 16 siswi (12,9%) yang memiliki kualitas tidur baik. Dari segi siklus menstruasi, 87 siswi (70,2%) memiliki siklus yang normal, sementara 37 siswi (29,8%) memiliki siklus yang tidak normal. Analisis lebih lanjut menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara konsumsi sayur dan siklus menstruasi (P-Value 0,003), serta antara konsumsi buah dan siklus menstruasi (P-Value 0,002). Namun, kualitas tidur tidak menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan siklus menstruasi (P-Value 0,145).

Abstract

Menstruasi merupakan proses fisiologis yang mendapatkan pengaruh dari keseimbangan hormon reproduksi, seperti estrogen atau progesteron.. Ketidakteraturan siklus menstruasi pada mahasiswi sering dikaitkan dengan berbagai faktor gaya hidup, salah satunya pola makan. Konsumsi comfort food yang tinggi gula, lemak, dan kalori pada usia dewasa awal berpotensi memengaruhi regulasi hormon reproduksi melalui mekanisme peningkatan kadar insulin, androgen, dan kortisol, sehingga dapat menghambat siklus ovulasi serta keteraturan proses menstruasi.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kebiasaan konsumsi comfort food dengan siklus menstruasi pada mahasiswi Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dan mengaplikasikan pendekatan cross sectional. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil pada bulan Juli 2025 menggunakan instrumen Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) untuk menilai konsumsi comfort food dan kuesioner siklus menstruasi. Sampel penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswi UMS berusia 19-21 tahun berjumlah 85 responden yang ditetapkan melalui random sampling sederhana. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mengaplikasikan uji korelasi Spearman dan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 57,6% dari total responden (49 responden) sering mengonsumsi comfort food dan sebanyak 40% dari total responden (34 responden) mempunyai siklus menstruasi tidak teratur. Uji Spearman menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan dan positif sedang antara konsumsi comfort food dan panjang siklus menstruasi (ρ = 0,428; p < 0,05). Selain itu, uji Chi-Square menunjukkan bahwa responden dengan konsumsi comfort food tinggi memiliki risiko sekitar lima kali lebih besar mengalami siklus menstruasi tidak teratur (OR = 5,084; p = 0,001). Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya edukasi mengenai pola makan sehat dan pengelolaan stres untuk mendukung kesehatan reproduksi mahasiswi.

Abstract

Kolesterol termasuk pada golongan lipid yang memiliki sifat aterogenik yaitu sifat yang mudah menempel dan dapat menimbulkan penimbunan yang dapat menyumbat pembuluh darah. Akibat adanya penumpukan kolesterol pada pembuluh darah biasanya sering disebut dengan aterosklerosis. Masalah yang dihadapi adalah kurangnya pengetahuan lansia dan kader tentang penyakit kolesterol serta bahaya kadar kolesterol yang tinggi pada lansia. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini melatih kader dan lansia pembuatan minyak kelapa bebas kolesterol. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di posyandu dukuh karangijo, Desa Blimbing, Kecamatan Gatak, Sukoharjo, Jawa tengah. Sasaran dalam kegiatan ini adalah lansia yang memiliki kadar kolesterol total ≥ 200 mg/dl. Lansia yang mengikuti kegiatan ini mayoritas berjenis kelamin perempuan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama bulan Juli 2023. Kegiatan di awali dengan screening pemeriksaan kolesterol total pada lansia, selanjutnya pembuatan minyak rendah kolesterol, lalu aktivitas fisik dengan senam aerobic low impact, dan setelah 2 minggu penggunaan minyak dilakukan post test. Hasil evaluasi yang dilakukan menunjukkan terjadinya penurunan kolesterol total pada lansia. Pada awalnya, hasil 18 responden memiliki kadar kolesterol agak tinggi dan 15 responden memiliki kadar kolesterol yang tinggi. Sedangkan hasil posttest pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol pada lansia menunjukkan 11 responden memiliki kadar kolesterol yang baik, 15 responden memiliki kadar kolesterol agak tinggi dan 7 responden lain memiliki kadar kolesterol tinggi. Saran dari pengabdian masyarakat ini sebaiknya kegiatan ini dilanjutkan oleh kader dalam membantu lansia ataupun penderita kolesterol lainnya supaya dapat melakukan hidup tanpa kolesterol.

Abstract

Based on the Global Food Security Index (GFSI), Indonesia has a score of 60.2 and ranks 63rd out of 113 countries included in the food security program. Household-level food security is a key factor in addressing nutritional problems, particularly among populations that are highly vulnerable to nutritional disorders. This study aimed to examine the relationship between food security and protein intake in Selo District, Boyolali. This study employed an observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 108 samples were selected using simple random sampling. Primary data were collected using the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) questionnaire and a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) through interviewer-administered interviews. Secondary data were obtained from Selo Boyolali Public Health Center records. Data analysis was conducted using correlation analysis. The results showed a significant negative correlation between food security level and protein intake in Selo District, including Tlogolele, Jrakah, and Klakah villages (r = −0.268; p = 0.005). In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between protein intake and nutritional status in the same area (r = 0.191; p = 0.048). In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between food security and protein intake in Selo District, and protein intake also plays an important role in influencing nutritional status.

Abstract

Background: Interactive nutrition education using social media platforms, such as TikTok, has the potential to improve adolescents’ nutritional knowledge. However, evidence regarding its effectiveness on both knowledge and nutritional status is limited to date.Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the effect of TikTok-based nutrition education on nutritional knowledge and nutritional status among adolescents at SMP Batik Surakarta in Indonesia.Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest–posttest control group. The sample consisted of students aged 12–15 years, divided into a treatment group (n = 48) and a control group (n = 48). The treatment group received balanced nutrition education through three TikTok-based educational videos, whereas the control group received education through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Nutritional status was assessed using BMI-for-age (BAZ) and analyzed using the WHO AnthroPlus software. Data normality was tested using the Shapiro–Wilk test, which indicated non-normal distribution; therefore, the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests were applied with a significance level of p < 0.05.Results: Nutritional knowledge significantly increased in the treatment group compared to that in the control group (p<0.05). The mean increase in knowledge score was higher in the TikTok group (mean=16.06) than in the FGD group (mean=3.73). However, no significant difference was found in nutritional status before and after the intervention between the groups (p>0.05).Conclusion: TikTok-based nutrition education effectively improves adolescents nutritional knowledge but does not significantly affect their nutritional status.

Abstract

Household food security is an important factor influencing nutrient intake, including carbohydrate intake as the main source of energy. This study aimed to determine the relationship between household food security and carbohydrate intake among women of reproductive age in Selo District, Boyolali. This research used an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 108 respondents selected using simple random sampling. Household food security was measured using the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS), while carbohydrate intake was assessed using a Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of respondents were classified as food insecure (59.3%), with carbohydrate intake predominantly in the excessive (46.3%) and normal (38.9%) categories. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between household food security and carbohydrate intake (p = 0.030) with a weak negative correlation (r = -0.209). It can be concluded that higher levels of food insecurity are associated with lower carbohydrate intake.
