Abstract

The internalization of the Pancasila Student Profile values represents a strategic step in shaping students’ character in line with the educational transformation promoted by the Merdeka Curriculum. However, challenges such as limited supporting facilities and learning approaches that are less contextual often hinder its implementation. This study aims to analyze teachers’ pedagogical practices in instilling the Pancasila Student Profile values through a local wisdom based approach. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with teachers as the primary subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, in depth interviews, and document analysis, and were thematically analyzed to identify strategies, media, and the impact of integrating local wisdom into learning. Findings reveal that teachers actively utilize local cultural elements, such as mutual cooperation traditions, traditional games, and local legends, as a means of internalizing character values. The local culture based approach not only strengthens students’ understanding of Pancasila values but also enhances active participation and emotional engagement in the learning process. Based on these results, it can be concluded that integrating local wisdom into learning practices significantly contributes to strengthening character education and has the potential as a relevant contextual pedagogical model. The implication is that teachers can adapt local wisdom based approaches to improve the effectiveness of character education across various educational settings.

Abstract

Malang Regency is known as the largest producer of dairy cow milk in East Java. This potential not only impacts the economic sector but can also be leveraged in education. Teachers need to possess professional competencies to optimize this potential as a learning resource. The objective of this community service project is to provide guidance on the production of dairy products as a learning resource for biotechnology, with the aim of enhancing teachers’ professional competencies in applying deep learning through the utilization of Malang Regency’s potential. The community service activities were conducted from October 2025 to April 2026. The partners for these activities were 10 science teachers and 10 biology teachers who are members of the Malang Regency Teachers’ Working Group. The community service activities included presenting instructional materials, hands-on practice in producing dairy products using conventional biotechnology, and analyzing the potential of these products as learning resources. Data collection to evaluate the success of the community service activities utilized a non-test method (self-assessment). The instrument used was a valid and reliable self-assessment form. The results of the community service program showed an increase in teachers’ professional competencies after participating in the activities, with an N-gain score of 0.56 (moderate category) for science teachers and 0.62 (moderate category) for biology teachers. In addition, participants successfully produced biotechnology-based dairy products (yogurt and butter) and conducted an analysis of the potential for utilizing dairy cow milk as a learning resource for biotechnology.

Abstract

Deficiency of fine motor skills in early childhood remains a significant obstacle in building basic independence and early academic readiness. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and develop optimization strategies for the play-based Happy Morning program in intervening in fine motor development in early childhood. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 28 children in group B2 (aged 5–6 years) and the principal and class teachers as key informants. Data were collected through participatory observation of motor activities, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and documentation of children's work portfolios. Data analysis was carried out interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and concluding using multi-perspective triangulation techniques. The results showed that routine implementation of the program through practical life and art activities consistently resulted in significant and consistent improvements in graphomotor skills such as drawing and writing, which progressed from the moderate to very good category, as well as significant strengthening in the aspect of children's daily independence from the good to very good category. The conclusion of the study confirms that structured and sustainable play-based interventions are effective in bridging the psychomotor development gap and accelerating early childhood learning readiness. The implications of the research indicate that the integration of play-based fine motor activities into daily learning routines can be an adaptive pedagogical model that not only improves motor skills aspects, but also strengthens children's independence and early learning readiness holistically.

Abstract

Elementary school students' moral awareness still needs to be strengthened so that character values are not only understood cognitively but also reflected in daily behavior. One cause is the implementation of character education, which is often not fully integrated into learning, school culture, and the family environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Kindness strategy as an integrative model in character education to build students' moral awareness in elementary schools. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design involving principals, teachers, students, and parents who were selected purposively. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies using observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and school documents as research instruments. Data analysis was conducted using coding techniques including open coding, axial coding, and selective coding to generate main themes. The results showed that the implementation of the Kindness strategy took place through the integration of values in learning, habituation in school culture, and reinforcement through role models and collaboration with families. This strategy was able to encourage the internalization of students' moral values through repeated social interactions and a conducive environment. The study concluded that the Kindness strategy is an integrative and contextual character education model in building students' moral awareness. These findings provide implications for the development of more holistic and sustainable character education policies and practices in elementary schools.

Abstract

Public elementary schools are increasingly challenged by shifting parental preferences toward religion-based schools, requiring them to develop distinctive institutional strategies that enhance both educational quality and public trust. This study aims to describe the implementation of practical worship education, analyze its contribution to strengthening school competitiveness, and identify the challenges encountered in its implementation at SD Negeri 1 Wonoketro, Jetis District, Ponorogo Regency. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews with the principal, Islamic Education teachers, homeroom teachers, parents, and students, as well as document analysis. The findings indicate that practical worship education, implemented through the systematic habituation of congregational Dhuha prayer, Dhuhr prayer, Qur'anic recitation, and memorization activities, contributes to strengthening students' character, spiritual competence, parental trust, the school's religious identity, and a conducive learning environment. These outcomes position practical worship not merely as a religious educational activity but also as an institutional strategy that differentiates the school from other public elementary schools and strengthens its competitiveness. The study also identified several implementation challenges, including limited worship facilities, uneven teacher supervision during peak periods, scheduling differences across grade levels, and the need for stronger continuity between school- and home-based worship practices through parental involvement. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating that practical worship can function as an institutional strategy for enhancing school competitiveness through the integration of character formation, parental trust, institutional reputation, and educational quality.

Abstract

Improving learning quality is a priority for every educational institution, including public elementary schools. One approach is school innovation that integrates religious values into learning activities. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the Qur’an reading program at SD Negeri 1 Somoroto, Ponorogo Regency, identify implementation challenges, and analyze the strategies adopted to address them. A descriptive qualitative design was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic education teachers, Qur’an teachers, curriculum coordinator, homeroom teachers, students, and parents. The findings indicate that the program is implemented regularly according to a scheduled morning routine. Its implementation, however, faces several challenges, including limited availability of UMMI-certified teachers, the occasional absence of Qur’an teachers during learning sessions, and unequal student motivation. To overcome these challenges, the school provides mentoring and further training for teachers who have not obtained UMMI certification. Islamic education teachers also redistribute students whose assigned instructors are absent to ensure learning continuity. Students experiencing low motivation receive intensive guidance, although additional assignments may sometimes interfere with regular classroom learning. Overall, the Qur’an reading program contributes positively to students’ reading proficiency, religious habits, discipline, and character development. Sustained teacher development, effective scheduling, and systematic monitoring are required to strengthen program consistency, minimize disruption, and ensure that its benefits are experienced equally by all students.
