Abstract

Classification and Regression Tree (CART) is now commonly used as one of nonparametricclassification methods. The advantage of this method is it can effectively used on data whichhave many independent variables. It is also easy to be interoperated. The aim of this research is to classify Chronic Perodontitis in Dental Hospital of Hang TuahUniversity Surabaya using CART. The Chronic Periodontitis divided into 3 categories: mild, moderate, and heavy. Based on the analysis result, 2 factors can affected the mild type ofchronic periodontitis , 6 factors affected moderate type of chronic periodontitis and 8 factorsaffected the heavy type of chronic periodontitis. The criteria used to count the accuracy of the CART classification is 1-APER. The 1-APERscore shows a very good result which is 92,5% for data learning and 90% for data testing.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Collecting dental data for odontogram in medical records is done chiefly conventionally and causes a lot of human errors. Disadvantages of the conventional method can be overcome by developing a server-based system to store medical information equipped with embedded artificial intelligence (AI), which can identify the patient’s dental condition using an intra-oral camera with the help of Deep Learning algorithms. It is essential to evaluate the usability of this application to adapt to user needs. This study aimed to know the user’s experience in using this application and also provide information for improvements of the application. Methods: This is quantitative descriptive research with 15 users (dentists) as the respondent. The questionnaire was used to measure the user’s experience using this application. The user’s experiences measured are effectivity, efficiency, and satisfaction.  Results: The highest scores of respondents on the three variables are extremely efficient, effective, and satisfied (9 people). The lowest score is slightly efficient and neutral on the efficiency and effectiveness variables (0 people). In the satisfaction variable, the lowest score is slightly satisfied (0 people). Conclusions: The Usability Testing of the “Smart Odontogram” Application based on User’s Experience showed a good result in 3 variables: effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfactionKeywords: smart Odontogram; medical record; application; usability testing; user’s experience

Abstract

Background: The covid-19 pandemic has an impact on many sectors include the education sector. Dental education students are not only given academic knowledge but also need to be trained for their dental practice skills. Various obstacles during covid-19 pandemic require educational institutions to make innovations to maintain the quality of graduates. One of the innovations that can be implemented is blended learning. Blended learning combines online methods for lecture substitution and face-to-face methods for clinical activities on phantoms. The indicator of success of this method is by getting pass in the National Competency Exam for Dentist (UKMP2DG).  Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the blended learning method as a learning innovation during the covid 19 pandemic at the Faculty of Dentistry, Hang Tuah University Surabaya. Methods: This is an observational analytic study by comparing the percentage of UKMP2DG’s passing rates during the period before the covid 19 pandemic (2019) and during the implementation of the blended learning method (2021 and 2022). Data analysed using one-way Anova with an error of 5%. Results: The results of oneway Anova showed p value = 0.120> 0.05. Conclusion: There is no significant difference between the number of UKMP2DG passing rates from 2019, 2021 and 2022 means blended learning method can provide the same number of pass rate as other previous methods.

Abstract

Background: The most common oral soft tissue disease at RSGM Nala Husada is recurrent aphthous stomatitis. RAS is a condition marked by inflammation of the orakl mucosa, which manifests as one or more ulcers that recur over time. RAS can be influenced by various predisposing factors, with stress being a common trigger. Stress refers to the body's reaction to challenges or pressures that lead to uncomfortable feelings, which are perceived differently by each person. Objective: To determine the relationship between stress in patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis at RSGM Nala Husada. Materials and Methods: The population and samples of all RAS patients who visited RSGM Nala Husada were taken by purposive sampling with a total of 100 people. The level of stress experienced by a person measured from the Depresion Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaire which consists of 42 questions. Data on RAS were taken from subjective examination and intra-oral examination. Processing of data using correlation test with Spearman test in SPSS program. Results: The results of the Spearman test are a weak correlation, which can be seen from R= 0.115 (Sig = 0.175.> 0.05). A positive R value means that the relationship is in the same direction. Conclusion: In this study there was no significant relationship between psychological stress in RAS patients at RSGM Nala Husada. Therefore, it is necessary to review further the severity, duration and intensity of stress that can trigger the emergence of RAS and reconsider other predisposing factors related to RAS besides stress.

Abstract

The aging process is a process of slowly disappearing the ability of tissues to repair themselves or replace and maintain their normal functions. Tooth decay, tooth mobility, caries, halitosis, gingivitis, gingival recession, loss of periodontal attachment, and alveolar bone are changes in periodontal tissue that are commonly found in the elderly. If this is not treated, it can cause mobility and loss of teeth which will interfere with the function and activity of the oral cavity and will have an impact on the quality of life. Dental and oral health problems become one of the problems that have negative implications for overall health that in the end, it affects the quality of life in the elderly. Based on this analysis, in implementing the Tridarma of Higher Education, especially community service, the strategy is to increase public access to dental health services. One form of community service that can be carried out is promotive and preventive efforts. This activity is an educational approach to increase the ability and participation of the elderly community in maintaining dental health which can affect a person's quality of life.
