Abstract

Arabic, as the language of the Qur’an, holds a central position in Islamic education, particularly in traditional madrasahs. However, in Madrasah Miftahul Ulum Angsokah Timur, the learning outcomes for Arabic remain far from expectations. Various challenges hinder the success of Arabic language instruction, such as limited instructional hours (only two hours per week), students’ low proficiency, a shortage of qualified Arabic teachers (only two for all classes), and minimal parental support. Additionally, the learning objectives tend to focus merely on filling class schedules rather than fostering meaningful language competence. This study aims to explore and analyze how innovative classroom management strategies can create an engaging and effective learning environment that supports Arabic language achievement. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the implementation of creative strategies—such as using song-based vocabulary instruction (Kamus Hijau), Arabic conversation and song competitions, video documentation uploaded to YouTube, and guided student-generated dialogues—significantly increased student motivation, confidence, and active participation. These strategies helped shift the classroom dynamic from teacher-centered to student-centered learning and encouraged greater language use in authentic contexts. The study contributes practical insights into Arabic language teaching in under-resourced madrasahs and demonstrates that limited resources can be overcome with pedagogical creativity and contextual adaptation. This research fills a gap in the literature by focusing on classroom management innovation in traditional Islamic schools with minimal facilities.

Abstract

Qira’ah learning materials often fail to effectively integrate the values of moderation. Additionally, conventional learning methods sometimes struggle to engage students and promote independent learning. Therefore, there is a need for innovative qira’ah materials that not only focus on Arabic reading skills but also instill the values of moderation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology offers a solution through interactive features, automated feedback, and adaptive learning, which can enrich the learning experience and deepen students’ understanding of moderation values in Arabic texts. This article explored the development of qira’ah learning materials based on moderation, supported by AI technology, at STAI Darul Ulum Banyuanyar Pamekasan. This research employed the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests. The qualitative data analysis technique used was classification analysis, while the quantitative analysis applies the gain score formula: d=T2−T1d = T2 - T1d=T2−T1. The findings indicate that qira’ah learning materials based on moderation, supported by AI, can enhance students' understanding of moderation values and boost their learning motivation. With interactive features, learning becomes more adaptive and responsive to students’ needs, allowing them to study more independently and effectively. This research offered a substantial contribution to the advancement of Arabic language education that integrates both technological innovation and the principles of moderation. It highlighted how AI integration in qira’ah materials can significantly improve learning effectiveness, promote learner autonomy, and embed moderation values in a more profound and contextualized way.

Abstract

Literary works are often created based on an author’s personal experiences or imaginative ideas, which shape the meaning and aesthetic value of the text. However, readers frequently face challenges in understanding the implicit messages conveyed by the author, especially in poetry that combines beauty and depth of meaning. This study aims to analyze Mahmoud Darwish’s poem “Ahinnu Ila Khubzi Ummi” through the lens of genetic structuralism in order to reveal both intrinsic and extrinsic elements that construct its meaning. The research employs a qualitative approach using the library method by collecting and reviewing relevant journals, books, and documents related to genetic structuralism and Darwish’s works. The analysis identifies intrinsic elements such as theme, tone, imagery, and message, which reflect strong emotional and patriotic nuances. Additionally, extrinsic elements, including the author’s social and historical context, reveal the influence of Palestinian identity and resistance on the creation of the poem. The study also notes stylistic features such as repeated words (hyperbole) and certain ambiguous stanzas that require interpretative reading to uncover hidden meanings. The findings demonstrate that the poem is not only an expression of personal longing but also a symbol of national struggle and cultural memory. This research contributes to the field of literary studies by offering an in-depth understanding of how genetic structuralism bridges textual analysis with socio-historical context, particularly in modern Arabic resistance poetry

Abstract

As the Islamic religion has been perfected by Allah SWT, Islam does not only regulate matters of worship and morals and the afterlife but also regulates worldly affairs including how to live socially and as a state. The Republic of Indonesia adopts a presidential system, namely the President as head of state and also as head of government, contained in the 1945 Constitution article 4 paragraph (1). The purpose of this study is to find out and compare how the leader election system in Indonesia is in accordance with Islam which is represented here by the thoughts of Imam Mawardi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library method. The results show that the election and appointment of the Head are regulated in laws and regulations, both regarding administrative requirements and technical requirements. In a situation of political dynamics, it affects the substance of every change in laws and regulations that occur, so that the assumption that states that law is a political product is undeniable. This situation occurs in the legislation that regulates the election of Regional Heads which also experiences changes according to the political interests of the ruler. While the election in Islam in al-Mawardi's perception is by two methods, namely, the election of the head of state by the Ahlu al-hal wa al-aqdi institution or the people's representative council. Then the direct appointment of the head of state first. Then the comparison between the system of electing the head of state between the law and the figure of al-Mawardi is if we look at the times of Indonesia during the old order and the new order, there is relevance to al-Mawardi's view, namely the election of the head of state through representatives and direct appointment by the head of state first.

Abstract

Arabic is one of the official languages recognized by the United Nations and serves as the national language in many countries across West Asia and North Africa. Beyond its political role, Arabic has historically functioned as a language of education, science, and religion. In Indonesia, the teaching of Arabic began with the spread of Islam, positioning it as the language of high prestige among Muslims since it acts as the medium of transmission for Islamic knowledge. Consequently, Arabic has become a priority language within Islamic education, particularly in pesantren and specialized language centers. However, the use of Arabic in non-native environments inevitably leads to variations, both in oral and written forms, as learners adapt the language according to their level of exposure and interaction. This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of linguistic variation in Arabic usage within Markaz Lughah Al-‘Arabiyah, a learning environment where students from diverse backgrounds engage with Arabic in formal and informal contexts. The research employs a qualitative method, utilizing natural settings to interpret the variations in language use, supported by observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that linguistic diversity at the center manifests in code-switching, simplification of grammatical structures, and creative adaptations in oral communication. In writing, learners often exhibit a blend of classical and modern expressions, reflecting both challenges and innovations. The contribution of this study lies in providing insights into how Arabic develops in non-Arabic-speaking contexts, offering implications for Arabic pedagogy, curriculum design, and sociolinguistic studies

Abstract

Writing skill (maharah al-kitabah) is one of the essential competencies in Arabic language learning; however, many students still struggle to master it effectively. This study investigates the writing errors made by students of class VIII.3 at MTsN 2 Makassar, with the primary aim of identifying the types of errors and analyzing the underlying causes behind them. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with an error analysis framework, data were collected through writing tests and semi-structured interviews. The data were then analyzed using techniques of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the majority of students continue to encounter significant difficulties in maharah al-kitabah. The types of errors most frequently observed include: improper spacing between words, confusion between similar-looking Arabic letters, misuse of punctuation, incorrect application of tasydid, and the omission or addition of letters within words. Furthermore, the causes of these errors can be classified into internal and external factors. Internal factors consist of limited writing practice, lack of concentration, hurried writing, restricted reading habits, insufficient understanding of Arabic grammar, and a limited vocabulary range. Meanwhile, external factors are associated with the teaching methods used, the broader learning environment, and the influence of parental support. This study contributes to the field of Arabic language education by providing an in-depth understanding of the error patterns in students’ writing. It also emphasizes the need for more targeted instructional strategies, greater emphasis on writing practice, and supportive learning environments to improve maharah al-kitabah among learners.

Abstract

The development of the Hiwaruna textbook was initiated as a response to the dual challenge of linguistic complexity and economic limitation faced by ibtida’ students at Darul Lugha wal Qur’an Palengaan Daja, Pamekasan. The existing textbook, Muhawarah Juz 1, was found to be linguistically demanding and economically inaccessible, creating disparities in students’ learning engagement. This study aims to design and develop a more affordable yet pedagogically sound alternative to support equitable Arabic kalam learning. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), data were collected through classroom observation, teacher interviews, expert validation, and student feedback. The Hiwaruna textbook was designed to suit students’ proficiency levels, incorporating contextual themes, simplified vocabulary, visual aids, and pronunciation guides, while being printed locally at a cost 80% lower than commercial materials. The implementation demonstrated significant improvements in student motivation, comprehension, and speaking ability. Furthermore, teachers reported that Hiwaruna facilitated more interactive and inclusive classroom communication. The findings suggest that pedagogical innovation rooted in local economic awareness can enhance accessibility without compromising educational quality, offering a sustainable model for Arabic language instruction in resource-limited contexts
