Abstract

This research aims to develop a three-tier diagnostic test instrument to identify misconceptions in fluid physics among grade XI students at SMAN 2 Medan. Misconceptions are a persistent barrier in learning physics and require specific instruments for accurate identification. The developed instrument includes multiple-choice questions (first tier), reasoning options (second tier), and confidence levels (third tier) to assess students' conceptual understanding comprehensively. Using the 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) development model, the instrument underwent validation by experts, small-scale, and large-scale trials. The results indicated that the diagnostic test instrument is valid and reliable, effectively identifying students' misconceptions in fluid concepts such as hydrostatic pressure, Archimedes' principle, Pascal's law, and Bernoulli's principle. This instrument not only aids teachers in recognizing areas that need instructional emphasis but also contributes to improving learning strategies. The findings revealed a significant portion of students experienced misconceptions, highlighting the need for targeted pedagogical interventions. This study contributes to physics education by offering a practical diagnostic tool to improve conceptual learning and reduce misconceptions.

Abstract

After inquiry learning research is carried out, it is necessary to investigate problems and find problems based on clear concepts based on observations. Creativity is the ability to create something new. The proposed activities are based on physical phenomena through experiments. Prior knowledge of a problem may detract from an investigation, as it may prefer to retain known evidence rather than devise new alternatives. Creativity is the ability to think to come up with solutions, ideas, ways, products as solutions to existing problems. Innovative is the process of doing something in a new way. The process skills of discovering and developing concepts, theories, legal principles and facts are science process skills (KPS). Based on investigations and problem findings, creative inquiry learning with a process skills approach is used. The method in this research is analysis of indicators of inquiry learning syntax (problem formulation, hypothesis formulation, data collection, hypothesis testing and conclusions), creativity (KE experimental group and KK control group) and science process skills (KE and KK). The concepts developed mutually support inquiry, creativity and process skills. Students' ability to investigate and find problems can be realized.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on K-175 concrete with a mixture of snakefruit bark ash with the aim of determining the effect of snakefruit bark ash on the mechanical properties of K-175 concrete. The test object used was a cube measuring 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm with standardization SNI-7394-2008 with quality K-175 with a cement ratio of 1: 2.3: 3.1 with FAS 0.6. The mechanical properties testing carried out was compressive strength testing and determining the crystal structure and filler phases of the concrete after soaking for 28 days and drying for 24 hours. Based on the research results with a mixture of snake fruit ash (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4%) the average compressive strength test results were 18.11 Mpa, 17.21 MPa, 17.02 MPa, 20, respectively. 23 MPa, and 16.80 Mpa. Where the test is carried out after the concrete is 28 days old. From the results of the compressive strength test, the concrete experienced an insignificant decrease in compressive strength with each addition of snakefruit bark ash, but the compressive strength increased with the percentage of snakefruit bark ash (2%). The maximum compressive strength result with a mixture of snakefruit bark ash was 20.23 Mpa. Based on the test results and X-Ray Diffraction analysis results, it shows that the concrete samples containing silica are mostly amorphous, it can be seen in the graphic image that there is only a very small amount of X-ray diffraction which has sharp and angular peaks, this shows that the crystalline content is getting smaller thus most of the contained in the sample is amorphous.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Sevima Edlink's e-learning-assisted guided inquiry model on high school students™ physics learning outcomes in sound wave material. This research is a type of quasi-experimental research with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all XI MIPA classes at Masehi High School, GBKP Berastagi T.P 2022/2023 and the samples in this study were class XI MIPA 2 (experimental class) and XI MIPA 1 (control class) which were taken by cluster random sampling. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test with 15 questions. The results showed that the average pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class were 36.23 and 80.89. While in the control class were 34.86 and 75.63. Data analysis was carried out by t-test with a significant level of α = 0.05, it was found that tcalculated < ttable = (2.286 > 1.669) then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means that there is a significant influence of the guided inquiry model assisted by the e-learning sevima edlink on learning outcomes students in class XI SMA Swasta Massehi GBKP Berastagi on sound waves material.

Abstract

This study developed digital teaching materials based on the Case Method for the General Physics subject in the Bilingual Physics Education Program, Universitas Negeri Medan, using the ADDIE development model. The novelty of this approach lies in positioning authentic context-based cases as the core structural framework for presenting theoretical physics concepts, rather than using cases merely as supplementary learning activities. Expert validation yielded excellent ratings from both the design expert (M = 4.54, SD = 0.267) and the material expert (M = 4.70, SD = 0.173), confirming product feasibility. A quasi-experimental study involving 50 students (25 experimental, 25 control) demonstrated a statistically significant difference in post-test scores between groups (t = 6.698, df = 48, p = .000), with the experimental group achieving a mean gain of 20.00 points compared to 11.60 in the control group (N-gain = 0.60, moderate category). Student response questionnaires revealed very positive responses across all dimensions (87.5%–88.5%). A Pearson correlation analysis confirmed a strong positive relationship (r = 0.72, p < .05) between student responses to the digital teaching materials and their learning outcomes. These findings confirm that Case Method-based digital teaching materials significantly and effectively improve student learning outcomes in the General Physics course. Pedagogically, these findings suggest that embedding structured case-based scenarios into interactive digital platforms effectively bridges abstract physics principles and real-world problem-solving, providing a scalable blueprint for integrating digital technologies and outcome-based learning frameworks at the university level.
