Abstract

Collaboration skills are vital for 21st-century success, particularly as advancements reshape various aspects of life. At SMK N 1 Kedawung, The Basics of Plant Agribusiness, a subject for tenth graders, emphasizes cultivating these skills. This study investigates the effects of different learning models-discovery learning and project-based learning (PjBL)-on enhancing vocational students' collaboration skills. Conducted using classroom action research with a qualitative descriptive approach, the study spanned five cycles. The findings reveal that both models significantly improve collaboration skills. Discovery learning fosters inquiry and problem-solving through active exploration, gradually enhancing teamwork and critical thinking. In contrast, PjBL centers on collaborative, real-world projects, promoting hands-on engagement and deeper learning. Quantitative results show that collaboration skills improved in all cycles, with PjBL demonstrating a more pronounced effect. Discovery learning yielded consistent yet gradual improvements over three cycles. However, PjBL facilitated quicker and more substantial progress within two cycles, underscoring its effectiveness in fostering teamwork, participation, and practical knowledge application. In conclusion, both methods positively influence collaboration skills, with PjBL offering superior outcomes. Its practical, engaging approach makes it particularly effective for vocational training, addressing the demands of 21st-century education. PjBL is thus recommended for optimal skill development.

Abstract

The need for digital innovation in the educational paradigm is increasingly clear after the Covid-19 phenomenon. This has also been strengthened by government policies in responding to this need, by launching “kurikulum merdeka” that demands the use of “merdeka mengajar” platform with all its characteristics. The concept of digital learning with a variety of devices is offered. SMP Islam Al Azhar 21 Solo Baru has implemented a program that is quite progressive in an effort to find an education digitalization system. It is in the form of digital class services, which can be used as an option for students and parents to carry out all digital-based and e-learning activities. Furthermore, the digital system used is relatively new and not many are used in Indonesia. The use of iPad 1:1 (every 1 student uses 1 iPad) as the main device with various Apple for education applications integrated in it. Regarding to this implementation, there is an interest from the researcher for further research related to its implementation. This type of research is descriptive qualitative which reports on how the school’s role in implementing iPad and its functions and contributions to classroom learning. The description regarding this matter was developed based on the results of semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations to see how this implementation could be carried out. Student group interviews were also used to support the findings. The result is an overview of the iPad-based digital classroom implementation starting from the initial ideas, the stages and steps of implementation, the perceptions of students and teachers, and the evaluation of those implementation. On the other hand, the main challenge lies in the relatively high budget requirements, and parents' doubts about the bad consequences of excessive iPad use, both in terms of health and social behavior

Abstract

Despite the growing emphasis on formal classroom settings, the learning experiences of students outside the classroom, particularly in biology education, remain underexplored. This research seeks to bridge this gap by unveiling the perspectives of both students and teachers regarding their biology learning experiences. Conducted with senior high school participants in Indonesia, this qualitative study employs purposive sampling to gather data through semi-structured interviews with three biology teachers and seven students. Thematic analysis of the collected data reveals the multifaceted nature of biology instruction, highlighting challenges, achievements, and the potential for pedagogical improvement. The findings suggest that while there are several strengths in current teaching methods, significant opportunities exist to enhance the learning experience by incorporating additional activities beyond the classroom. In particular, the study underscores the need for fostering more immersive and holistic educational environments that can cater to diverse learning styles. This research contributes valuable insights for educators and policymakers, advocating for innovative strategies that extend beyond traditional educational boundaries and stimulate a more dynamic, engaging biology curriculum. The study’s implications call for a reevaluation of current educational practices, aiming to create more inclusive and enriching learning experiences for senior high school students.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education is a top priority. However, the current problem is that many schools still need to pay more attention to the quality of education. Based on this, this research aims to analyze the influence of school supervisors in improving the quality of education through the school accreditation process. The approach applied in this research is qualitative, while the data collection technique used combines qualitative and quantitative. The subjects of this research were 40 people (20 teachers and 20 education service staff). The methods used to collect data are document study, observation, and interviews. The instrument used in data collection was a questionnaire sheet. Quantitative data analysis techniques are applied to analyze the quality of school supervisors' performance, including three stages: data condensation, data display, and (3) Conclusion/verification. Quantitative Data Processing is carried out by providing questionnaire instruments and the urgency of handling each variable. The results of this research conclude that there is a gap in the role of school supervisors. This indicates that the school supervisor needs to be more optimal in carrying out his role as a supervisor. To overcome the gap in the role of school supervisors there are several efforts to eliminate the gap that occurs between education staff and teachers regarding the role of school supervisors, including increasing supervision and coaching, strengthening effective communication and collaboration, providing adequate support, developing the skills of school supervisors, and conducting evaluations and continuous improvement.

Abstract

A good learning process is ideally able to follow the existing social dynamics, so there is a need for development in learning management. The initial exploration needed for teachers and students is the condition of ICT information systems in learning, the designed ICT systems development based on independent learning, and the quality of student learning outcomes reports. This research aims to develop an ICT information system for independent learning-based learning. This development had carried out to improve the quality of student learning outcomes reports. The research method is research and development (RD), which is a research method of developing web-based online learning management and testing the effectiveness of products. The research was conducted in Vocational High Schools. The subjects under study are teachers and students. Data collection uses observation, interview, and documentation methods. Based on the results of the study, it is known that this research develops media that can manage learning for teachers and students. Learning is managed online on a website, which includes teacher learning tools and student assignments. Learning tools that are managed for teachers include student attendance, lesson schedules, lesson materials, assignments and homework, practice questions, and midterm and end-of-semester questions. The learning tools that students can access in online learning management include subject matter, assignments, homework, practice questions, and midterm and end-of-semester questions. This application is not a medium for learning, but a medium used to support learning activities in the classroom, both online and outside the network.
