Abstract

Purpose: This study examines code-mixing in YouTube content created by Indonesian YouTubers Jesselyn Lauwreen, Gita Savitri Devi, and Sandy Kristian Waluyo, focusing on the types and motivations behind their language use. Methodology: Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the research uses content analysis to collect and categorize instances of code-mixing. Data collection began with selecting and transcribing relevant videos to capture spoken content, which was then organized into tables for analysis. Code-mixing was categorized into three types: insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. Results: The reasons for code-mixing were analyzed, including discussing specific topics, quoting, showing emphasis, and expressing group identity. Applications/Originality/Value: The findings reveal that insertion is the most frequent type of code-mixing across all three YouTubers, followed by alternation and congruent lexicalization. The primary reason for code-mixing was talking about a particular topic, with expressing group identity also being significant.

Abstract

Purpose: In order to better understand how special sports schools in Surakarta implement learning management at the junior high school level, this study concentrates on three key areas: (1) learning planning; (2) classroom/field learning implementation; and (3) evaluation implementation. Methodology: The method used in this study is qualitative. Observations, interviews, and documentation are some of the methods used to gather data. Results: The analysis results show that the learning management carried out by the school includes four stages, namely (1) learning planning, (2) implementation of learning in the classroom/field, and (3) evaluation implementation. In principle, the school has implemented that management. The implementation of lesson planning, from creating mapping to making lesson plans, has been carried out even though only photocopies made by the subject teacher working group (MGMP) were used. The implementation of learning has also been going well, although the teachers still haven't been able to make the best use of their time. In conducting evaluations, many teachers still focus on evaluating outcomes rather than the evaluation process, so these evaluations tend to measure achievements rather than the success of the learning implementation. Applications/Originality/Value: The suggestions that can be given are: the principal should require teachers to write their lesson plans by hand, the school should, if necessary, reward teachers who diligently carry out their duties, and for the teachers, it is hoped that they will always adhere to all established rules so that they can enjoy their duties more.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore effective strategies for implementing character education in the digital era by focusing on the roles of schools, parents, and students. It addresses the evolving challenges faced by parents as primary educators in shaping student character amidst rapid technological advancement. Methodology: The research adopts a qualitative case study approach and is supplemented by a questionnaire to gather data. It captures the general understanding and perspectives of parents and students regarding character education in the digital context. Results: The findings show that parents possess a high level of awareness and commitment to digital character education for high school students. Many parents understand their responsibilities and view technology positively as a supporting tool. Nevertheless, issues such as inconsistent digital supervision and varying levels of parental involvement present ongoing challenges. Some parents attempt to manage this by setting rules and limiting gadget use at home. Applications/Originality/Value: This study highlights the critical role of collaboration between schools and parents in promoting digital character education. It emphasizes that active parental involvement not only supports students' academic performance but also contributes to their social-emotional development. The insights offered may inform the development of structured programs to enhance parent-school cooperation, although the study's findings are subject to the limitations inherent in self-reported data.
