Abstract

This research aims to analyze the comparison of the concept of the operational system of Islamic Social Financial Institutions such as the Micro Waqf Bank, Baznas Microfinance Village, and Infak Bank. The research method uses qualitative Conceptual Comparison Method. Data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. The results showed that the system concepts of three Indonesian Islamic social financial institutions are purely social from the aspects of status as a social institution, funding, financing, and distribution, and have many operational system similarities. However, there are differences in the sources of capital in the form of alms, zakat, waqf, general donations, and CSR which have become the responsibility of the company. In terms of type, the three institutions are classified as ethical banks or non-bank Islamic ethical financial institutions because they emphasize the purpose of their activities on outcomes and impact rather than profit at all. In terms of the cash waqf theory of capital resilience, the three institutions are less efficient from the aspect of business sustainability, because the amount is at risk of decreasing and will always depend on donations, where the funds are channeled to poor businesses that are at risk of inability to repay loans. The researcher recommends a commercial social financial institution model that is commercial in seeking profit, but social in profit distribution

Abstract

The study aims to find out a general description of mustahiks of old-age insurance program from National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Tanah Datar Regency and to analyse the legal status of the program from Islamic law perspective. The old-age insurance program is distribution of consumptive zakat permanently throughout life for the elderly. The researcher used a survey method. The results showed that the old-age insurance program is directed to meet the basic needs of elderly mustahiks. The characteristics of the elderly mustahiks are as follows: 90% are women, 45% are classified as the old-old, 50% have never attended school, 60% are sick, 85% are non-potential elderly people, 55% live in unworthy shelter, 65% live alone, before receiving zakat 80% meet their needs with the help of others, 80% have no income other than zakat. These facts support that the consumptive zakat for the elderly must be continued, because it greatly helps elderly welfare. Although there is no specific argument regarding zakat for the elderly, it doesn’t contradict the provisions of Islamic law. If the Caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, and 'Ali decided on a policy of providing compensation for non-Muslim elderly from Baitul Mâl, for Muslim elderly ofcourse even more important.

Abstract

This study examines energy waqf as an innovative Islamic philanthropic approach to addressing the growing environmental crisis. Using a literature review methodology, the research explores how religious beliefs, cultural values, and institutional trust influence community acceptance and participation in energy waqf initiatives. The findings reveal that strong religious commitment and cultural norms significantly motivate individuals to engage in such projects, which are widely perceived as acts of environmental stewardship and community service. Additional drivers of participation include emotional and psychological factors, awareness of waqf benefits, and confidence in the credibility of managing institutions. The study highlights the importance of public education and transparent governance in strengthening community involvement and ensuring the sustainability of energy waqf programs. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers, religious leaders, and development practitioners aiming to promote climate action through Islamic social finance. Energy waqf emerges not only as a philanthropic tool rooted in Islamic principles but also as a viable strategy for advancing renewable energy adoption and fostering environmentally conscious communities.

Abstract

Background. Method. Results. Conclusion.

Abstract

Abstract: The study aims to explain the pattern and legal perspective of the practice of agricultural land use cooperation during the planting break in Jorong Mandahiling, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. This research uses a case study method which is analyzed qualitatively. The research subjects consisted of 21 land owners and 21 land cultivators. The results showed that there are three patterns of land use cooperation during the planting break in Jorong Mandahiling. Based on three patterns of cooperation, there are three types of contracts that apply from the point of view of sharia economic law, namely: first, leasing on land (kirā’ al-ardh); second, profit sharing system (mudhārabah); and third, combination of profit sharing system and joint venture (mudhārabah musytarakah) with a profit sharing system which does not fulfill the principle of fairness in transactions. Viewed from the perspective of sharia economic law and existing legal-formal, the practice of profit sharing in land use cooperation during the planting break is not fully in accordance with existing provisions, especially in the principle of fairness in transactions, because, two of the three contracts that are practiced are more profitable for land owners and unfair for culvtivators.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Islamic philanthropic instruments, zakat, waqf, and sadaqah in strengthening disaster management systems in Indonesia and Japan. Employing a library research method through systematic review and comparative analysis, the research draws on scholarly literature, institutional reports, and policy documents to assess potential integration. It finds that in Indonesia, these mechanisms offer vital resources for rapid response and recovery but face challenges related to regulatory coordination and organizational capacity. In Japan, the ethical principles underlying Islamic philanthropy resonate with existing cultural values of solidarity, presenting an opportunity to enhance community resilience models. The study concludes that strategic, context-sensitive collaboration between philanthropic organizations, government agencies, and local communities is essential to leverage these tools effectively. Such partnerships can significantly contribute to building more adaptive, inclusive, and resilient disaster management frameworks in both socio-religious contexts.
