Abstract

Research aims: This study analyzes the role of Sharia venture capital in enhancing the growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of MSMEs in Indonesia, while mapping global trends, thematic clusters, challenges, and opportunities in Sharia-based venture financing. Design/Methodology/Approach: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA protocol is combined with bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer. Publications from 2020–2024 indexed in Scopus were screened with defined criteria, and keyword co-occurrence mapping was conducted to identify thematic structures and research directions. Research findings: Six thematic clusters emerged: financing mechanisms, macroeconomic dynamics, technological innovation, governance and risk, entrepreneurship, and global market integration. Sharia venture capital strengthens MSME financing access, innovation, and ethical economic development, though challenges persist in literacy, collaboration, and regulatory support. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The study fills a literature gap by integrating Islamic ethical principles with modern venture financing and offering a conceptual understanding of Sharia risk-sharing models in MSME empowerment. Practitioners/Policy Implications: Findings highlight the need for stronger regulation, investor education, institutional collaboration, digital transformation, and MSME capacity building. Research Limitations/Implications: Limitations stem from reliance on secondary data and database scope. Future research should assess empirical impacts, digital Sharia VC models, and governance mechanisms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the concept of economic jurisprudence and Islamic banking practices in Indonesia. Economic jurisprudence, as part of Islamic teachings, emphasizes the principles of justice, benefit, and honesty in economic activities, which serve as the normative basis for Islamic financial management. With the rapid development of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia, it is important to examine the extent to which the principles of economic jurisprudence have been consistently implemented in the operations of Islamic financial institutions. This study used a literature study method (library research) by analyzing various sources, such as books on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh muamalah), scientific journals, fatwas from the National Sharia Council (DSN-MUI), and regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The results of the study indicate that Islamic banking in Indonesia has implemented the principles of economic jurisprudence through contracts such as mudharabah, musyarakah, murabahah, and ijarah. However, challenges remain in the form of low public literacy and the need to align the theoretical concepts of economic jurisprudence with modern financial practices. Therefore, strengthening the understanding and application of the values of Islamic economic jurisprudence is necessary to ensure the sustainability and integrity of the Islamic banking system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Culture-based waqf fundraising is a strategic approach that utilizes a community’s cultural, religious, and social values to support waqf institutions. In Indonesia, local traditions such as Badoncek and Jimpitan reflect communal solidarity and can serve as effective mechanisms for waqf fundraising. This study highlights the importance of integrating local cultural practices to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability, and socio-economic impact of waqf in contemporary society. Using a qualitative, thematic analysis, the research draws on interviews with government officials, waqf practitioners, and academics to examine the opportunities and risks of culture-based waqf fundraising. The findings reveal that Badoncek and Jimpitan’s practices present significant opportunities and challenges when applied to waqf fundraising. They enable rapid fund collection, strengthen social cohesion, and maintain community engagement due to their deep-rooted cultural values and ongoing preservation. However, potential risks include limited scalability, a lack of standardized management, and dependency on local participation. Incorporating cultural elements into waqf fundraising can enhance trust, credibility, and long-term community commitment by respecting local traditions and values. They also raise public awareness about the importance and social impact of waqf. Therefore, integrating local culture, such as Badoncek and Jimpitan, into waqf fundraising strategies can strengthen community-based economic empowerment and sustain waqf institutions.
