Abstract

Science instruction is required to be able to develop critical thinking skills and solve various authentic problems. However, based on the preliminary study results, the science learning process does not emphasize the development of critical thinking skills. Therefore, this study aims to produce appropriate POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) based authentic instructional package that are valid, practical, and effective to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research is educational development research using Tessmers' development model, which includes self-evaluation, expert test, individual test, small group test, and field test. The subjects of the research trial were eight students of class VIIIE and 29 students of class VIIIF of SMPN 33 Banjarmasin. The research data were obtained by expert testing on assessment using validation instruments, observations on practicality assessment using RPP implementation instruments, and tests on effectiveness assessment using critical LP instruments. The results of the data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively and the results obtained that the learning tools were categorized as very valid, practical, and effective. Therefore, a POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) based authentic problem instructional package is feasible to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on science learning using the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to analyze the implementation, student responses, supporting factors and inhibiting factors of the Merdeka Curriculum in science learning at SMP Negeri 4 Hulu Sunga Tengah. The type of research used in this study is a qualitative research with descriptive qualitative methods. The instruments used in this study were interview guides, observation sheets and documentation records. The research results show that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in science learning at SMP Negeri 4 Hulu Sungai Tengah is still in the adaptation stage by teachers and students. Student responses were positive towards science learning with the Merdeka Curriculum. Supporting factors for implementing the Merdeka Curriculum are teachers who are competent in using technology, teacher self-motivation, independence in training and learning communities, more contextual learning concepts, and the application of PMM. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are that teachers still lack understanding in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, especially P5, busy teaching schedules, additional teacher duties, and conceptual errors in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The diversity of learning needs of students needs to be accommodated in learning. In addition, Indonesia's scientific literacy ability is still relatively low due to low interest or motivation to learn. Therefore, this study aims to describe the improvement of students' scientific literacy skills through independent differentiated instruction. This study used a pre-experimental type experimental method  with a one-group pretest posttest design. The research sample was conducted by non-probability sampling using a type of purposive sampling. The subjects of this study were 33 students of class VII C SMP Negeri 7 Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques use test instruments, response questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses t-test and N-gain test. The results showed that there was an increase in students' scientific literacy skills through the implementation of independent differentiated instruction which was shown by the results of the t sig test (0.000) < α = 0.05 with a large increase of 0.71 or 71.33% in the high category.

Abstract

Developing learning tools based on local potential is necessary because it directly relates to students' daily lives. One of them is a Popular Science Book (PSB), which highlights the potential of gastropods in coastal areas as a subject for observing biodiversity. The implementation of assessments and the value of students' critical thinking abilities still need to be improved. This research aimed to implement the PSB based on its practicality and effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking abilities. The research method used formative evaluation, focused on testing the practicality and efficacy of valid development products. Practicality was analysed based on student response tests through the percentage of responses and the implementation of the learning plan (LP) through categorization. Furthermore, effectiveness was analysed based on student learning outcomes through the percentage of completeness and achievement of critical thinking ability indicators through the N-gain test. The research results prove that the PSB developed was practical and effective. Apperception and interpretation were two of the three stages of implementation of the LP that received the highest average, where students could provide theoretical ideas based on appreciation of environmental issues. This was also supported by the student's critical thinking ability tests, where the interpretation aspect obtained the highest N-gain. The development of local potential-based PSB shows positive impacts, especially ease of use, interest in learning, motivation, apperception, and interpretation. However, it is still necessary to study in more depth the causal factors and solutions for the differences in results between the implementation of the LP at the conclusion stage and the indicators of critical thinking in the inference aspect.

Abstract

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is a wedge between Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Knowledge, namely knowledge about the material being taught and how to teach it. The teacher's ability to understand the material and manage learning greatly determines the improvement of the quality of learning in the classroom in realizing meaningful learning for students. This study aims to describe the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) for science teachers at the Global Islamic Boarding School Middle School (GIBS) regarding the classification of living things. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers can balance between two competencies, namely knowledge of material classification of living things and how to teach it using 7 aspects of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), namely Content Knowledge, Knowledge of Specific Context, Knowledge of Learners and Learning, Pedagogical Knowledge, Curriculum Knowledge, Knowledge of General Education Context, Assessment Procedures, Evaluation of Outcomes – Educational Ends, Goals, Purposes, and Values.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah mendeskripsikan literasi aspek pengetahuan lingkungan lahan basah siswa SD. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis deskripsi, mengeksplorasi level pemahaman lahan basah siswa dan karakterstik materi dari sudut pandang siswa. Instrumen berupa soal dan angket opini pengetahuan lingkungan, dikembangakan dari rumusan NAEE dan PISA. Pembahasan disajikan secara deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan dari data kuantitatif berupa test dan wawancara. Subjek adalah siswa di SD adiwiyata kota Banjarmasin dan sekitarnya berjumlah 60 orang. Teknik pemilihan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling dengan mempertimbangkan karakteristik tempat tinggal guru dan siswa, kurikulum adiwiyata dan tujuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian ditemukan siswa SD cenderung memiliki kemampuan literasi lingkungan lahan basah siswa pada kategori baik. Skor reratanya mencapai 75,35. Pemicunya siswa didaerah banjarmasin kehidupan sangat bersentuhan dengan alam, baik flora dan fauna sehingga siswa dapat mengetahui dan merasakan langsung. Indikator literasi yang paling dikuasi siswa adalah tentang flora dan fauna, masuk pada kategori sangat baik dengan skor 85,43. Poin ini dikuasai dengan baik karena didukung oleh pengajaran  program PLH dan adiwiyata. Indikator lain yang masih kurang disebabkan belum optimalnya studi lapangan atau observasi langsung ke lahan basah.

Abstract

Perkembangan situasi dan kondisi teknologi saat ini sangatlah dinamis sekali, setiap individu banyak menggunakan gadget dan internet dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendidikan Abad 21 adalah pendidikan yang menekankan pada keterampilan dan keterampilan yang mendalam, tidak lepas dari keterlibatan teknologi, serta interaksi langsung dengan kebudayaan dan kultur masyarakat sekitar. Abstract

Integrasi etnosains dengan teknologi modern perlu dikaji sebagai solusi untuk pelestarian budaya dan pengembangan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Di tengah kemajuan teknologi yang pesat, pengetahuan tradisional dan kearifan lokal sering kali terpinggirkan dan berisiko hilang jika tidak ada upaya serius untuk mendokumentasikan dan menyebarluaskannya. Masalah ini mendorong upaya untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana etnosains dapat disajikan dalam konteks modern, serta bagaimana teknologi bisa digunakan untuk mendukung pelestarian budaya. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai efektivitas pendekatan yang menggabungkan etnosains dengan teknologi dalam pendidikan dan pengabdian masyarakat, serta untuk mengidentifikasi peluang penelitian dan tindakan tindak lanjut yang relevan. Berdasarkan hasil pencarian dengan kata kunci "etnosains" pada masa "teknologi modern" di Google Scholar, ditemukan 46 dokumen dengan sepuluh diantaranya adalah publikasi terkait. Penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa integrasi etnosains dalam kurikulum dan metode pengajaran berbasis teknologi dapat memperkaya pengalaman belajar siswa dan meningkatkan apresiasi mereka terhadap budaya lokal. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa teknik-teknik inovatif, seperti penggunaan media berbasis etnosains, dapat memperkuat pengabdian masyarakat dan mendukung pelestarian budaya bersamaan dengan meningkatkan kualitas hidup komunitas. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi etnosains dengan teknologi modern memberikan manfaat dalam melestarikan budaya serta berdampak positif pada pendidikan dan pengembangan masyarakat secara praktis.
