Abstract

Gastropods are widespread in the coastal area, one of which is the coast of Pulau Sembilan Kotabaru. This area is still relatively natural, and there are coral reefs. Some points of coral reefs began to suffer damage. Reefs and rocks in the eulittoral zone are natural gastropod habitats. Gastropods are divided into three orders, two of which are mesogastropod orders, and the neogastropod order has not been documented. This study aims to continue the documentation of gastropod species (Mesogastropods and Neogastropods) and analyze their diversity index. Data were collected by purposive sampling technique with a plot area of 1 m2, as many as 20 plots, along a hundred meters following the coastline. The data collected is the name of the species and the number of individuals in each species. Based on these data the diversity index is determined using the Shannon-Wiener equation. Five species of the mesogastropod order and two species of the neogastropod order were found. The Mesogastropod and Neogastropod diversity index (H') is 1,620 in the medium category, meaning that the ecosystem in the region is classified as stable.

Abstract

Coastal areas gather various forms of ecosystems, including coastal forests adjacent to coastal eulitoral zones, swamp water bodies, rivers, and estuaries. The coastal forest of Tabanio Village is a traditional area that has been guarded for generations, in which various types of stands grow, including lontar plants. But the documentation of lontar plants has not been done, while the coastal area began to be developed into tourist attractions. This study aims to document the density of lontar plants in the coastal forests of Tabanio Village, as supporting ecotourism data. Data were collected with a total roaming, with an area size of 800 m x 2,500 m. Data collected are morphology and number of individuals. Morphological analysis is done descriptively, while density analysis is done descriptively quantitative, and is associated with environmental factors. Lontar plants were found with a total of 27 individuals, and the density value is 0.135 per hectare. The main limiting factor for the lack of lontar populations in the region is the high soil moisture compared to previous studies in different places.

Abstract

Competition in the field of education globally is increasingly competitive, but it has not been directly proportional to the development of education in several regions in Indonesia. Students still have difficulty in critical thinking, including the concept of classification of living things, because the teaching materials used are not fully related to the experience and environment of students. This study aims to develop teaching materials for the concept of classification of living things based on local potential. The development is carried out using Tessmer's formative model which includes five stages; 1) self-evaluation (self-evaluation); 2) expert opinion (expert review); 3) Individual trial (one to one); 4) small group trial; and 5) field test. The results showed that by developing a prototype of contextual teaching materials based on local advantages, it was able to increase students' interest, activity, and thinking skills which could be measured by increasing their learning outcomes. Abstract

Developing learning tools based on local potential is necessary because it directly relates to students' daily lives. One of them is a Popular Science Book (PSB), which highlights the potential of gastropods in coastal areas as a subject for observing biodiversity. The implementation of assessments and the value of students' critical thinking abilities still need to be improved. This research aimed to implement the PSB based on its practicality and effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking abilities. The research method used formative evaluation, focused on testing the practicality and efficacy of valid development products. Practicality was analysed based on student response tests through the percentage of responses and the implementation of the learning plan (LP) through categorization. Furthermore, effectiveness was analysed based on student learning outcomes through the percentage of completeness and achievement of critical thinking ability indicators through the N-gain test. The research results prove that the PSB developed was practical and effective. Apperception and interpretation were two of the three stages of implementation of the LP that received the highest average, where students could provide theoretical ideas based on appreciation of environmental issues. This was also supported by the student's critical thinking ability tests, where the interpretation aspect obtained the highest N-gain. The development of local potential-based PSB shows positive impacts, especially ease of use, interest in learning, motivation, apperception, and interpretation. However, it is still necessary to study in more depth the causal factors and solutions for the differences in results between the implementation of the LP at the conclusion stage and the indicators of critical thinking in the inference aspect.

Abstract

The importance of environmental literacy as a supporting factor for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education). Improving environmental literacy among students is necessary to be able to face global challenges such as climate change and environmental degradation. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which environmental literacy supports quality education related to sustainability issues through a literature review of scientific articles published in national journals. The research method involved a literature search using the keyword “literasi lingkungan” on Google Scholar, with article selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Out of 2280 articles, the 10 most relevant articles were selected for analysis. The results showed that problem-based and experiential learning approaches proved effective in improving students' environmental knowledge and awareness, although cognitive abilities still need to be improved. Improved environmental literacy is also very important in shaping environmentally responsible behavior, which supports the achievement of other SDGs such as SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water), and 15 (Life on Land). The findings of this study emphasize the need for more strategic and effective programs to improve environmental literacy at the education level and its more focused analysis on achieving the SDGs targets. Keywords: Environmental literacy, sustainable development goals, education, attitude. Pentingnya literasi lingkungan sebagai faktor pendukung pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), khususnya SDG 4 (Pendidikan Bermutu).
