Abstract

. Literacy improvement training in both reading and arithmetic with educational games for children in the Tamo Dhua neighborhood, Majene Regency, will be held in June - July 2023. The activity begins with initial observations to find out real data on the literacy skills of children in the Tamo Dhua neighborhood, Majene Regency, then holding numeracy training with educational games, reading training with educational games as well as providing an evaluation in the form of a rating of 1 to determine the ability of participants after being given training. The results obtained are that children are enthusiastic and active in receiving the material provided. Children who initially could not recognize letters and numbers, after attending the training were able to recognize letters and numbers and some even could read or count.

Abstract

Kabupaten, Sumatera Barat.

Abstract

Waste management problems in schools remain a challenge in fostering environmental awareness. The low level of students’ discipline in disposing and sorting waste encouraged the implementation of the GEMAS (Generasi Menolak Sampah) Program at SMPN 3 Majene as a community service initiative. This program aimed to develop positive habits and students’ responsibility toward waste management. A participatory method was applied by actively involving students in daily waste collection after school, waste sorting, cleaning, packaging, and weekly distribution to the School Waste Bank. The results indicated improved student discipline, better understanding of waste classification, and increased awareness of reducing single-use plastics. Overall, the GEMAS Program proved effective in establishing an environmentally conscious school culture and has the potential to be implemented as a sustainable waste management model in other educational institutions.

Abstract

The main triggering factor for landslides is high rainfall intensity, especially during the rainy season. Excessive rainfall can cause an increase in water content in the soil, which in turn will reduce the shear strength of the soil and increase the volume weight of the soil. The method used is a laboratory experiment by taking samples from the field. The sample of this study was sandy clay soil taken from a landslide-prone area located in Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency. Based on the results of soil geotechnical laboratory tests in the landslide-prone zone in Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency, it can be concluded that the soil sample has moderate plasticity characteristics with a Liquid Limit of 59.39%, Plastic Limit of 49.77%, and Plasticity Index of 9.62%. The soil reaches a maximum dry density of 1.37 gr/cm³ at an optimum water content of 500 ml, with a grain size distribution dominated by the sand fraction (83.978% retained on sieve No. 4-20) and a very low fine material content (1.234%). The results of the triaxial test showed soil behavior that varied from brittle to strain-hardening depending on the level of cell stress. Overall, the soil can be classified as well-graded sand with good drainage but low cohesion, thus requiring additional stabilization for construction applications in landslide-prone areas.

Abstract

The physicochemical properties of soil play a crucial role in determining plant growth, development, and productivity. However, these properties are highly dynamic and can change due to management practices as well as natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions. This study was aimed to analyze the physicochemical properties of soils under several land-use types (forest, coffee, chili, and rice fields) in Nagari Lasi following Marapi eruption on Dec 03, 2023. Undisturbed and disturbed soil samples were collected at depths of 0–30 cm and 30–60 cm. The results showed that, in general, there were no significant differences in either the physical or the chemical properties of soils across land-use types and soil depths. The soil texture in all land uses and depths was classified as sandy–silt loam, with a very low clay content (5–22%). The bulk density (BD) was <0.80 Mg m⁻³, total soil porosity (TSP) was moderate, and the hydraulic conductivity (HC) rate was high (20–31 cm h⁻¹), except in rice fields (5.34 cm h⁻¹). The plasticity index (PI) was low in both soil layers (2.21–5.31% at 0–30 cm and 5.63–7.21% at 30–60 cm). Soil chemical properties were also not significantly different among the land uses, particularly pH (5.12–5.86) and total N (0.13–0.41%) for both depths. However, the C/N ratio in the 0–30 cm layer tended to be lower than that in the 30–60 cm layer.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the project-based learning model with the Mandar local cultural approach on students' mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII of SMP Negeri 07 Campalagian, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi. This study is a study with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 07 Campalagian. The sampling technique used was the saturated sampling technique which is a sampling technique in which all members of the population can be used as samples. Research data were collected using a learning outcome test consisting of a Pretest and Posttest, as well as an observation sheet consisting of a sheet of learning implementation by the teacher and student activities. The results of data analysis show that students' mathematics learning outcomes after the application of project-based learning with the Mandar local cultural approach are in the high category with skor 80.21 so it can be concluded that there is an increase in the learning outcomes of students taught using the Project Based Learning model with the Mandar Local Cultural approach.
