Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential skills of the 21st century which are very important for students to master. Unfortunately, some research results show students' low critical thinking skills. One important component that supports the teaching of critical thinking for students is learning tools. The results of the preliminary study show the lack of learning tools that are oriented towards students' scientific activities so that it is suspected to be the cause of students' low critical thinking skills. This study aims to evaluate the validity of inquiry-based biology learning tools that can explicitly be used to teach critical thinking skills. This research is descriptive-evaluative research because it only evaluates the results of expert judgment on the validity of the developed learning tools. Two validators with professor qualifications were involved in this study to evaluate the validity of the product using the validation sheet instrument. The results showed that the learning tools developed in the form of lesson plans, learning materials, student worksheets, and critical thinking ability tests were generally stated to be valid (score = 3.65) and reliable (score = 0.93) used to teach students' critical thinking skills in system teaching materials Respiratory. Further research related to the practicality test and the effectiveness of the resulting device needs to be carried out in further research

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the learning difficulties in Indonesian language instruction in Donggala Regency and to provide solutions to address the challenges faced by elementary students in learning the Indonesian language. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique follows the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of four stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that students encounter four main types of difficulties in learning Indonesian: (1) difficulty in understanding sentence structure due to limited ability in organizing grammatical components; (2) difficulty in speaking Indonesian, mainly influenced by the dominance of the mother tongue at home; (3) writing errors, particularly in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation; and (4) inability to read fluently, especially in recognizing and pronouncing words correctly. The contributing factors include limited vocabulary, differing linguistic backgrounds, monotonous teaching methods, and inadequate learning media. Proposed solutions involve implementing contextual teaching methods, utilizing visual and audio media, and providing intensive teacher guidance tailored to students’ characteristics. Abstrak Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kesulitan pembelajaran Bahasa di kabupaten Donggala dan memberikan solusi dalam menghadapi kesulitan siswa pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model miles dan huberman yang terdiri dari tahapan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami empat jenis kesulitan utama dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, yaitu: (1) kesulitan memahami struktur kalimat karena rendahnya kemampuan dalam mengorganisasi unsur-unsur kalimat secara gramatikal; (2) kesulitan berbicara menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia yang disebabkan oleh pengaruh bahasa ibu yang dominan di lingkungan rumah; (3) kesalahan penulisan, terutama dalam ejaan, huruf kapital, dan penggunaan tanda baca; serta (4) belum bisa membaca secara lancar, terutama dalam mengenali dan mengucapkan kata dengan benar. Faktor penyebab kesulitan tersebut meliputi keterbatasan kosakata, perbedaan latar belakang bahasa, metode pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi, serta keterbatasan media pembelajaran. Solusi yang ditawarkan meliputi penerapan metode pembelajaran yang kontekstual, pemanfaatan media visual dan audio, serta pendampingan intensif dari guru sesuai karakteristik siswa.
