Abstract

Eucalyptus is one of the essential oil-producing plants which has been widely used as a material for various health or pharmaceutical products. Pattapang Village has abundant eucalyptus tree potential. Currently, no industry or group processes eucalyptus leaves as a source of essential oil for health purposes. Eucalyptus leaves become waste due to the community’s lack of knowledge of its benefits. Based on field observations, partners from Buluballea Forest Farmer Group (KTH) have the potential to utilize and process eucalyptus leaves into herbal products. The herbal products can either be used by themselves or have selling value, which provides additional income, especially during the covid-19 pandemic period. This community service activity was aimed to provide knowledge and skills for partners regarding the processing of eucalyptus leaves into practical use and easily-distributed herbal products. The method used was counseling on the health benefits of eucalyptus oil, training on eucalyptus leaf distillation techniques, training on making herbal products, product packaging, and labeling activities, and training on business management and product marketing. The final result of this activity showed an increased partner's understanding and skills in processing eucalyptus leaves into herbal products. Herbal products in the form of aromatherapy wind oil and eucalyptus herbal soap produced can increase business motivation to increase income. --- Eucalyptus merupakan salah satu tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri yang banyak digunakan untuk bahan berbagai produk kesehatan atau farmasi. Kelurahan Pattapang merupakan salah satu wilayah yang memiliki potensi ratusan ribu pohon eucalyptus. Hingga saat ini belum ada industri atau kelompok yang mengolah daun eucalyptus sebagai sumber minyak atsiri ataupun pemanfaatannya dibidang kesehatan. Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat setempat tentang manfaat daun eucalyptus membuat daun eucalyptus hanya dibuang sebagai limbah. Berdasarkan pengamatan di lapangan, mitra Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Buluballea memiliki potensi untuk memanfaatkan dan mengolah daun eucalyptus menjadi produk herbal. Selain dapat digunakan sendiri, produk herbal tersebut bernilai jual sehingga akan memberikan pendapatan tambahan pada mitra khususnya ditengah pandemik covid-19. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan bagi mitra terkait pengolahan daun eucalyptus menjadi produk herbal yang praktis digunakan dan dapat didistribusikan. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan manfaat minyak eucalyptus bagi kesehatan, pelatihan teknik penyulingan daun eucalyptus, pelatihan pembuatan produk herbal, kegiatan pengemasan dan pelabelan produk, serta pelatihan manajemen usaha dan pemasaran produk. Hasil akhir kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan mitra dalam mengolah daun eucalyptus menjadi produk herbal. Produk herbal berupa minyak angin aromaterapi dan sabun herbal eucalyptus yang dihasilkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi usaha mitra untuk menambah penghasilan.

Abstract

Background: Bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan sabun cuci piring biasanya menggunakan bahan aktif kimia sintetik yang memiliki dampak negatif bagi lingkungan yaitu dapat mencemari lingkungan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka, pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk memanfaatkan daun sirih dan daun binahong sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan sabun cuci piring yang ramah lingkungan dan dapat menciptakan peluang usaha baru yang memberikan pendapatan kepada warga desa. Metode: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bermitra dengan kelompok PKK Desa Balong Kec. Ujung Loe Kab. Bulukumba, yang terdiri dari 20 orang anggota. Kegiatan yang diusulkan pada PKM ini adalah sosialisasi kandungan senyawa aktif daun sirih dan daun binahong, pelatihan teknik pembuatan dan proses produksi pengolahan daun sirih dan daun binahong menjadi sabun cuci piring, pelatihan teknik pengemasan dan pelabelan produk, pelatihan manajemen usaha dan pemasaran produk, evaluasi program, serta pendampingan. Hasil: Pengolahan daun sirih dan daun binahong menjadi sabun cuci piring sangat memberikan dampak positif terhadap ibu PKK di Desa Balong, selain mereka dapat membuat sabun cuci piring sendiri, mereka juga dapat memanfaatkan tanaman yang mereka tanam selama ini yang kurang dimanfaatkan. Daun sirih dan daun binahong termasuk tanaman yang mengandung senyawa-senyawa kimia dengan bioaktivitas sebagai antibakteri. Kesimpulan: Dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa, melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan ibu-ibu PKK dapat mengetahui manfaat penggunaan daun sirih dan daun binahong dalam pembuatan sabun cuci piring yang ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Lahuna and betel are plants that have been used traditionally as medicine. The content of secondary metabolites in lahuna and betel leaves can be used as active compounds in the manufacture of liquid soap. This study aims to evaluate liquid soap formulations of lahuna leaf extract and betel leaf extract and to test its activity against Escherichia coli. The research method used was pH test, organoleptic test, homogeneity test, foam height test, water content test according to SNI 1996 and antibacterial activity test with agar diffusion method. The results showed that the liquid soap formulation was in accordance with SNI 1996 which was based on pH test, organoleptic test, homogeneity test, foam height test and water content test. Also, the liquid soap formulation has very strong activity against Escherichia coli characterized by a clear zone that is formed more than 19 mm

Abstract

Kesimpulan: Dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa, melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan ibu-ibu PKK dapat mengetahui manfaat penggunaan daun sirih dan daun binahong dalam pembuatan sabun cuci piring yang ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Boraks dan formalin adalah bahan pengawet kayu, bahan pembersih dan antiseptik yang sering disalah gunakan menjadi pengawet dalam bahan pangan. Penggunaan bahan pengawet boraks dan formalin dalam bahan pangan sangat berbahaya karena dapat menyebabkan beberapa penyakit serius seperti kanker. Peredaran bahan pangan yang mengandung pengawet berbahaya banyak beredar dimasyarakat, dan tujuan penelitian ini mengindentifikasi secara kualitatif beberapa bahan pangan di Kabupaten Bulukumba. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan penelitian ini yaitu pengambilan sampel secara acak yang selanjutnya dilakukan uji formalin dan uji boraks dengan menggunakan KMnO4 dan kunyit. Dari 25 sampel yang diuji, terdapat 21 bahan pangan mengandung formalin (95%) Dan (0%) mengandung boraks.

Abstract

This study aims to make environmentally friendly bioplastics. This is because the use of plastic creates a plastic waste problem which is very difficult to handle. After all, it is difficult to decompose. Excessive use of plastic will be bad for the safety of the earth in the future. One of the innovations to be developed is the synthesis of environmentally friendly bioplastics. The basic ingredients for making bioplastics come from starch, cellulose, and chitosan. The process of making bioplastics uses several formulations including A0 (control), A1, A2 and A3. The research results showed that the biodegradability test was good for the A3 formula and the water absorption test was 3.77% and water resistance was 96.2%.

Abstract

This study utilizes natural ingredients as a source of active ingredients in ointment preparations. Lahuna leaves and binahong leaves have potential as a source of active ingredients which, based on phytochemical tests, contain flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and steroids. Ointment preparations were made with 5 formulas based on organoleptic evaluation showing the five formulas in semi-solid form, color and characteristic odor of extracts. homogeneous and can spread evenly. Test the pH of ointment preparations according to SNI 164399-1996 for the quality of skin preparations. In vitro test showed formulas I and III had inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical area. Erratic climate change causes many diseases, especially infectious diseases caused by fungi. One of the fungi that commonly contaminates food is Aspergillus sp. This type of fungus produces various types of toxins which can cause quite serious illnesses in humans. Acute diseases caused by the Asprgillus sp. fungus can attack the central nervous system, some of which are carcinogenic, causing poisoning, cancer of the liver, kidneys and stomach if eaten in small quantities and over a long period of time. This is the background for conducting research. The aim of this research is to determine whether or not the fungus Aspergillus sp. on salted fish sold at the central market of Pinrang Regency. This research uses an experimental laboratory research design, namely a proportional research design. Samples of salted fish at the central market in Pinrang Regency. Next, planting is carried out in Potato Dextrose Agare (PDA) media and then incubated again at a temperature of 37ºC for 3-7 days. Fungal colonies growing on PDA media were observed macroscopically and microscopically. The results of the examination of 7 samples found that 5 (71.43%) samples were positively identified as Aspergillus sp fungus. and 2 (28.57%) negative samples where the fungus Aspergillus sp. was not identified. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that most of the salted fish samples circulating in the central market of Pinrang Regency are still contaminated with Aspergillus sp.

Abstract

The body's immune system is one of the natural defenses in the human body, functioning to ward off various diseases, including those that emerged after the Covid-19 pandemic. One plant with potential as an antioxidant and easily found in the environment is watermelon. Jam made from watermelon rind and secang wood, with various formulations, namely 100% watermelon rind: 0% secang (F1), 90% watermelon rind: 10% secang (F2), 80% watermelon rind: 2% secang (F3), and 70% watermelon rind: 3% secang (F4), is expected to possess good antioxidant properties. A promising antioxidant formulation for watermelon rind jam and secang is the one with 70% watermelon rind and 30% secang (F4), having an IC50 value of 144.27 g/mL, which is classified as a moderate antioxidant. Among the four jam formulations, panelists preferred the jam formulation (F4) without the addition of sweetened condensed milk in terms of color and texture. However, for the jam formulation (F4) with the addition of sweetened condensed milk, panelists favored it in terms of aroma and taste. The jam formulation (F4) meets the quality standards for fruit jam based on INS 3746:2008, including total plate count, arsenic, and tin categories.

Abstract

Infectious diseases caused by microorganisms are the main cause of high morbidity and mortality in the world. One of the plants that have the potential as an antiseptic is a lahuna leaf. Lahuna leaves contain active antibacterial compounds and the addition of betel leaf to the liquid soap formulations can strengthen the activity of the antiseptic produced. The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of liquid soap formulations of lahuna leaves and betel leaves as an antiseptic. The methods used include phytochemical screening, physical observation of liquid soap formulations, and antibacterial activity tests using agar diffusion methods. The results of the phytochemical analysis showed that lahuna leaves contain flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, and alkaloids, while betel leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, and alkaloids. The liquid soap formulation of lahuna leaves and betel leaves has a clear yellow color, distinctive aroma, liquid form, rough taste, and lots of foam and has very strong inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus which is characterized by clear zones formed for each formulation I (22.4 mm), formulation II (21.8 mm) and formulation III (20.1 mm). These results indicate the potential of liquid soap formulations of lahuna leaves and betel leaves as antiseptic soap.
