Abstract

The application of character values through classroom learning has not been maximal because teachers have difficulty choosing the right learning model. The OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, and Engage in Behavior) learning model is appropriate to implement. This article aims to describe the implementation of teacher assistance activities in developing character values through learning by applying the OIDDE learning model. The subjects of the service were 12 teachers at SD / MI levels, 12 teachers from SMP / MTs, and 15 teachers at SMA / SMK / MA levels from 39 schools in Batu City, East Java. The activity was carried out for 6 months using the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) method, workshops, hands-on practice, outreach, and evaluation. The evaluation of community service is carried out thoroughly, from the process to the output, especially the seriousness of the teacher in participating in the activities to the skills in applying the model. The results of the process evaluation show that, the service activity is carried out well, the average attendance is 85%, and as many as 100% of the teachers become the Master Teacher model. OIDDE learning, and has the right to provide tutors with OIDDE learning models.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low conceptual understanding of SMAN 2 Sampit students regarding the complex and abstract nature of viruses, as well as the dominance of conventional teacher-centered learning methods. To address these issues, this research focuses on the application of the OIDDE (*Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, Engage in behavior*) learning model as a strategy to improve understanding of Biology concepts. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is implemented in one cycle. The research stages include planning, implementing actions according to the OIDDE syntax, observing student activities, and testing conceptual understanding before and after the action. The main findings show a significant increase in students' conceptual understanding, where the average score of the final test reached 81, exceeding the KKTP (75) and the initial average score (58), with 85% of students achieving mastery. In addition, there was an increase in student activity, enthusiasm, and involvement in a more active and collaborative learning process. It is concluded that the OIDDE model is proven to be effective in facilitating in-depth knowledge construction and improving students' conceptual understanding of viruses, making it a relevant alternative for Biology learning in the Merdeka Curriculum era. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep murid SMAN 2 Sampit terhadap materi virus yang bersifat kompleks dan abstrak, serta dominasi metode pembelajaran konvensional yang berpusat pada guru. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penelitian ini berfokus pada penerapan model pembelajaran OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, Engage in behavior) sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep Biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam satu siklus. Tahapan penelitian meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan sesuai sintaks OIDDE, observasi aktivitas murid, dan tes pemahaman konsep sebelum dan sesudah tindakan. Temuan utama menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman konsep murid, di mana nilai rata-rata tes akhir mencapai 81, melampaui KKTP (75) dan nilai rata-rata awal (58), dengan 85% murid mencapai ketuntasan. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan aktivitas, antusiasme, dan keterlibatan murid dalam proses pembelajaran yang lebih aktif dan kolaboratif. Disimpulkan bahwa model OIDDE terbukti efektif dalam memfasilitasi konstruksi pengetahuan yang mendalam dan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep murid pada materi virus, menjadikannya alternatif yang relevan untuk pembelajaran Biologi di era Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penerapan model Pembelajaran OIDDE (orientation, identify, discussion, decision, and engage in behavavior). Dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap peduli lingkungan mahasiswa, melalui meta-analisis data hasil studi pustaka penelitian yang sudah ada. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis/pendekatan penelitian yang berupa studi kepustakaan (library research) atau studi literatur. Berdasarkan literature review, didapatkan 10 jurnal dan 3 Tesis dianalisis. Jurnal yang dianalisis adalah jurnal nasional tentang Pengaruh model Pembelajaran OIDDE terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan sikap peduli lingkungan. Dapat disimpulkan, penelitian ini memiliki hasil analisis, yakni adanya pengaruh dalam penerapan model OIDDE, diungkapkan oleh Ma’rifatillah et all mengemukakan bahwa memasuki tahun ke - 21, berbagai aspek kehidupan sehari-hari , termasuk pendidikan, mengalami resesi dikarenakan pendidikan merupakan proses pengembangan kualitas pribadi dan memberikan kontribusi positif bagi kehidupan yang lebih baik baik bagi individu maupun orang lain. Proses pembelajaran ini melibatkan observasi, pengajaran, dan transfer pengetahuan untuk memaksimalkan hasil belajar model OIDDE. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemikiran kritis dan kesadaran lingkungan adalah model OIDDE. Model ini berfokus pada orientasi, identifikasi, diskusi, pengambilan keputusan, dan menunjukan sikap/perilaku.

Abstract

Virus-related materials can be challenging to comprehend due to its use of scientific and abstract terminology that is often difficult to visualize or directly observe. This difficulty is evident among students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Jombang, particularly when learning about the classification and types of viruses. The challenges students face in understanding this material are reflected in their cognitive learning outcomes, which have not yet reached the minimum completeness standard. On average, students' scores are 68, which falls under the "below average" category. This issue arises because the learning modules currently used in the classroom are limited to school textbooks, which do not adequately cover the subtopics of virus classification and types. As a result, there is a pressing need to support active learning by developing PjBL-based biology learning modules that are more accessible and easier for students to understand. The aim of this study was to determine the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) based learning modules on virus material on cognitive learning outcomes. The experimental class has a corrected mean score of 50.112. Similar result is obtained in the control class with a corrected mean score of 46.415. Thus, the PjBL-based Biology module does not show any potential in improving cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Biology learning on the human excretory system topic often encounters challenges due to the abstract and complex nature of the material, thus requiring interactive digital teaching materials that can enhance students’ engagement in the learning process. This study aimed to develop an excretory system e-module based on the OIDDE learning model (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, and Engage in Behavior) and to determine its validity and practicality. This research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The product was validated by subject matter, language, and media experts and was limitedly tested with one biology teacher and 30 eighth-grade students at MTsN Kota Batu. Data were collected using validation sheets and response questionnaires based on a four-point Likert scale and were analyzed descriptively using percentage calculations. The results showed validity levels of 85% from subject matter experts (valid), 90% from language experts (very valid), and 95% from media experts (very valid). The practicality test results indicated percentages of 95% from the teacher and 90% from students, both categorized as very practical. Therefore, the OIDDE-based e-module is considered valid and practical and has the potential to support more active and meaningful biology learning at the junior secondary school level.

Abstract

Background: This community-service program aimed to strengthen environmental literacy through urban-farming-based school practices to support Adiwiyata implementation at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Method: The intervention combined governance strengthening (Adiwiyata team and cadres), teacher training, hands-on urban farming (vertical gardening, simple NFT hydroponics, and mini composting), and mentoring–evaluation using the school PBLHS monitoring documents. The proposed technology specifications included 10 units of vertical gardening (±12 m²), one NFT hydroponic set (±10 m²; 50 L tank; 5W pump), and two stacked-bucket composters (2 kg organic waste/day). Results: Teacher pre–post data (N=18) indicated a substantial increase in environmental literacy scores from Low (Mean=58.42±3.20) to Good (Mean=82.22±2.32), with 38.89% reaching the Very Good category at posttest. Consistently, the school’s PBLHS monitoring reported that 90% of teachers integrated PRLH into the KTSP document and 90% implemented it in lesson plans and classroom practice. Conclusion: These results suggest that aligning governance, curriculum integration, and urban farming as a “living laboratory” provides a feasible and measurable pathway to sustainable environmental literacy improvement.

Abstract

In the 21st century, everyone faces challenges of globalization, including young children. Based on previous research, abilities can be developed through a child-centered approach. The Reggio Emilia Approach is one of those. Reggio Emilia uses project-based learning and open-ended materials to develop 21st-century skills. However, the Reggio Emilia Approach has another component that may also be developed to strengthen those abilities. This study aims to see whether all the Reggio Emilia components can address the challenges and to assess the feasibility of applying this approach in the Indonesian context. This study uses a literature review method, analyzing 2 primary sources on the Reggio Emilia Approach, 1 primary source on Education according to Ki Hajar Dewantara, and 62 articles, including primary and secondary sources, on the Reggio Emilia Approach and 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, and Engage in Behavior) learning model on virus material on students' problem-solving and ethical decision-making abilities in class X at SMAN 2 Sampit. The background of this study is based on the dominance of teacher-centered learning, which has not optimally developed students' higher-order thinking skills and ethical awareness. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 70 students, divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through problem-solving tests and ethical decision-making questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean posttest score in problem-solving ability (M = 87.00) compared to the control class (M = 73.86), with a significant difference (p < 0.05). The N-Gain score in the experimental class was 64.66% (moderate category), and the effect size was very large (Cohen’s d = 2.916). In terms of ethical decision-making, the experimental class also showed higher posttest scores (M = 90.49) than the control class (M = 85.66), with a significant difference (p = 0.012 < 0.05) and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.139). These findings suggest that the OIDDE learning model has a positive effect on improving students’ problem-solving and ethical decision-making abilities. However, further studies with larger samples are recommended to strengthen the generalizability of the results.
