Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the academic stresses of psychology study program students who are programming thesis courses, faculty of psychology and education at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. The method in this study uses a descriptive quantitative approach which aims to determine the intensity of academic stress on psychology students who are programming thesis courses. The research subjects were 123 out of 200 students who processed thesis courses in 2017-2018. The sample was taken using simple random sampling. The data were collected using the academic stress scale compiled by the researcher. The results of this study illustrate that the results of the intensity of student academic stress are dominated in the moderate to quite high category, namely 67%. The results of this study also illustrate that the aspects of academic stress in psychology study program students are more dominant in the physical and emotional aspects. On the physical aspect, you get 34%, on the emotional aspect you get 29% on the intellectual aspect you get 21% and on the intrapersonal aspect you get 16%.

Abstract

General Background school well-being is crucial for fostering a positive educational environment and promoting student discipline. Specific Background this study investigates the relationship between school well-being and student discipline behavior at a high school. Knowledge Gap while existing research highlights the importance of both constructs, there is limited empirical evidence examining their correlation, particularly in the context of high school students. Aims the research aims to determine whether a significant relationship exists between school well-being and student discipline behavior among students at SMA Avisena. Results analysis revealed a correlation coefficient (rᵪᵧ) of 0.025 with a significance value of 0.747, indicating no significant relationship between the two variables. Despite the absence of a clear correlation, there appears to be a tendency for a connection. Novelty this study contributes to the literature by exploring the dynamics of school well-being and discipline in a high school setting, providing insights into the complexities of student behavior. Implications the findings suggest that while school well-being may not directly influence student discipline behavior, understanding the nuances of their relationship can inform strategies to improve both constructs within educational institutions. Further research is recommended to explore other factors that may mediate or moderate this relationship. Highlights: No significant relationship found between school well-being and student discipline. The study highlights a tendency for a connection despite statistical insignificance. Abstract

This research is motivated by the number of Consumptive Behaviors of SMK YAPALIS Krian students. This study aims to determine the description of consumptive behavior in students of SMK YAPALIS Krian. The variable in this study is Consumptive Behavior. The sample in this study were students of SMK YAPALIS Krian, totaling 286 students of grade 10 to grade 12. Determination of the sample using proportionate stratified random sampling on students of SMK YAPALIS Krian. Data collection was carried out using a Consumptive Behavior psychology scale with a Likert scale model. The analysis technique used descriptive quantitative with the help of SPSS 18.0 for windows. The results of the analysis of Consumptive Behavior in YAPALIS Krian Vocational High School students obtained the results of 21 students who had very high Consumptive Behavior, 63 students had high Consumptive Behavior, 116 students had moderate Consumptive Behavior, 67 students who have Low Consumptive Behavior and 19 students have Low Consumptive Behavior, it can be said that YAPALIS Krian Vocational School students have Consumptive Behavior with a Medium Category tending to the top Highlights: Consumptive behavior prevalence: The study highlights the distribution of consumptive behavior among students of SMK YAPALIS Krian, indicating the varying levels of consumption exhibited by the students. Sample size and methodology: The study involved a sample of 286 students from grades 10 to 12, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling, providing a comprehensive representation of the student population. Descriptive analysis results: The analysis revealed that a significant portion of the students exhibited moderate to high levels of consumptive behavior, emphasizing the need for further investigation and potential intervention to address this behavior pattern. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of mother's education level and employment status on children's readiness for elementary school. Employing a quantitative comparison method, data from 194 children were collected through the NST test and a parental questionnaire. The school readiness, mother's education level, and employment status were assessed. Statistical analysis using SPSS 16.0 and the Anova and t-test techniques revealed that neither the mother's education level (F = 1.139, Sig. = 0.340 > 0.05) nor the employment status (t score = -0.763, Sig. = 0.446 > 0.05) significantly influenced the school readiness of the children. These results suggest that other intervening variables such as parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and child's motivation may be more crucial determinants of a child's preparedness for school. This study offers a novel perspective to parents, educators, and developmental psychologists by challenging conventional assumptions about mother's influence on children's school readiness. Highlights: A mother's education level doesn't significantly influence a child's readiness for elementary school. A mother's employment status (working or non-working) also doesn't significantly affect a child's school readiness. Other factors like parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and child's motivation could be more influential on a child's preparedness for school. Abstract

General Background: The growth of eco-tourism development requires psychological insights to support sustainable environmental management at the community level. Specific Background: Gunung Petung Village, particularly the Sumber Nyonya Waterfall area, represents a developing rural tourism destination where residents’ environmental awareness plays a central role. Knowledge Gap: Limited empirical studies examine how subjective well-being and altruism jointly relate to environmental awareness within local tourism development contexts. Aims: This study investigates the role of subjective well-being and altruism in shaping environmental awareness among village residents. Results: Using a quantitative approach with 172 participants selected from a population of 336 residents, findings indicate that subjective well-being (r=0.313) and altruism (r=0.319) are positively correlated with environmental awareness, and jointly show significant statistical contribution (F=16.087, p=0.001). Novelty: The study integrates psychological well-being and prosocial orientation within a rural eco-tourism setting. Implications: The findings provide theoretical insight into psychological determinants of environmental consciousness and inform community-based strategies for sustainable tourism development. Abstract

General Background: Consumptive behavior among university students has become a significant issue in contemporary socio-economic and psychological discourse, particularly in relation to self-regulation and lifestyle orientation. Specific Background: Students are frequently exposed to hedonistic lifestyle patterns and digital consumption trends that shape spending behavior beyond primary needs. Knowledge Gap: Although previous studies have examined self control or hedonistic lifestyle separately, limited empirical research integrates both variables simultaneously in explaining student consumptive behavior within the same analytical model. Aims: This study aims to analyze the relationship between self control and hedonistic lifestyle with consumptive behavior among university students. Results: The findings indicate that self control is negatively associated with consumptive behavior, while hedonistic lifestyle shows a positive association. Simultaneously, both variables contribute significantly to explaining variations in student spending patterns. Novelty: This research offers an integrated empirical examination of self control and hedonistic lifestyle as concurrent predictors within a single quantitative framework. Implications: The results provide a conceptual basis for developing educational interventions and financial awareness programs targeting students to foster responsible consumption patterns. Abstract

General Background: Adolescence is a developmental period marked by complex emotional changes, particularly among adolescent girls living in orphanages who experience limited emotional support and environmental differences from nuclear families. Specific Background: Difficulties in emotional control among orphaned adolescent girls may manifest in withdrawal, irritability, and maladaptive behaviors, highlighting the need for structured psychological interventions. Knowledge Gap: Although expressive writing has been applied in various emotional contexts, limited empirical evidence exists regarding its application for improving emotional control among adolescent girls in orphanage settings. Aims: This study aims to examine the role of Expressive Writing Therapy (EXPRIT) in improving emotional control among adolescent girls residing in an orphanage. Results: Using a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design with four participants, statistical analysis through Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant difference between pretest (M = 9.500) and posttest scores (M = 30.500), with p = 0.032 (p < 0.05), indicating improved emotional control following intervention. Novelty: This study focuses specifically on adolescent girls in a Muhammadiyah-affiliated orphanage and integrates psychoanalytic catharsis theory with structured expressive writing sessions. Implications: Findings suggest that expressive writing therapy may serve as a structured psychological intervention to support emotional control development among vulnerable adolescents in institutional care settings. Abstract

This study examines the relationship between online gaming intensity and academic procrastination among university students. General Background: Academic procrastination is a persistent behavioral issue in higher education that may reduce academic performance and psychological well-being. Specific Background: The increasing engagement of students in online gaming activities raises concerns regarding time management and academic responsibility. Knowledge Gap: Although prior studies have explored procrastination and digital behavior, differences in research subjects, variables, and settings indicate the need for contextual empirical evidence among psychology students in Indonesia. Aims: This study aims to analyze the role of online gaming intensity in predicting academic procrastination among students of the Faculty of Psychology and Education at a private university in Sidoarjo. Results: Using a quantitative correlational design with 399 participants and simple linear regression analysis, the findings reveal a positive and statistically significant relationship (B = 0.571; β = 0.593; p < 0.001), indicating that higher gaming intensity is associated with higher levels of academic procrastination. Novelty: The study provides localized empirical evidence by focusing on psychology students and applying regression analysis to quantify predictive contribution. Implications: The findings underline the importance of time management, self-control, and digital literacy programs to prevent maladaptive academic behavior in higher education contexts. Abstract

General Background Subjective well-being is a central construct in psychology that reflects individuals’ evaluations of life satisfaction and emotional experiences, particularly within social and cultural contexts such as fandom communities. Specific Background Fans of idol groups often form strong emotional attachments and social networks that may shape their psychological functioning, including perceived happiness and life satisfaction. Knowledge Gap Despite extensive research on well-being across populations, limited empirical attention has been directed toward idol fandom communities, particularly JKT48 fans in regional contexts. Aims This study examines the relationship between social support and celebrity worship with subjective well-being among members of the JKT48 fan community in Sidoarjo using a quantitative correlational design. Results Findings from multiple linear regression indicate that social support and celebrity worship each show positive and significant associations with subjective well-being, both individually and jointly, accounting for 23.8% of variance. Additionally, male fans exhibit higher levels of celebrity worship than female fans. Novelty The study contributes new empirical evidence by focusing specifically on a regional idol fandom community that has not previously been examined in relation to subjective well-being. Implications These results suggest that adaptive engagement in fandom, supported by interpersonal connections, is linked to favorable psychological outcomes, highlighting the importance of balanced parasocial attachment and community support for mental health within fan cultures. Highlights: Interpersonal backing within the fan community is positively associated with life satisfaction and emotional states. Strong attachment to idols corresponds with higher psychological appraisal scores among participants. Male participants demonstrate greater levels of idol fixation compared with female participants.
