Abstract

This research aims to understand the interaction between pressure and volume in gas systems, as explained by Boyle’s Law, has significant applications in industrial and medical fields. This study examines the relationship between pressure and volume through practical experiments using constant piston height. Measurements were carried out to validate the inverse proportionality between pressure and volume under constant temperature conditions. The findings revealed a consistent increase in pressure across three experiments, with average values of 100.84 Pa, 100.87 Pa, and 100.88 Pa, respectively. These results demonstrate the applicability of Boyle’s Law in understanding gas behavior and optimizing gas-based systems. This research contributes to practical applications such as medical ventilators and gas cylinder designs, offering insights for technological innovation in these areas.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to create infographics based on YouTube videos and evaluate the effectiveness of basic Physics 1 lectures using the multiple representation (MR) approach as a deeper learning process for Uhamka physics education students. A multi-representation (MR) approach that uses representations such as verbal, images, graphics, mathematics and videos can help students gain mastery of Basic Physics 1 concepts, enhancing deeper learning by providing diverse and interactive teaching materials.  Infographics and YouTube videos as learning media for Basic Physics 1 provide a clear and interesting visual picture, making it easier for students to master theoretical physics concepts and relate them to applications in the real world. The results of this research are in the form of infographics which show that students are able to convey the results of basic physics 1 learning via YouTube as an in-depth learning medium using a multi-representation (MR).

Abstract

Abstract

The integration of sensor-based technology into physics learning is essential in the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, particularly for improving practicum-based conceptual understanding. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of a Boyle–Gay-Lussac Law practicum tool developed using the BME280 sensor, which is capable of measuring pressure, temperature, and humidity simultaneously. The research adopted a Research and Development (RD) approach based on the Jan van den Akker model, involving preliminary research, prototyping, validation by experts, and small-scale field testing. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires validated by physics education experts and tested among high school students. Media validation results achieved an average score of 93.6%, and material validation scored 78%, indicating excellent and good quality, respectively. Small-scale trials yielded average scores of 87.84% for media and 87% for material, categorized as excellent. The developed tool facilitated real-time experimentation, improved measurement accuracy, and enhanced student engagement and conceptual understanding of gas laws. The novelty of this tool lies in its integration of a multi-function sensor and real-time LCD display, offering a compact, reusable, and interactive practicum experience. Conclusions indicate that the BME280 sensor-based tool is both effective and feasible for physics instruction. This innovation contributes to physics education by modernizing practicum resources, promoting active learning, and bridging the gap between abstract thermodynamic concepts and practical experimentation.

Abstract

This research aims to examine improving students' critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes using the Guided Discovery Learning learning model. Critical thinking and scientific attitudes are important aspects to develop in learning, especially in science learning in elementary schools. Critical thinking is part of the cognitive work process and a scientific attitude develops affective aspects. A quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest control group design is the research methodology. Students in the fifth grade at SDN Bukit Duri 05 in South Jakarta served as the research subjects. The control group received therapy using the Free Discovery Learning learning model, whereas the experimental group received treatment using the Guided Discovery Learning learning model. According to the study's findings, there was no difference between the experimental class's and the control group's early critical thinking skills. The results showed that there was no difference between the experimental class and the control class in terms of early scientific attitude abilities. Additionally, compared to students in the control class, those in the experimental class showed a different growth in critical thinking abilities. Lastly, it was discovered that the experimental class and the control class had different rising scientific views.
