Abstract

Trade liberalization generates higher commodity export opportunities between countries. The export opportunities to the African countries are evidenced by the high average growth of the total export values from Indonesia to Africa in 2011-2016, amounting to 5.886%. The aim of this research is to determine the potential importing African countries through the identification of export value and share, evaluate the performance and trade integration between Indonesia and the African countries through RCA, EPD and IIT methods. The results showed that South Africa with commodities like HS 71, 15, 40, 87 and 84 and Egypt with HS 15, 55, 40, 48 and 84, could be potential export destinations for Indonesia in 2011-2016. The Indonesian HS 71, 15 and 40 commodities in South Africa and Egypt i.e. HS 15, 55, 40, and 48, face tremendous competitivity. The potential Indonesian commodities in the South African market with HS codes of 15, 84, and 87 were considered as Falling Star while HS 71 and 40 were in retreating position. The HS 15 and 55 in the Egyptian market were in the position of Falling Star, with HS 40, 48, and 84 in the Retreat position. In South Africa, the HS commodities 71, 15, 40 and HS 87 were weakly integrated while the HS 50 had a strong integration. Keywords: African, RCA, EPD, IIT JEL classification: C23, F10, F13

Abstract

Abstract

Raskin program is the government’s attempt to relax economic burden which poor families face by giving them a certain amount of subsidized-price rice (raskin). In effort to improve the program’s performance, recently the government introduced new concept for the distribution of raskin. By this new concept, the distribution of raskin would be through rural kiosks, not through village-level government network as used to be. Before institutionalized as an alternative for the conventional one, the new concept was tested in some pilot projects located in several provinces, including in West Java Province. Based on the field work in this province, this study concluded that the new concept could improve the program’s performances, especially with regard to quantity and price correctness. It was also found that villagers and local government apparatuses were in support for its implementation. However, it is necessary for the government to monitor and evaluate its implementation on a regular base and to develop a system of governance at village level to assure its good performance. It is also necessary to give a more attractive amount of fee for the owners of kiosk to ensure their commitment to support the program.

Abstract

Despite being recovered from economic crisis, the infrastructure development in Indonesia still hasn’t shown a significant improvement. It is reflected from the diminishing government allocation for infrastructure as a percentage of Gross Domestic Products. The main objective of the study is to analyze the role of infrastructure through the linkage analysis, dispersion effect analysis, multiplier effect analysis, and the investment effect analysis. The scope of infrastructure is only referred to electricity, gas and water, and construction sector. The data used for this study is the 2005 Indonesian Input-Output Table. The result of the study has shown that infrastructure has a higher backward linkage than its forward. In addition, all of the infrastructure sectors has shown more than one dispersion coefficient and conversely has revealed less than one value for the dispersion sensitivity. Which means that infrastructure had a better capability to support the development of its upstream sectors than its downstream. Infrastructure has a positive multiplier effect toward the other sectors. The growth of the investment in the electricity, gas and water sector has given the biggest effect toward the change of the total outpu, while the water sector has given the biggest effect toward the change in the total income,  and road, bridge and port sector has given the biggest effect toward the change in the total labour.

Abstract

The cost structure of textile and clothing industry will affect its performance. Therefore, the analysis of cost structure and its influence to the performance of textile and clothing industry is very important to do. The purpose of this study is to analyze the cost structure and factors that influence the performance of the textile and clothing industry. The analysis used in this research is descriptive and panel model analysis. The result shows that the share of domestic raw material cost is the largest in Indonesian textile and clothing industry cost structure, except for fiber industry where the share of imported raw material cost is the largest. Panel model analysis shows that industry structure, output value, and efficiency have a positive effect on performance (cost price margin/PCM) of textile and clothing industry. Meanwhile, the increases in costs (domestic raw material cost, imported raw material cost, labor cost, and fuel and lubricant cost) negatively affect the performance (PCM) of textile and clothing industry. Keywords: cost structure,  performance analysis,  panel model, price cost marginABSTRAKStruktur biaya industri tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) akan mempengaruhi kinerja industri tersebut.

Abstract

The purpose of this recearch is to detemine the integration between the main producers of ribbed smoked sheet/RSS and world commodity exchange. This research used vector autoregressionmodel (VAR) with no consideration of cointegration based on the daily price data from January 2013 to December 2014. The results showed that not all market’s RSS integrated. But in the short term proved that the Singapore Commodity Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange affect the market price formation in Indonesia and Thailand. Overall the response of each market is relatively small to price in the Singapore and Japan stock thus less strongly affect the prices established in each market. The results also show the price at the commodity exchange of Singapore and Japan became the source of the greatest affect in explaining the variability of prices in both stock markets. Keywords: RSS, market integration, VAR, market price, ribbedABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui integrasi antara pasar karet alam sit asap (ribbed smoked sheet/RSS) produsen utama dengan pasar berjangka dunia.
