Abstract

The main problem of Carica farming in Kejajar District was the differences in farmers' prices in the collection and processing Carica fruit industry. The product marketed by the farmers was fresh Carica fruit and information about the minimum selling price caused them to be unable to determine the right institution. These problems affected Carica's marketing channel, leading to market inefficiencies. This study's place was selected purposively in Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, with the consideration that Kejajar Subdistrict is a Carica center with a production of 4,589 tons (68%) of the total Carica production in Wonosobo Regency. The research was conducted from October - November 2020. The Structure Conduct Performance (SCP) method was used to analyze the marketing channels. The results of the marketing channel analysis show that the market structure formed at the farm level was in the form of a purely competitive market, and at the trader level, the market structure was formed by oligopoly. There were six Carica-marketing channels with cash payment systems, and the merchant determined the purchase price. The highest farmer’s share and profit to cost ratio was channel I (farmer → processing industry) and VI (farmer → village collector → processing industry). The marketing efficiency analysis results show that the marketing of Carica was inefficient because the farmer's share at four marketing channels received by farmers was still less than 40%. Abstract

Background: Foot and Mouth Disease is a highly contagious disease in livestock that can cause great economic losses when there is an outbreak of the disease.Purpose: This study examines the characteristics and dynamics of milk production on smallholder farms in East Java after the outbreak of foot and mouth diseaseDesign/methodology/approach: The regencies of Malang and Pasuruan are the research locations because they are the centers of milk production in East Java. To obtain a representative sample, farmer households were disaggregated by farm location, with a total of 93 farmer households surveyed 45 from Malang Regency and 48 from Pasuruan Regency. East Java Province was recorded to have 282.364 dairy cows in 2022, accounting for 56% of the national dairy cattle population, making it the key region in dairy cattle production. Through a comparative analysis of key factors, such as feed management, labor efficiency, and animal composition, the study revealed significant differences in milk production between the two regions.Findings/Result: The study found that the number of lactating cows positively impacted milk production, with farmers in both Malang and Pasuruan effectively optimizing concentrate feed. However, labor management challenges in Pasuruan hindered full resource utilization, highlighting the need for improved labor practices. To sustain dairy farming in East Java, tailored strategies that address regional differences, optimize resources, enhance labor quality, and invest in disease prevention and farmer education are essential for increasing productivity and resilience. Conclusion: Policy implications highlight the need for targeted training programs, improved measures to prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD), and better access to veterinary services to support farmers in adapting to FMD. Ultimately, strengthening resilience in the dairy farming sector is critical to ensuring the sustainability and productivity of dairy farming in East Java.Originality/value (State of the art): This study provides novel insights by not only analyzing the dynamics of milk production in these regions post-FMD but also by examining the specific factors affecting recovery, such as feed management, labor efficiency, and animal composition. This study offers a comparative analysis between the two major dairy-producing areas in East Java. Keywords: dairy farming, foot and mouth disease, milk production, lactating cow, resource management

Phenomenon has an impact on rainfall intensity, which bring another impact on the agricultural sector, food crops. This study examines the impact of climate change and other determinants on the production food commodities such as rice, corn, and soybean using the static panel data method. The cross section data focuses on the provinces on the island of Java which became the production center for rice, corn, and soybean, as well as four other provinces with the highest production for the three commodities mentioned. Time series data is used from 2009 to 2017. The results show that El Nino has a significant effect on decreasing rice and corn production and increasing soybean production. La Nina has a significant effect on increasing the production of the three commodities studied. Fertilizer subsidy has a significant effect on increasing the production of the three commodities studied meanwhile productivity significantly impact rice and corn productions.

Abstract

The COVID-19 virus has become a worldwide pandemic, and studies of its impact on insurance are needed. This paper aims to look at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on insurance by using the number of claim cases from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Indonesia, which covers 34 provinces. This study uses a time series spanning 2018-2021 and cross-sectional data from 11 regional offices of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The analytical method used in this research is static panel method. The dependent variable in this study is the number of claims cases (Claim) while the independent variables used are Covid19, per capita GRDP, and per capita -savings. Empirical findings suggest that COVID-19 cases are associated with additional insurance claims. Compared to before the pandemic, COVID-19 caused an average increase in claim cases by 0.2587845 per cent. Although the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Program claims cases tend to increase every year, at the beginning of the pandemic, old-age security (JHT) and pension security (JP) programs were the most affected. Then in 2021, the death security (JKM), employment injury security (JKK), and pension security (JP) programs experienced the most significant increase in claim cases. Based on the results of the study, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan must prepare liquid funds to overcome the high number of claim cases during a pandemic such as the Covid-19 pandemic in the future. In addition, restrictions on community activities implemented by the government cause business processes to be developed digitally so that participants can carry out the claim process. Abstract

The magnitude of the national inflation rate is the formation of aggregate figures from regional inflation. Formulating policies that target inflation is increasingly complex in the era of regional autonomy because each region has different factors and conditions that make it difficult to control. For this reason, special attention is needed in dealing with regional inflation. This study aims to classify regional inflation that occurred in Indonesia before and during the Covid-19 pandemic through a clustering approach using the K-Means Clustering method. The secondary data used in this study comes from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) publications of the Republic of Indonesia. The results showed that after clustering, there were 19 provinces (55.88%) that experienced a decrease in the cluster level, 6 provinces (17.64%) experienced an increase in the cluster level and 9 provinces (26.4%) were stable at the cluster level. Overall, the Covid-19 outbreak that has hit the world economy has harmed provinces in Indonesia. This can be observed from the largest percentage of clusters, namely provinces that experienced a decrease in the inflation category, which was 55.88% and the highest number of provinces which were originally in 2017 were in cluster 3 (high inflation category) in 2021 which shifted to cluster 1 (inflation category). low). Based on the Paired Sample T-Test, there was a significant difference in clustering before Covid-19 (2017) and during Covid-19 (2021).

Abstract

The Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak has worsened the performance of dairy farming and Milk Producers Cooperative (KPS). Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cooperatives in supporting dairy farmers in North Cianjur, Indonesia. Using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), we assess the role of cooperative services in the performance of its dairy farming members. The results indicate that livestock health and reproduction services are highly prioritized, while education and training programs need improvement, along with a significant relationship between the performance of cooperative services and the businesses of its members. These findings emphasize cooperatives' importance in sustaining small-scale dairy farming performance and provide recommendations for service enhancement.
