Abstract

The increasing demand for efficient and reliable student attendance systems highlights the limitations of conventional manual methods, which are often time-consuming, prone to fraud, and lack accuracy. This study develops a real-time attendance system based on facial recognition using the YOLOv8 deep learning model integrated with TensorFlow. The system is designed to automatically detect and recognize students’ faces through a webcam and record attendance data in real time. The research method involved three main stages: face registration, model training, and attendance recording. A dataset of 4,200 face images from 14 students was collected to train the model. The recognition process used cosine similarity with a threshold of 0.7 to balance accuracy and avoid false recognition. The results showed that the system could effectively recognize student faces under varying lighting and expression conditions with high accuracy, while also recording attendance automatically and reliably. The system proved to be efficient in reducing time consumption, minimizing fraud, and ensuring more accurate attendance records. This study demonstrates that YOLOv8-based face recognition can provide an effective solution for modernizing school attendance management.

Abstract

Development of Evidence Monitoring of PH Levels And Water Turbidity to Determine the Feasibility of Water Consumption. (Supervised by Muhammad Basri and Untung Suwardoyo). The most common method for detecting water quality parameters is by manually collecting samples and sending them to a laboratory for detection and analysis. However, with the advancement of time and technology, this method has become somewhat less relevant due to its manual nature. For that reason, a study was conducted titled "Development of Evidence-Based Monitoring for pH and Turbidity Levels to Determine Drinking Water Feasibility." This study aims to develop a monitoring process that also simplifies the assessment of water feasibility through an automated system, making the process more efficient and relevant. This monitoring system uses two indicators: turbidity and pH. The system is developed using a pH sensor SEN0161-V2 and a turbidity sensor DF Robot-SEN0189, with an ESP32 microcontroller.(Permenkes RI, 2010) It is designed to monitor changes in values in real time, which are then displayed through an Android application. The device is also equipped with a filtration system. Test results showed a change in turbidity levels from an initial value of 29.8 NTU (not suitable for consumption) to 4.8 NTU (suitable for consumption), within a water filtration cycle duration of 24 minutes and 56 seconds.

Abstract

Electrical poles are components of low voltage and medium voltage overhead lines which have the main function of supporting electrical conductors. Monitoring the slope of electricity poles is important to maintain the safety and performance of the electricity network. The aim of this research is to create a tool to detect the tilt of electricity poles so that they remain in a safe position. Research with a qualitative methodology based on literature studies, using the MPU6050 sensor as a tilt detector and ESP32 as a microcontroller. The results of making this application can help state electricity employees (PLN) monitor the slope of electricity poles so they can find out the degree and status. The slope of the electricity pole is 00 - 100 with the status of the electricity pole being safe, 110 -200 degrees with alert status, 210 - 450 with emergency status

Abstract

The development of information technology has affected a large number of sectors, one of which is the culinary industry, namely Cafe D'Carlos located in Parepare. This cafe has problems with the manual catering ordering process due to impracticality, recording errors, and long processing times. This study aims to design and develop a web-based catering ordering application to improve operational efficiency and service quality. In general, the development method for various applications tends to be the same depending on the case being handled. The method used includes several stages, namely: literature study, observation, system design using UML, implementation with PHP programming language and testing with the black box method. The features available in this application consist of main features including user registration, menu package selection, online ordering, payment, order and data management by the admin. The results of the application testing indicate that the system has run according to its function, namely it can reduce frequent order compliance, speed up the ordering process and increase customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Anemia is a significant health problem among adolescent girls, mainly due to increased iron demand during growth and menstruation. SKI data in 2023 states that the prevalence of teenage anemia is 21%. This service aims to reduce the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls through the socialization of the CARE Application (Prevent Teenage Anemia) and the provision of blood supplement tablets at MTsN Pangkep. This activity involved 60 female students as participants, with methods that included health education through videos, hemoglobin checks, anthropometric measurements (weight, height, upper arm circumference), and distribution of blood supplement tablets by the local Puskesmas. The community service team acted as facilitators, with support from UKS teachers and Puskesmas health workers. The results showed that the structured and collaborative approach effectively increased understanding of anemia and improved adolescent girls' health status. The activity also strengthened health literacy among participants, which may contribute to a long-term reduction in anemia prevalence. In conclusion, multifaceted interventions that combine health education and nutritional supplementation are essential in preventing anemia in adolescent girls and need to be implemented more widely in other school settings to achieve a more significant impact.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the information system implemented in the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the University of Muhammadiyah Parepare in supporting student management and participation. This information system is designed to facilitate access to information, registration, and administration of UKM activities. The method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey, where data is collected through questionnaires distributed to active students registered as UKM members. The variables analyzed include information needs, ease of use, system performance, and user satisfaction. The results showed that the majority of respondents were satisfied with the ease of access to information and use of the system. However, there are several areas that need improvement, especially related to the speed of system access and the system's ability to handle large data loads. In addition, the information provided needs to be clearer and more complete, especially regarding UKM profiles and registration procedures. This study suggests developing a system to improve performance, such as optimizing access time and larger data handling capacity. Improved search and filter features are also needed to improve the efficiency of system use. This study is expected to contribute to the development of UKM information systems in higher education and provide recommendations for system managers on other campuses.

Abstract

The cocoa industry faces challenges in ensuring the quality of cocoa beans, especially in detecting the level of dryness that affects the taste and quality of the final product. This study aims to design and develop an Android-based application that can detect the level of dryness of cocoa beans using machine learning technology, specifically Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) implemented with TensorFlow Lite. This application aims to provide a practical and efficient solution for farmers, especially in remote areas, using easily accessible Android devices. The CNN model was trained using a dataset of cocoa bean images with three categories of dryness: Wet, Half Dry, and Dry. The application was tested on 30 respondents consisting of farmers and cocoa bean processors to assess detection accuracy and ease of use. The test results showed that the application was able to detect the level of dryness of cocoa beans with adequate accuracy and appropriate detection speed on Android devices with low specifications. Although this application shows significant potential, several challenges remain, especially related to optimizing detection in poor lighting conditions. This research contributes to the use of mobile technology and machine learning to improve the quality of agricultural products, as well as opening up opportunities for further development in digital-based agricultural systems.

Abstract

Traditional Bugis cakes are an important and distinctive part of Indonesian culinary culture, yet their existence is starting to erode due to globalization and a lack of proper digital documentation. The visual similarities between the cakes make manual identification difficult, especially for the younger generation who are more exposed to modern, global food trends. This study aims to develop an Android application for the automatic classification of traditional Bugis cakes using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The experimental method was conducted by collecting a comprehensive dataset of cake images, training a CNN model, and evaluating its performance using a black box testing approach. This method was chosen because it yielded a validation accuracy of 97.00% and a final accuracy of 92.40%. The application can recognize cakes in real-time through a mobile phone camera, with optimal results achieved at a distance of 15–30 cm and under adequate lighting conditions. However, its performance decreases when the distance increases, objects are cut off, or lighting is poor.

Abstract

Robotics technology has been used in various aspects of life to make work easier. In the industrial sector, robots are used to replace human roles in order to produce more effective and efficient work. The use of robots is also carried out in jobs with a high level of risk, one of which is search and rescue (SAR). In its development, the use of robots for SAR requires high flexibility and effectiveness in carrying out movements for finding and extinguishing hotspots as well as rescuing victims. So, in this research, a movement control system will be designed for a legged robot. The robot's design consists of four legs. Each leg of the robot is integrated with three servo motors, so that each leg movement will have three degrees of freedom. Tests are carried out to determine the speed of the robot in various directions of movement by changing the rotation angle of the servo on each leg. The test results show that a legged robot can accelerate at a maximum speed of 0.066 m/s.
