Abstract

Abstract

Critical values in an examination indicate a disorder that requires special and rapid action to improve patient safety. Urea examination is one of the laboratory parameters that functions as an indicator in assessing the level of kidney function. Urea levels are considered critical if the results exceed 100 mg/dl. This study aims to understand how to handle critical values in urea examinations. This study describes a case in the field of clinical chemistry related to critical results obtained from urea examinations. The object of the case study used in this study was a serum sample, with data showing a critical urea level of 185 mg/dl. Based on the confirmation results, this figure is in accordance with the condition of patients who have kidney failure and will undergo hemodialysis therapy. The conclusion of this study shows that handling critical values in urea examinations is carried out by identifying patient identity and ensuring good sample quality. In addition, the sample testing process must be carried out carefully and precisely, control results must be optimal, the reagents used must have the appropriate temperature and not expired, and the equipment must be properly maintained and calibrated. Finally, confirmation and reporting of results must be carried out accurately and on time.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is defined as increased levels of uric acid in the blood, this can result in gout which is characterized by pain and redness in the joints. Currently, increased uric acid levels are often caused by excessive consumption of red meat including offal, being overweight, consuming foods high in cholesterol, and rarely exercising. The purpose of this counseling and examination of uric acid levels is to increase public knowledge about gout and gout screening by conducting uric acid examinations using POCT. The implementation method used is direct delivery of material related to gout, symptoms, and prevention including screening of uric acid examinations using the POCT method.

Abstract

Seblak is a typical food or culinary dish from the city of Bandung, West Java, derived from the words segak and nyegak which mean stinging with a composition consisting of chewy crackers sautéed in onion-spiced sauce, which is sometimes added with sausage, eggs, sliced vegetables, meatballs, shrimp, squid. and others. This study aims to determine the description of triglyceride levels in seblak connoisseurs at the STIKes Karsa Husada Garut Campus. The research design used in this study was descriptive in nature, the GPO-PAP examination method with the measurement results in the form of triglyceride levels in mg/dl. This measurement scale is included in the ordinal measurement scale. The research was conducted at the Karsa Husada Garut STIKes Clinical Chemistry Laboratory in June 2023. Samples were obtained from venous blood of D3 Health Analyst students at STIKes Karsa Husada Garut. The definition of student in the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) is a student who studies at a university. Students' eating habits are determined by culture, lifestyle, beliefs and the environment in which the community lives. Increased triglyceride levels (hypertriglyceridemia) is one part of dyslipidemia which is the main factor causing coronary heart disease. Hypertriglyceridemia has a role in causing coronary heart disease. Based on the average results obtained, it can be concluded that the research results depict triglyceride levels in students of consuming seblak at STIKes Karsa Husada Garut campus, most of the respondents had normal triglyceride levels.
