Abstract

This study reviews the literature related to the effectiveness of distance learning (PJJ) in the context of the transition from traditional to virtual classes. The results show that the successful implementation of distance learning is largely determined by several key factors, namely adequate technological infrastructure, teacher readiness and competence in managing virtual classes, and student engagement and discipline. In addition, support from parents and a conducive home environment are proven to play an important role in supporting students' learning process. A curriculum specifically designed for distance learning is also a crucial factor to ensure optimal student interaction and engagement. By considering and optimising these factors, distance learning can be an effective and comparable alternative to traditional face-to-face learning. This study provides guidance for education practitioners in designing and implementing distance learning more efficiently and effectively.

Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki oleh masyarakat di Indonesia, termasuk profesi guru, adalah menulis. Menulis resensi juga menjadi salah satu kemampuan yang dimiliki oleh guru untuk menceritakan tentang kelebihan dan kekurangan dari buku yang dibaca oleh mereka. Hal ini akan menimbulkan dampak positif kepada murid-murid mereka, salah satunya adalah menumbuhkan minat baca mereka. Oleh sebab itu, pengabdian ini dilaksanakan agar para guru mengenal lebih dalam mengenai cara menulis resensi buku, mulai dari membaca buku yang akan diresensi; mencatat informasi buku; mengakaji keabsahan dan tata tulis; menyusun ringkasan isi buku; mengkaji kelebihan dan kelemahan buku; dan menulis opini di dalam resensi tersebut. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode dari tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Di dalam pelaksanaannya, kegiatan ini diawali dengan pemberian materi terlebih dahulu mengenai dasar-dasar resensi buku kepada 9 guru di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Kota Gorontalo. Setelah pemaparan materi, tahap selanjutnya adalah melakukan uji coba penulisan resensi salah satu buku yang dibaca oleh guru tersebut. Hasilnya, beberapa dari guru di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Gorontalo berhasil memahami tentang resensi buku, mulai dari memilih buku yang telah diresensi sampai menulis opini di dalam resensi tersebut. Meskipun demikian, masih terdapat beberapa kekurangan dari uji coba tersebut, antara lain membuat judul yang menarik dan menuliskan secara rinci mengenai kekurangan dan kelebihan dari buku yang telah dibaca oleh mereka.

Abstract

As we journey through the 21st century, the world of education is undergoing a profound transformation fuelled by sophisticated and exotic technological advances. These rapid developments in technology open up invaluable opportunities. It promises to improve the quality and effectiveness of learning experiences, engage students at a deeper level, expand access to a wealth of learning resources, and develop skills that are crucial in this new era. In addition, technology embellishes the assessment and evaluation process, making it more effective and efficient. Moreover, it becomes a beacon of inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that learning is accessible to all. However, the successful integration of these innovations depends on strong infrastructure, improved educator competencies, supportive policies, and collaborative efforts between all stakeholders. With a holistic and synergistic approach, the transformation of education through technology not only promises innovation and interaction; it shapes a richer and higher-quality learning environment. Such an environment nurtures the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of student-centred learning as a strategy to improve learning independence and 21st century skills. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach, utilising various recent academic sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant conference proceedings. The findings indicate that student-centred learning is effective in developing independence by granting students autonomy to set goals, choose strategies, and evaluate their own learning. Additionally, this model has proven to support the mastery of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, digital literacy, and problem-solving abilities. Factors contributing to the successful implementation include the role of teachers as facilitators, the use of educational technology, and a collaborative and contextual learning environment. However, challenges remain, particularly regarding teacher readiness, resources, and student readiness differences. Overall, the implementation of student-centred learning is considered relevant to the demands of modern education and capable of making a significant contribution to the development of competent and adaptive independent learners in the global era.

Abstract

Pendidikan sejarah berperan penting dalam membentuk kesadaran historis, identitas nasional, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Namun, praktik pembelajaran di sekolah masih didominasi pendekatan tradisional yang menekankan hafalan, sehingga literasi sejarah belum optimal. Kondisi ini menegaskan perlunya penerapan pendekatan deep learning, yang tidak hanya berfokus pada penguasaan fakta, tetapi juga mendorong pemahaman mendalam, sehingga dapat memperkuat literasi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pendekatan deep learning dalam pembelajaran sejarah menekankan pemahaman mendalam, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan relevansi masa lalu dengan persoalan masa kini. Melalui pemanfaatan teknologi digital serta peran guru sebagai fasilitator, pembelajaran menjadi lebih interaktif, kontekstual, dan bermakna, sehingga membuka ruang bagi penguatan literasi sejarah yang menuntut kemampuan kritis dalam mengelola dan menafsirkan sumber, bukan sekadar hafalan fakta. Oleh karena itu sangat diperlukan integrasi mindful, meaningful, dan joyful learning dalam kerangka deep learning sebagai solusi untuk memperkuat literasi sejarah sekaligus membentuk peserta didik yang kritis, reflektif, dan memiliki kesadaran historis.

Abstract

Technology can help get work done, but the presence of technology also has the potential to reduce students' critical thinking because technology can complete student work, so students do not need to read and write. It encourages the community service team to carry out activities by critically assisting students in reading, thinking, and writing. The service is carried out using a PAR approach, starting with research about the relation of students' interest in reading and their critical thinking. It is used as a basis for socialization about scientific literacy. After it, the community service team held discussions, asked questions about the books the students had read, and encouraged students to write their critical thoughts into essays. The results showed that 49 students had completed scientific articles based on their critical thinking. This activity is in partnership with GRAIM Unity literacy community and was held from February to June 2023.

Abstract

Tradisi molonthalo adalah suatu upacara yang dijalani oleh wanita yang tengah mengandung selama tujuh bulan di wilayah Gorontalo. Upacara ini adalah serangkaian ritual yang berkaitan dengan permohonan dan harapan untuk mendapatkan keselamatan serta sebagai ungkapan rasa syukur kepada Tuhan. Penting untuk menjaga dan melestarikan tradisi molonthalo karena terkandung makna yang mendalam dan nilai-nilai yang tinggi di dalamnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur sebagai pendekatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam tradisi molonthalo terdapat aspek sosial yang positif, seperti kerjasama dan solidaritas antar individu, serta memperkuat hubungan sosial di antara masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk mempertahankan dan menerapkan tradisi Molonthalo dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, karena tradisi ini mengandung nilai-nilai karakter seperti toleransi, keagamaan, dan kepedulian sosial.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kebudayaan monuni yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber pembelajaran IPS. Kebudayaan monuni merupakan tradisi yang sering dilakukan oleh Masyarakat Buol, setiap mau menaikkan seorang anak dalam buaian atau dalam ayunan. Tradisi monuni adalah kebudayaan yang mendoakan seorang anak agar saat di masa pertumbuhannya tidak mengalami hambatan serta untuk menolak bala. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi monuni dapat mempererat rasa kekeluargaan dan meningkatkan solidaritas serta menumbuhkan interaksi sosial antar masyarakat. Kebudayaan monuni mengandung nilai gotong royong, religius dan toleransi. Oleh karena itu, nilai-nilai karakter yang terkandung dalam tradisi monuni harus dijadikan sebagai sumber pembelajaran IPS agar tetap dilestarikan oleh generasi muda.

Abstract

There are many university students who get a disappointing learning outcome in the course of Indonesia history in hindu-buddha period, indicated by achievement score below the minimum mastery criteria that sets at score of 75. The aim of this research is analyzing the historical based learning model to students’ learning outcome in the course of Indonesia history in hindu-buddha period. This research is an experimental research with a pre-experimental research  through a one-group pretest-posttest design. Population in this research was all 65 students of Class 2022/2023 in History Education Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Gorontalo State University. 22 students were selected as the sample used in this research. Descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics used in the analysis technique, namely the t-test. The results of the t-test calculation obtained a tcount is 19.2 and ttable is 1.72, so, tcount>ttable. The lowest score in the pretest results was 40 and the highest score was 79. There were 19 students who were not complete the test while there were 3 students who were complete the test. In the posttest, the lowest score was 76 and the highest score was 94. In this posttest, all students were complete because they understood the material well. The conclusion is that the historical based learning model is effective in improving students’ learning outcome.

Abstract

Gamification in education is an innovative approach that applies game elements and principles to the learning process. Its main goal is to increase student engagement and motivation, thus creating a more enjoyable and effective learning experience. In its implementation, gamification incorporates technology to provide an interactive learning environment that focuses on achievement and skill development. While it offers many benefits, gamification implementation also faces challenges, including the need for proper planning and adaptation according to the specific needs of the curriculum. This shows that when implemented correctly, gamification can be a powerful tool to advance pedagogy and improve student academic outcomes.
