Abstract

This study seeks to explore how the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35 embodies a theology of synodality. The theology of synodality has become a central focus in the life of the Catholic Church today, particularly since Pope Francis highlighted its importance in the third millennium. Synodality, etymologically meaning "walking together" (synodos), is based on three main pillars: communion, participation, and mission among all Church members. In this context, the passage from Luke 24:13-35, which describes the journey to Emmaus, offers rich, profound, and relevant insights to enhance and deepen the theology of synodality. This article aims to analyze this passage using both synchronic and diachronic approaches, examining the writings of the Church Fathers, Church documents, and Church history. The results of this analysis will then be engaged in dialogue with the theology of synodality to explore its relevance and potential contributions to this theological framework.

Abstract

Abstract

Suffering is an essential part of human nature. Suffering appears in all forms, from physical, and psychological to spiritual. What causes it and what does it mean? Human history offers a variety of answers, but no single answer is satisfactory. The definitive and perfect answer can only be found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God who became human and suffered, was crucified, and died on the cross. The answer will be presented through exegetical description and theological reflection on Mrk 15:33-39 using library research methods. The crucified Jesus is depicted in real terms through terrible suffering, feelings of abandonment from God the Father, and the voluntary surrender of His life. The climax of Jesus’ suffering was expressed in His cry, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” (Mrk 15:34). Quoting the prayer of the righteous suffering man in Ps 22:2, a seemingly desperate cry becomes a cry of confidence in God’s coming presence and glorification. By voluntarily entering into the greatest suffering, Jesus revealed the true meaning of suffering and became the hope for all human beings experiencing suffering in their lives. As an innocent Servant of God the Father, He willingly endured human suffering, in order to enable humans to share in His salvific suffering. By entering into the mystery of the suffering of Jesus Christ, humanity discovers the true meaning of suffering. Through the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, those who are sick and suffering are united with Jesus so that they can also obtain His liberation and glorification. Imitating Jesus’ attitude of voluntarily accepting suffering can free a person from the influence and impact of suffering itself. Inner freedom based on trust, hope, and love for God not only enables a person to endure life’s suffering patiently but also turns it into something good and useful for himself/herself and others. Saint Francis of Assisi is obvious evidence when he actually found joy in all suffering with a holy desire, namely to feel as much suffering as possible as well as the love of Christ.

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematics education in Indonesia continues to face persistent challenges, particularly concerning student anxiety and engagement. While prior studies have extensively explored the math anxiety on academic performance, investigations at the higher education level remain limited. This study explores the relationship between math anxiety and learning interest, specifically focusing on gender differences among students in the Sharia Economics Program at STAI Sangatta, East Kutai. Adopting a quantitative approach, data were collected from 72 students via a digital questionnaire comprising 30 items measuring anxiety and 15 assessing interest in mathematics, all rated on a four-point Likert scale. The Pearson correlation analysis revealed a moderate but statistically insignificant positive correlation for male students (r = 0.431), and a strong, statistically significant positive correlation for female students (r = 0.750). These findings suggest that higher anxiety levels may be linked to increased motivation to learn mathematics among female students. This perspective challenges the conventional belief that academic anxiety is solely detrimental. The study emphasizes the need for integrated strategies that address both emotional and motivational aspects of learning. It advocates for gender-sensitive teaching methods and inclusive educational practices, particularly in disciplines like Sharia Economics, where mathematical proficiency is essential for academic and professional success.

Abstract

Background. The sustainability of classical Arabic manuscripts is often confined to digitization efforts that focus solely on image preservation and limited text markup. These approaches do not fully address the semantic richness and epistemological structure inherent in Islamic intellectual heritage. Purpose. This study aims to develop a semantic annotation model tailored for classical Arabic texts to support digital philology and enrich manuscript sustainability through machine-readable and concept-linked interpretations. Method. Using a developmental qualitative research design, three classical manuscripts were annotated semantically using a custom-built model based on RDF and Islamic ontology. The model was evaluated by domain experts in philology and computational linguistics, focusing on four criteria: semantic accuracy, contextual relevance, interoperability, and usability. Results. The model achieved annotation accuracy above 91% across all manuscripts. Experts rated semantic precision (4.7/5) and contextual relevance (4.6/5) as its strongest aspects. The system successfully mapped technical terms and logical concepts within classical texts and linked them across manuscripts. A case study demonstrated the model’s effectiveness in identifying relationships between epistemological terms and enabling thematic exploration. Conclusion. This semantic annotation model advances digital philology by enabling structured, concept-based analysis of classical Arabic texts. It bridges computational methods with Islamic textual traditions and opens new pathways for collaborative, sustainable, and meaningful engagement with manuscript heritage.

Abstract

This study analyzes strategies for implementing Pancasila values in the learning process aimed at shaping moderate, tolerant, and patriotic character among students of the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Program at Universitas Serambi Mekkah. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, and documentation of instructional materials, including Semester Learning Plans (RPS), teaching resources, and academic activity records. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative techniques encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and was reinforced by a review of relevant literature on radicalism, ideological education, and the internalization of Pancasila values in higher education. The findings reveal that the internalization of Pancasila values through contextual learning strategies, such as dialogical discussions, reflective learning, case-based instruction, the strengthening of ideological literacy, and lecturers’ exemplary conduct, contributes significantly to enhancing students’ awareness of diversity, religious moderation, and national unity. Students not only acquire cognitive understanding of Pancasila but also demonstrate the practical internalization of its values in their daily social interactions. This process strengthens students’ ideological resilience and reduces their susceptibility to radical narratives within the campus environment. The study concludes that learning Pancasila ideology plays a strategic role in preventing radicalism and serves as a fundamental pillar for reinforcing students’ national identity. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening ideological education in a systematic and sustainable manner to foster a moderate, inclusive, and nationally oriented academic environment.

Abstract

This article examines the legal protection of children after divorce through a comparative approach between Islamic law and the Indonesian Child Protection Act. Divorce often has negative consequences for children—psychologically, socially, and economically. Therefore, a legal framework is needed that can guarantee the comprehensive fulfillment of children’s rights, even after the termination of parental marital relations. From the perspective of Islamic law, the principle of child protection is rooted in the objectives of sharia (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah), particularly in preserving life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), lineage (ḥifẓ al-nasl), and intellect (ḥifẓ al-‘aql). The concepts of ḥaḍānah (custody), the obligation of financial support, and the continuity of emotional roles of parents indicate that Islam places the welfare of the child as a top priority. Meanwhile, Law No. 35 of 2014 guarantees the rights of children after divorce through the principle of the best interest of the child, although its implementation still faces challenges such as weak legal enforcement and lack of supervision in the fulfillment of custody and child support. This article employs a normative-comparative research method and a maqāṣid-based analysis. The findings show the urgency of harmonizing the regulations between the two legal systems to realize a child protection framework that is just, comprehensive, and contextually relevant. The integration of maqāṣid principles into national policy is key to strengthening the child protection system in Indonesia.
