Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the literacy of artificial intelligence in the blended learning model by looking at the influence of: (1) introduction to artificial intelligence (IAI) on data security and privacy (DSP), (2) Advantages and Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence (ADAI) on DSP, (3) Implications of Artificial Intelligence (IAII) on DSP, (4) IAI on DSP moderated by Ethics and Laws of Artificial Intelligence (ELAI), (5) ADAI on DSP moderated by ELAI, (6) IAII on DSP moderated by ELAI, and (7) ELAI on DSP. The research design is expost de facto. The research sample is 4th semester 2021 students who have studied web programming courses in the department of informatics and computer engineering with a total of 156 students. Data analysis with partial least square (PLS) using the SmartPLS application. The results showed that: (1) IAI has a positive but insignificant effect on DSP, (2) ADAI has a positive and significant effect on DSP, (3) IAII has a positive and significant effect on DSP, (4) IAI has no positive and insignificant effect on DSP moderated by ELAI, (5) ADAI has a positive and significant effect on DSP moderated by ELAI, (6) IAII has no positive and insignificant effect on DSP moderated by ELAI, and (7) ELAI has a positive and significant effect on DSP. In addition, the analysis results show an acceptable level of variance of the lecturer trust model (68.8%). This means that there is 31.2% variance in the dependent variable explained by other factors.

Abstract

The urgency of using AI in the educational environment as a medium for optimizing student learning personalization in synchronous and asynchronous learning needs to be done to ensure that students experience improved attitudes, motivation, and learning satisfaction, which is reflected in student competencies. This study aimed to investigate the impact of ChatGPT use frequency on students' attitudes, satisfaction levels, and competence in higher education learning goals. The type of research employed was non-experimental quantitative research, specifically ex-post facto research. The sample size was 257 people, which was determined using the criteria of Issac and Michael (1971) and sampling distribution with a proportional random sampling technique. Data collection techniques that utilize questionnaires are effective in obtaining quantitative data. The PLS SEM analysis was used to determine the effect of exogenous latent variables on endogenous latent variables. The study revealed that reliability and satisfaction with ChatGPT positively impact learning outcomes, while the perceived impact on competence does not significantly enhance learning objectives. Increased usage frequency moderates these effects, diminishing the positive influence of perceptions, reliability, and satisfaction and shifting the impact on competence to negative and insignificant. These findings highlight the complexity of integrating ChatGPT into education, suggesting that initial positive perceptions may not be sustained with frequent use.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the signs of internet addiction among students in the Statistics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). The study employed a survey method with a questionnaire completed by 204 students from the Statistics Study Program at UNM. The questionnaire included 20 questions covering various indicators of internet addiction, such as loss of control, using the internet as an emotional escape, satisfaction with internet use, preoccupation, academic impact, and difficulty in controlling internet use. The results indicate that a significant proportion of the surveyed students exhibit signs of internet addiction. Many respondents reported difficulties in regulating their internet use time, a tendency to use the internet as an emotional escape, and a high level of satisfaction and emotional dependence on online activities. Additionally, some students experienced negative impacts on their academic performance, such as decreased focus, delayed task completion, and disrupted sleep patterns due to excessive internet use. The findings emphasize the need for preventive measures and appropriate interventions to help students in the Statistics Study Program, UNM, manage their internet use in a healthier and more productive manner, thereby mitigating the adverse effects of internet addiction on their academic and overall well-being. Recommendations for future research include longitudinal studies, analyses based on demographic characteristics, qualitative explorations, instrument development, and multidisciplinary collaborations to further understand and address this issue.
