Abstract

This study aims to develop a career exploration instrument based on Anne Roe’s classification to help junior high school students explore their career options. The development method uses the Syaiffudin Azwar instrument development model with 8 stages, namely the identification of measuring objectives; measuring domain restrictions; operationalization of aspects; writing and reviewing items; language test; field tests; item selection and; final compilation. The field test was carried out on 306 junior high school students in the Godean area, Yogyakarta. The results of the CFA test show that all instrument items that make up the 8 career groups obtained fit results based on the p-value indicators of 0.257, RMSEA 0.15, GFI 0.87, AGFI 0.86, and CFI 1.00. CFASO test results obtained p-value 0.257 greater than 0.05 and RMSEA value 0.015 less than 0.05. In addition, the results of multidimensional reliability testing showed a score of 0.87 greater than 0.70. These findings indicate a valid and reliable instrument to help explore the careers of junior high school students.

Abstract

In 2030, 70% of Indonesia's population will be of productive age (15-64 years), which is a demographic bonus. However, this potential is threatened by the high rate of stunting in children, which threatens future workforce productivity. Early identification of stunting risk is essential for timely intervention. This study develops a stunting prediction model using machine learning with data from early childhood education institutions in rural Semarang. The model used is a Support Vector Machine (SVM) implemented through the RapidMiner framework. The SVM model achieved an accuracy of 97.56%, a precision of 98.97%, a recall of 97.37%, and an AUC of 0.997. The results of the SVM model highlight the importance of physical motor skills and artistic development.

Abstract

Choosing a college major is one of the most important decisions in a student's educational journey. In reality, however, many Indonesian students enter their study programs not based on personal interest, but due to exam-score requirements, family expectations, or limited options. A mismatch between interests and major is related to students' psychological well-being. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in psychological well-being (PWB) and academic achievement (GPA) between Biology students who chose their major based on interest and those who did not, in terms of psychological well-being (PWB) and academic achievement (GPA). Using a quantitative comparative design, data were collected from 90 Biology students. PWB was measured with Ryff's Scales of Psychological Well-Being, and GPA was obtained from official university records. After confirming normality and homogeneity of variance, an independent samples t-test was applied for PWB and a Mann-Whitney U test for GPA. The independent samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups, t(88) = 4.361, p < .001. And the Mann-Whitney U test showed no statistically significant difference in GPA between the two groups, U = 1003, z = ?0.077, p >.001. These findings indicate that major selection driven by personal interest is meaningfully linked to students' psychological well-being, though not to their academic grades. The implications for academic guidance and counseling practice are discussed.
