Abstract

Implementing RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) standards is one way to address the challenges palm oil products face in competing in the global market. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that support farmers' decisions in implementing RSPO standards. The study was conducted from July to September 2025 in Kertabumi Village, Kuaro District, Paser Regency, with the Bumi Subur cooperative as a partner in the RSPO implementation process. Data collection was conducted through surveys and focus group discussions (FGDs). Data analysis using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was conducted based on the FGD results, which were then weighted by experts comprising academics, supporting institutions, KUDs, independent farmers, and village officials. Decision support factors were arranged in a hierarchy: first, determining the decision objective; then, selecting criteria; and finally, determining decision alternatives. The results of the study show that the criteria with the highest value are environmentally friendly factors (0.249), followed by cultivation according to standards (0.228). After determining the criterion with the highest weight, the next step is to select decision-support alternatives for the environmentally friendly criterion with the highest weight, namely RSPO, which requires protecting high conservation-value areas (0.240). Based on the above, it can be seen that environmentally friendly cultivation is one of the most important factors that encourage farmers to implement RSPO standards, alongside demand for environmentally friendly palm oil products.

Abstract

Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi permasalahan limbah organik yaitu dengan memanfaatkannya menjadi pupuk organik yang dapat bermanfaat bagi tanaman. Proses pembuatan pupuk organik tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) agar mudah terurai dan cepat menjadi bahan organik yang bermanfaat. Tujuan kegiatan ini yaitu memberikan edukasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan limbah organik menjadi pupuk organik melalui penggunaan MOL rebung bambu yang dapat diperoleh di wilayah masyarakat RT 20. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Kelurahan Tanah Merah Kota Samarinda dengan sasaran kelompok dasawisma RT 20 di kelurahan tersebut. Metode yang dilakukan yaitu dengan melakukan praktik dan demonstrasi cara pembuatan MOL dari rebung bambu. Peserta kegiatan aktif berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan ini, yaitu dari antusias berdiskusi terkait alur pembuatan MOL tersebut. Pada evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di Kelurahan Tanah Merah terlaksana dengan sangat baik, relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat, serta memberikan manfaat yang nyata dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is a key commodity playing a vital role in meeting global demands across the food, oleochemical, and renewable energy industries. A primary quality parameter for CPO is its free fatty acid (FFA) content. FFA levels are influenced by lipolytic enzyme activity, high temperatures, humidity, and exposure to air during handling and storage. This study aimed to examine how the design and operational conditions of loading ramp shelters specifically contribute to changes in the FFA levels of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), which in turn affect the quality of the final CPO product. In this study, FFB were placed at three locations: an outdoor area (P1), an outdoor area with water spraying (P2), and a shelter (P3), and their FFA content was analyzed after 1 to 7 days of post-harvest storage. The results showed that the lowest increase in FFA levels occurred with the shelter treatment (P3), as it was more effective at suppressing FFA accumulation, particularly during rainy weather.

Abstract

The implementation of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification among smallholder oil palm farmers is a crucial step toward achieving sustainable oil palm plantation management. This study aims to analyze smallholders’ perceptions regarding the factors supporting the successful implementation of ISPO. The method used is a descriptive approach, analyzing the level of importance of each factor based on respondents’ assessments. The sample size consisted of 45 respondents selected through purposive sampling, specifically members of the Bumi Subur Farmers’ Cooperative who are in the process of implementing ISPO. The results indicate that land legality is the most dominant factor and a key aspect in the success of ISPO implementation. Other primary supporting factors include government assistance and the presence of supporting institutions or partners, indicating that external support plays a crucial role in enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers. Furthermore, factors such as the proper application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cultivation and the use of high-quality oil palm seedlings also fall into the “important” category in supporting ISPO success. Meanwhile, factors such as increased productivity, environmentally friendly cultivation practices, availability of production facilities, cultivation experience, and participation in ISPO training fall into the “moderately supportive” category. Factors with relatively lower influence include fresh fruit bunches (FFB) directly purchased by palm oil mills and the reduction of social issues.
