Abstract

Background: Traditional language development interventions for young children often lack personalization and fail to integrate objective neurological data with engaging therapeutic experiences. This study explored children's lived experiences with qEEG-guided storytelling therapy using the innovative Erodeo platform to understand how real-time neural feedback integration with adaptive narratives influences language development processes in early childhood. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological design was employed with 16 children aged 4-8 years who completed qEEG-guided storytelling sessions over a minimum six-week period. Data were collected through child-friendly interviews, parent interviews, and observational sessions, analyzed using adapted phenomenological methods suitable for pediatric populations. Participants were recruited through purposive sampling from pediatric speech therapy centers and early childhood development clinics. Results: Six major themes emerged from the analysis: (1) embodied language awareness - direct felt experience of speech production; (2) immersive narrative engagement - collaborative storytelling enhancing vocabulary acquisition; (3) real-time articulation consciousness - awareness of speech clarity improvements; (4) vocabulary expansion and semantic understanding - enriched word knowledge and usage; (5) communication confidence and social integration - improved expressive abilities; and (6) playful learning empowerment - active participation in language development. Children demonstrated significant improvements in vocabulary acquisition, articulation clarity, and communication confidence. Conclusions: qEEG-guided storytelling therapy facilitates multidimensional language development through personalized, child-centered interventions that honor both objective neurological processes and subjective developmental experiences. This approach offers significant potential for advancing pediatric language intervention by creating dynamic therapeutic environments that adapt to children's developmental needs and learning styles.

Abstract

Purpose: This systematic literature review synthesizes empirical evidence regarding the effects of culturally-informed interface design on visual attention patterns and response times as measured through eye-tracking methodologies in neurocognitive studies. The study aims to identify research patterns, methodological approaches, and geographic representation in this rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted across five major academic databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library) covering publications from 2010-2025. Search strategies combined terms related to cultural factors, interface design, and eye-tracking methodologies. Studies were systematically screened using predefined inclusion criteria, with data extraction focusing on study characteristics, methodological approaches, cultural contexts, and key findings. Results: From 390 initially identified studies, 116 (29.7%) met inclusion criteria for detailed analysis. The temporal distribution revealed exponential growth, with 46.7% of studies published during 2020-2025, peaking at 41 studies in 2024. Thematic analysis identified interface design (70.2%) and eye-tracking methodologies (59.3%) as dominant research foci, while cultural factors appeared in 50.5% of studies. Geographic analysis revealed significant imbalance, with Western cultures examined in 34 studies versus 11 studies focusing on Asian cultures. Methodological approaches showed limited adoption of experimental designs (5.7%) and virtual absence of neuroscience approaches (0.3%). Conclusions: The field has evolved from exploratory investigations to substantive scientific inquiry but requires strategic advancement in three critical areas: geographic and cultural diversity through expanded non-Western research, methodological sophistication through increased experimental rigor and neuroscience integration, and theoretical development through systematic framework integration. These findings provide evidence-based recommendations for developing inclusive design guidelines and establishing international collaborative research programs.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Model for Assessment, Intervention, and Monitoring of Language Development for Children with Speech Delay (MAP-ASD) in West Jakarta. The high prevalence of speech delay (23.3%) and the lack of context-appropriate assessment instruments (87.5% of PAUDs do not have specific instruments) are the basis for the urgency of this research. Using the 4D model development approach (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), the study involved 15 children with speech delay and 15 PAUD teachers. Validation was carried out by three experts in the fields of child developmental psychology, learning assessment, and speech therapy. The results showed that the MAP-ASD has very good validity (CVI 0.97), high reliability (Kappa 0.77; ICC 0.81), and very good practicality (T-Score 67.7). Effectiveness testing demonstrated significant improvements in children's language skills following MAP-ASD-based intervention, with an average increase of 5 points (22.7%), highest in semantics (6 points) and lowest in syntax and pragmatics (4 points). Mild speech delay cases demonstrated the best response (26.9% improvement), while severe cases continued to show significant progress (20.0%). This model integrates a multilingual approach tailored to the West Jakarta context and links assessments with specific intervention recommendations. MAP-ASD significantly contributes to filling the gap in contextual assessment tools for speech delay in Indonesia, enabling early identification and appropriate interventions that improve the quality of inclusive education at the early childhood education (ECE) level

Abstract

Early literacy development, particularly letter recognition, plays a crucial role in forming reading readiness in early childhood. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Banjar Local Board Media in improving letter-recognition skills among children aged 5–6 years. This experimental research employed a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 17 kindergarten children at TK Perjuangan Bunda, Tabalong, Indonesia. Data were collected using a 27-item letter-recognition test measuring the ability to identify letter shapes, associate letters with sounds, and the form of simple written letters. The treatment consisted of four learning sessions integrating Banjar cultural elements through picture–letter associations, phonological activities, and interactive board manipulation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test to determine significant differences between pretest and posttest scores. Findings revealed a substantial increase in children's letter-recognition ability, demonstrated by a rise in average scores from 51 (pretest) to 77 (posttest), indicating a 43.3% improvement after the intervention. These results suggest that integrating cultural-based media provides meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences that effectively enhance early literacy competencies. The study contributes to the literature on culturally responsive teaching in early childhood education and emphasizes the relevance of local wisdom in strengthening learning engagement and outcomes. Future research is advised to involve larger samples and employ comparative experimental designs to broaden generalization and strengthen evidence of effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to gather data on the effect of utilizing coffee plants as a learning medium on the fine motor skills of children at TK Negeri Sumberjaya. The research employed is experimental (pre-experimental). The sample consisted of 30 students from TK Negeri Sumberjaya, serving as the experimental group. Data collection in this study was carried out using child observation sheets totaling 15 items, the data analysis method used is descriptive, with hypothesis testing conducted using the Paired Sample T-Test. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-Test calculation, the Pre-Test and Post-Test values were found. The average Pre-Test value for children's fine motor skills, or the Mean, is 27.03. For the Post-Test, the average value of children's fine motor skills is 51.23. Since the average Pre-Test score of 27.03 is lower than the Post-Test score of 51.23, it indicates that, descriptively, there is a significant difference in children's fine motor skills between the Pre-Test and Post-Test results. With a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in children's fine motor skills between the Pre-Test and Post-Test, meaning that the use of coffee plant media has a positive effect on improving children's fine motor skills at Sumberjaya State Kindergarten.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the intensity of watching YouTube and language development in early childhood (ages 2-5 years). The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and utilized purposive sampling techniques. The study focused on kindergartens in Pringgowirawan Village, which has 5 schools and 190 students. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. To analyze the data, the product-moment correlation formula was applied using SPSS.The analysis revealed a significant relationship between the intensity of watching YouTube and language development in early childhood in Pringgowirawan Village, Jember Regency. This was indicated by the SPSS calculation, where the Sig. (2-tailed) value between the intensity of watching YouTube (X) and children's language development (Y) was 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This signifies a significant correlation between the intensity of watching YouTube and children's language development. Since the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was negative, it indicates that as the intensity of watching YouTube increases, children's language development tends to decrease
