Abstract

Women's political representation in local elections (PILKADA) indicates the quality of democracy and the level of gender equality in political institutions. Although gender quotas have increased the number of female candidates, their substantive representation remains low. This study aims to analyze how gendered political institutions influence a qualitative approach based on secondary data research and thematic analysis. Additionally, it examines the elements of gender-focused institutions identified by Joan Acker, which include division of labor, division of power, symbols and discourses, interpersonal relations, and internal mental work. The results prove that structural and cultural challenges still limit women's participation in the electoral political arena. (1) Division of labor, women tend to be pushed into non-strategic campaign roles, strengthening traditional role stereotypes, (2) division of power, women's access to decision-making is limited due to the dominance of male political elites and political dynasties; (3) symbols and discourses, campaign narratives and public representation are still gender-biased, limited to considering women's existence as supporters not leaders; (4) interpersonal relations, informal political networks are masculine and exclusive, marginalizing women from power networks and (5) internal mental work, that social norms and internal expectations create hesitation for women to show themselves as major political actors. Based on these results above, this research can strengthen the understanding that increasing women's representationin quantity is not enough without being accompanied by institutional transformation and political culture. In addition, this study also emphasizes that there needs to be a comprehensive reform of political design and practice to be more inclusive of women's leadership.

Abstract

The involvement of women in political parties cannot be ignored. This is because gender equality allows democracy to function properly. PDI-P is the only party that has the highest level of women participation. West Java is one of the crucial provinces in both the 2024 General Election or Regional Election. This study aims to explore how women’s empowerment is carried out by PDI-P West Java in each stage of their politics and what the results are. Qualitative research is conducted by collecting primary and secondary data. Primary data is conducted by interviewing selected informants and secondary data trough related document. Data validation is conducted by triangulation sources to check the data obtained. The results of the study show that PDI-P West Java has carried out various methods of empowering women, such as setting party rules regarding women’s quotas in party membership, and candidates who advance in legislative elections, holding special activities for women, providing financial assistance and campaign training for women, and providing training for women cadres who sit in parliament. The results also show that women legislators from the PDI-P West Java faction are very active in speaking out in parliament.

Abstract

In the 2024 legislative campaign, Sigit Raditya competed as a legislative candidate in one of the highly competitive electoral districts, the West Java VI Electoral District. Sigit Raditya lost in competing in the electoral district. This study uses a qualitative design with primary data through interviews with Sigit Raditya and the campaign team in Bekasi and Depok. The analysis was carried out using Nursal's political marketing framework which divides the focus of political marketing into three strategies, namely push, pull, and pass marketing. This study shows findings that in the political marketing that has been implemented by the Sigit Raditya campaign team, all three approaches have been contextually applied in the campaign in Bekasi and Depok. As a newcomer, formation and strengthening through an emotional approach with face-to-face practices are carried out in the push marketing strategy. However, this strategy is not optimal due to inadequate volunteer capacity and Sigit Raditya's absence from several face-to-face visit schedules which reduce his exposure to the grassroots. Then exposure to attract voters through visual media in a combination of digital (social media) and conventional (billboards, brochures) has also been implemented, but there are some inconsistencies in the visuals and aesthetics offered on social media and the distribution of props is uneven. While marketing using the pass marketing approach has attracted several public figures to strengthen support at the grassroots level, this strategy can still require encouragement from the involvement of public figures or influencers who work actively to market Sigit Raditya so that the reach of messages and exposure can increase and expand.

Abstract

Pada artikel ini lebih berfokus untuk mengkaji tentang strategi dalam pemanfaatan modal politik dan modal sosial salah satu aktor politik untuk mempertahankan kekuasaan saat pelaksanaan Pemilu Legislatif (Pileg) tahun 2024 yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Majalengka. Kedua modalitas ini menjadi suatu kekuatan yang wajib dimiliki oleh para aktor politik saat hendak bersaing dalam kontestasi politik. Karena modalitas politik yang diusung oleh para aktor politik berupa modal politik dan modal sosial sangat efektif memenangkan kontestasi politik. Beberapa hasil temuan ini dapat membuktikan bahwa berbagai modalitas tersebut memberikan pengaruh saat menentukan kemenangan para calon kandidat atau aktor politik dalam kontestasi politik. Dapat terlihat keterwakilan perempuan sebagai anggota legislatif di Kabupaten Majalengka ini masih relatif rendah keterpilihannya masih di bawah 30% kursi yang diperebutkan pada Pemilu Legislatif (Pileg) dari tahun 2019-2024. Kemenangan Rinna Sri Isdiyati dalam Pemilu Legislatif (Pileg) di Kabupaten Majalengka pada tahun 2019 terdapat perbedaan, karena modal politik dan modal sosial yang dibawa oleh beliau walaupun terbatas namun dapat memberikan kemenangan. Rinna Sri Isdiyati mempunyai keunggulan pada modal modal politik dan modal sosial yang sebelumnya tidak pernah dibayangkan oleh para lawan politiknya. Bagi para calon kandidat atau kontestan yang sama sekali tidak mempunyai kesiapan kedua basic tersebut tidak akan mampu bersaing di arena politik. Sehingga, apabila tidak ingin kalah dalam pertarungan politik dengan kontestan lainnya maka, para calon kandidat yang sudah terpilih harus mempunyai modal politik dan modal sosial yang memadai, kemudian konsisten juga dalam memperjuangkan segala hal aspirasi dari rakyat, melaksanakan fungsi representasi, selalu menyempatkan untuk hadir ditengah masyarakat ketika diperlukan, serta menjadi wakil rakyat yang bertanggungjawab di daerah pemilihannya.

Abstract

Pemilu menjadi pilar utama di negara demokrasi. Setiap calon yang bertanding di arena politik ini membentuk strategi kampanye yang matang untuk memenangkan pemilihan umum.  Strategi itu mencakup analisis peta politik, penentuan target pemilih, pembentukan tim kampanye, perumusan strategi kampanye, jejaring, pengorganisasian kampanye, dan pengawalan perolehan suara. Mekanisme kegiatan kampanye terus berubah seiring perkembangan zaman. Kampanye politik di media sosial menjadi tren kampanye di berbagai dunia yang saat ini juga diterapkan di Indonesia. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana media sosial bekerja sebagai salah satu kekuatan kampanye politik pada Pemilihan Presiden 2024. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka. Tulisan ini menyimpulkan bahwa media sosial menjadi kekuatan yang signifikan dalam kampanye politik menjelang Pemilihan Presiden 2024 di Indonesia. Pemanfaatan media sosial sudah digunakan oleh ketiga pasangan calon sebagai alat untuk membangun citra, menyebarkan pesan, dan berinteraksi dengan pemilih dalam memenangkan dukungan. Fenomena buzzer dan hoax terus mewarnai Pemilu dan tantangan ini perlu dicecah dan ditindak dengan regulasi yang tegas terkait kampanye pemilu di media sosial yang dikeluarkan oleh Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) sebagai lembaga penyelenggara pemilu.  Kata Kunci : Kampanye, Media Sosial, Pemilihan Umum.

Abstract

Partai politik merupakan instrumen penting dalam demokrasi. Dan partai politik jugalah yang bertanggung jawab untuk menjalankan serta menerapkan nilai-nilai dari demokrasi. Berbicara rekrutmen politik, maka akan berkesinambungan dengan kegiatan pengisian jabatan politik di dalam negara, yang diharapkan dapat menjalankan fungsi dari sistem politik dengan sebaik mungkin, dalam rangka melayani serta memberikan perlindungan bagi rakyat/masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis proses rekrutmen Calon Anggota DPRD Partai Golkar di Kabupaten Majalengka menjelang Pemilu 2024. Dalam proses rekrutmen Calon Anggota DPRD Partai Golkar Majalengka di Pemilu sebelumnya masih minim sosialisasi rekrutmen, kurangnya transparansi dan tidak terpenuhinya kuota Calon Anggota DPRD Partai Golkar di beberapa daerah pemilihan (Dapil) Kabupaten Majalengka di tahun 2019. Metode yang digunakan oleh dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Dalam pengumpulan data peneliti menggunakan data primer, yakni dengan melakukan wawancara dan menggunakan data sekunder melalui studi literatur atau kepustakaan dan dokumen. Penentuan informan pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis menurut Miles dan Huberman, yang meliputi data collection, data reduction, data display, conclusion; drawing/verification. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam proses rekrutmen calon anggota DPRD Partai Golkar di Kabupaten Majalengka menjelang Pemilu tahun 2024 yang meliputi kandidasi (candidacy) dan penyeleksi (selectorate) masih ditemukan minimnya sosialisasi dan kurangnya transparansi rekrutmen pada publik, adanya pragmatisme politik yang mengarah pada keharusan setiap calon mempunyai modal atau biaya politik, lokasi seleksi mudah di akses masyarakat umum dalam beberapa proses dan sisanya tertutup, serta proses pengambilan keputusan atau penetapan yang dilakukan secara tertutup. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa proses rekrutmen tersebut cenderung bersifat tertutup, karena di dalam prosesnya mengarah pada pola rekrutmen tertutup.

Abstract

This research analyzes the political perceptions of faction members in the Garut Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) regarding the formation of Southern Garut Regency. Findings indicate broad support for the expansion, motivated by the need to enhance public services, accelerate development, and improve community welfare in the southern region. Despite this, some factions express skepticism, emphasizing the necessity for in-depth studies and administrative readiness. Utilizing political perception theory, the study explores how DPRD members form their views based on information and interpret their political and social contexts. The research also highlights theoretical limitations, such as insufficient consideration of broader power dynamics and structural influences, including central government policies and local economic interests. These findings underscore the need for further theoretical development to comprehensively capture the complexities of the regional expansion process.

Abstract

The election of the village head is a form of democracy in the local political sphere of the village. This study focuses on voting behavior in village head elections in Ngadas Village, Malang Regency, which has a diversity of religions in its community. In addition to knowing whether religious factors influence voting behavior, this research also examines the possibility of other factors influencing the voting behavior of the people of Ngadas Village at the time of the village head election. To obtain information and data to answer the above, the researchers conducted a field study to Ngadas Village, Malang Regency by conducting interviews and documentation through a qualitative research approach. The informants interviewed consisted of the Village Head, Traditional Leaders, and several residents of Ngadas Village. Based on the results of field research, the voting behavior of the people of Ngadas Village was not influenced by religious diversity, but was more influenced by the figure of the village head candidate and the capacity of the village head candidate in carrying out the program as well as the vision and mission carried out during the village head election campaign. Thus, the voting behavior of the community in the election of the head of Ngadas Village tends to be based on psychological factors and rational choice factors.
